I took that ferry with my friends. I didn't know they had rooms for rent! But if memory serves me, our trip was only 4 hrs & we got off in Victoria, B.C. I loved the ferry ride. The scenery was definitely beautiful! Have fun!!

I went to Haida Gwaii about the same time you last did. I flew in because the only ferry I could get crossed at night, so I was glad to see on your trip this year what I wanted to see on the ferry trip. I met a lot of wonderful people while I was there. One was a woman who had come with her boyfriend for six weeks one summer. They had never left, but had married and had three children and 16 years later she was on her way to the airport to pick up her MIL. I had asked her for a ride because the taxi driver had told me it was a waste of money for him to pick me up and I should just ask someone in line for the short ferry over to the airport road for a ride. I picked someone who was reading a book. So, I'll just wait to see if you actually leave.

So you got a cabin for an eight hour ferry???? Or was it 10?? Wow! That is really nice. When we moved to Alaska in 1982 we were kids and took the ferry up the inland passage. We slept on the deck because we were too poor to get a cabin. It was rough but we made it. Glad you got a cabin. So cool. By the way, I'm liking the bangs.

It can get pretty tippy and heaving, more so than the southern route I would say.

I Took the Inside Passage from Ketchikan to Seattle
all I had was a Duffle Bag full of gear
and some groceries I just put in a Locker
the First Night I spent in a Chair
(While Others Pitched Tents on Deck)
the Last Knight I Notice Nobody was in the Forward Observation Deck
so I had an Acre full of Overstuffed Couches all to Myself...
I Slept in front of a Solid Wall of Windows

thanks for giving use the geographical and historical information about Haida Gawaii. I didn't realize how far away it is from the mainland. My daughter and I both had pitbull mixes and when we'd take them into a motel room they'd go wild bouncing from one bed to the other! High hilarity! That's what you reminded me of, zooming around and dancing in your big private space.
