THANK YOU for tuning in for another episode 💜 I decided to wait until my time with Flossy had ended to get the work done on my van incase there were issues (which there was). I'll share all about my front end disaster in a future video. If you can't wait to find out consider joining my Patreon where I just posted a exclusive video with updates about Truck, Franks foot and a new piece of gear.. Patreon is what allows this to be a sustainable career for me as well as invest in upgrading filming equipment. I share regular updates there in text, photos and extra videos along with quick updated in our community chat. Patreon link: www.patreon.com/tidelinetoalpine
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I'll see ya soon with a video all about CZcams as a career before getting back to adventures with Flossy.

Thank you Amanda! ❤🎉 I have not finished the video yet as usual, but I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing that beautiful sunset and the Aurora Borealis with us!! I'm so sorry if I came across harsh or critical in my multiple comments to your last video. Not an excuse but an explanation, my EDS has flared up bad with tears in my illiac-femoral tendon from so many dislocations and debilitating bursitis. Along with that I've got a tear in my femoral- patellar tendon, and bursitis on my ankle from a fracture that detached my tendon away from bone, taking a bit with it. ALL on the left leg. Left lower ribs are inflamed and dislocated, also on left side, and so the right side does not feel left out, the collarbone the first rib and the shoulder have torn ligaments and bursitis as well. You know the drill with EDS I know!! And the MCAS... Just started cromolyn sodium again, hoping it can combat the Privet Hedge outside my door that does me in
May is Ehlers-Danlos awareness month... 🎉❤😂 I used to be in a big advocate for about a year, but it was only received by fellow EDS patience and ignore by the audience that needed to learn it.
Anyway, don't mean to make this Dr Marcus Welby MD hour, and I know you like to downplay the EDS , but I had to connect with you on that. LOL pun intended. Get it? Connective tissues are the issues. LOL...
Anyway, going to go finish the rest of your video. I don't know if you read my comments and took them to heart but I wanted to let you know that I am happy to hear your sing-song voice again and savoring nature so far after I was critical last time... ❤

@@melmelbugNice. I read it! Skeletal health is imperative to get oxygenated blood to nerves. Chiropractor can eleviate pain, opening pathways for nerves to rejuvenate or heal. Proper sleep helps too. We humans worry way too much and it's damaging and not taking care of ourselves because we're giving them to others or pets. But we need those pets to have purpose and protection too. Life is delicate. Hope you heal and can be pain free. Believe it.

Well Amanda, the vanlife is the lowest form of life home maintenance. a mortgage every month, or rent are way more expensive than Chevy parts. I have been a self taught mechanic since i was a teenager. You have the easiest... most reliable mechanical contraption ever made. Its s Blessing. All the parts are still available , moreso in the states, heck even a new engine in a box is only 2300 bucks with a year warrenty. all those New front suspension parts will last you 10 years easily. Its such a win. You are bummed, of course, its yur home and security, but Smile....... The real costs versus rent or house pmt are like a drop in the bucket .. and no sticks n bricks can deliver you to all your destinations, that bring rhe peace and calm you want in this Life. Loved seein FRRRRANNNK Chillin like a Boss on the shorelawn. 😁😁💚💚🤙🤙Things will turn out fine, Peace.🙏🙏🙏

You are bang on with the cost of my vehicle and ease of repairs, that is EXACTLY why I chose this van. My decision to go with a older GMC was very intentional and thought out and while I can do many things myself the front end is beyond my ability to do on the road especially if it involves unloading the springs. I’ll get there though and for cheaper than rent.

Home maintenance and repairs are so expensive now. The mr just had his house recertified for termite inspection today at $299.00 😮 The air conditioner went out last late summer,$10,000 to replace. A/C systems use to be $3,000 preplandemic. The windows need d repairing also, but fortunately we could do that ourselves, but the cost for it would have been $800. Then the cost of homeowners insurance, as well as car insurance keep going up.

I just shared this with my son (because I think he needed it...)
Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again.
And in between the amazing and the awful, it’s ordinary and mundane and routine.
Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life.

I think you will find MANY people are feeling "off" over the past couple of years increasing as we go along. Starting with you-know-what, ever since the direction people are moving is not in tune with the greater good and I think Earth knows this and so vibrations are just much less positive than could be. I stopped to help this guy in 14 passenger van last winter who was baffled why his van wouldn't drive forward after he backed out or off a parking spot. I crawled under to look and the the swaybar brackets and I think the control arm bracket literally ripped out of the rotten frame leaving the entire front wheel set separated from the van. I looked at him like dude you could have totaled this thing at 30mph on a corner and killed yourself and other people except you're crazy lucky, but he had no clue the danger he was putting himself ( and others) in.

The thing you said about buildings be allowed to deteriorate while building new ones. That has bothered me since I was a child. It didn't make sense until I become older and learned about the costs of fixing an old building versus building new. The cost to tear down is prohibitive! We have a local shopping center that was popular and bustling when I was a child and now, it's got about 50% occupied and it's slow. It's depressing. Life is hard....we have to learn how to cope which is easier said than done. I'm still learning....and I'm 66!

Every time we go on a holiday our truck breaks. It is never $200 but closer to $800 to fix.
I learned not to hoard much stuff when we had to clean out my Father's place after he passed away. We had a good idea he was a hoarder but you couldn't really tell, he had it well hidden. . Every nook and cranny had stuff packed in, every structure on the property had stuff crammed into it. He had no idea what he had. He never used it, just stored it. Multiples of everything. It was like time capsules. It took a year to clean it all up.

Your van is your shelter. It's a hard shell. A tortoise shell. A tent would not protect you as well as your armored shell. It was great. But all that ngs end.
Now I live in a step van like Flossy's for four years. I'm 72 and believe me your doing well. It doesn't get better even in the end.....👍🥞

Best wishes to you and Frank ❤

You got the, “sticks ‘n’ bricks syndrome, only on a smaller scale. Watching you and other van lifers, I have been getting rid of stuff. Hard to do at the get go. But, after I did the first purge, I felt some weight off my shoulders, which made it a lot easier to keep it up. Simplifying is therapeutic. Makes living in a house like I do, much more bearable.

I have to say I completely understand the feeling of questioning what I'm doing with my life. I'm 34 and I have a teenage son and I hang on to our apartment because it's what my son knows and where he's comfortable. I think what helps me is working through one day at a time but preparing for tomorrow. Everything changes. So keep enjoying your daily small moments that keep us in the now and just prepare so that when things are changing you will feel comfortable to make transitions. Frank looks great and you look great. Just keep making the next best decision for yourself. You got this and you are not alone.

She is 88 and i love her so much, spending all the time i can with her for now. With the way life and society are at this time, you may be in the best place, able to move on with little notice. Things are stressful, the costs are going higher too. so hang on to it as long as you can... i miss the days i was your age, but now at 71 i feel i may not be able to do what your doing, so i do appreciate being able to see this beautiful place. Hope Frank is better soon. keep your chin up Girl. you can do it !

I have refrained from commenting on your videos because I believe I unintentionally offended you with a past comment. I never mean to offend, well maybe I should say, if I intend to offend it is always obvious. Lol I'm a very blunt person nowadays. But, there are times I've offended without truly meaning to. Anyway, please know offending you is not my intention. Looking from the outside into your world, it's impressive that you've accomplished a good channel for others and you do it genuinely. Most van lifers I watch never show their true feelings or at least don't share them. I've only been out twice in my temp build before my lease expires and I'm full time van life, but it has been discouraging because the cats hate it and that has stressed me the hell out lol I love it minus the fact the van is a disaster because I don't have storage truly yet. Anyway, watching this just confirms we all go through crap and have to adjust and figure out what we want and need. I know I needed to hear it so I'm sure others do too. Flossy does this well too and why I like watching you both. I'm still pushing through the depressive thoughts I have towards van life but in reality they are not that bad and can be managed but man, it can be overwhelming even when it's something you really want. 😊 Happy trails!

You’re doing amazing-don’t forget that! The deep emotional reactions, the sensitivity to environmental stimuli, the need for solitude and reflection , the highly internal conflict and multiple desires, the empathy and connection and many other things make you highly sensitive person, just like me. And many others. We just hide ourselves better and pretend things are fine because it’s just seems overwhelming to even start fighting back. But I do, slowly and surely, and you do to, it’s just that, I feel like sometimes self-care is more important then anything else and you need to be ok with that too. And do not call yourself lazy for it. You’ve got this! 💕

Wow! You just perfectly put into words the same kind of complete overwhelm of too many things to do, weeks and weeks of dishes, laundry, housework, doctor's appointments, keeping up with bills, trying some how to do some form of physical therapy, fighting some days of sleeping 12 hours and other days of so much pain I'm up for 24 hours, sorting out all my prescriptions,... Seems like some of us just have that chaos cloud follow us around while others at least appear on the outside to be all organized,. Right now I feel like the complete disarray of my house that was a catastrophe when I left my last 20 year place that got destroyed by mold and my stuff was schlepped around 7 or 8 times before I settled on this complex, but before I'd been there a week and unpacked four boxes, there was severe water damage and they had to vacate me back to another hotel! They had their maintenance guys move my stuff and they threw it in here like garbage. I had paid the movers 6,000 to put everything precisely where I need it and stack my boxes and I had plenty of room in my house to move an exercise and now there's basically a cat trail.... 😢🎉

Amanda, I can so relate to the angst that sometimes comes with not living in the moment, with looking around and seeing too much “stuff”, and the realization that material goods do not bring you joy.
From my own experience, I have found that when these feelings hit me, it means I need to take time to invest in myself. I find that the solution is to slow down, intentionally, and schedule time to do the things that bring me joy. Explore nature, walk my dogs, visit the dog park with my dogs, or even just take a drive. it’s important to get out of our heads and leave behind the “things to do” lists. Doing this often clears my mind and then I’m more focused on what my actual goals are. Of course it’s easy to say this right now when I’m in the midst of a huge separation, preparing to sell my house and live in my van full-time. Talk about angst LOL.
I really enjoyed this video, particularly seeing Frank having so much fun rolling around on the ground And then when Flossy was preparing the campfire, seeing him chewing on that huge log.
We can definitely learn from our dogs, they know how to live in the moment! If only they could talk and share the secret 😉
At the conclusion of the video, the sunset was simply amazing. I was sitting on my couch and feeling totally relaxed at the sound of the waves and watching the beautiful colors. Thank you for filming that!
I loved hearing the end of your video where you said you were feeling better about your life choices. Sounds like you found the solution for your angst.
Always wishing you the very best!❤

I think all the thoughts you experience, Amanda, the doubts, worries, questions, decisions, choices... I think these exist wherever we exist/however we exist. Life can be interesting, exciting, mundane, stressful, inspirational, and a pain, no matter where we are (house, van, condo, etc.). I've backpacked before too, not nearly as much as you, but a small 75 miles through the PCT in WA State, and a few other 'little' hikes - compared to what you've done, and all the above applied to those experiences too. You are doing great, and are an inspiration to all of us, in this community, created by you. We enjoy your reflections and adventures and stories 😊❤ -- I LOVED seeing the river otter: amazing!! xx

Hi Amanda: I loved this video so much, I stopped watching 1/3 of the way in so I could savor it. So beautiful, and so much courage in your discussion(s) about "when it's all too much" (a grand theme if I ever). I'll just toss in this idea: in your inventory (of stability/mobility/social time/alone time/nature/technology/animal/vegetable/mineral -- sky, water, earth, fire) you have amassed such a base of knowledge: your cinematic instincts have so clearly grown; your narratives; the editing; your understanding of nature in many places; your skills to care for Truck; to take care of yourself and Frank. As a viewer and patron, I have watched your understandings grow so much. As an educator, I say these are things you'll never pay to house; and can never be taken from you. Cherish them. They are true wealth. With love.
