- We've got some little bullies on our hands...
I call it bullying, but it's sort of establishing a pen order for our bottle (nanny) babies.
We introduced too many, too quickly and some just don't get a chance to drink.
Also sort of spiralling from a negative comment that I read before I was really awake, and it always sets a not so great tone for the rest of my days.
Always try to include as much context as I can with my vlogs, but when lambing is crazy, the editing suffers and it usually bites me in the backside.
As always, you are all so very supportive, and the negative comments are usually due to lack of clarity on my end.

Hi Sandi, I worked as a Hospice RN and learned early on that most people don't know anything about death. They live in a fantasy world where there is always a cure, something you can do to avoid death. Sometimes it just isn't possible. We have watched to give CPR to so many lambs and save them. Have confidence in your own caring and love for what you do. You have. saved so many, and I think you are awesome!
This is so true. Sometimes we die, and even if you're in a medical environment with every possible intervention at your fingertips, it's not enough.

Here’s a comment to make you smile. I grew up on a farm in the midwestern US. We primarily had angus cattle and my Dad trained horses. He also was superintendent of a manufacturing plant. We had sheep for a couple years. He used to come and get us kids and said he would ‘treat us’ to bottle feeding lambs. lol. Now I know we were the ones feeding all the bottle babies. He was pressed for time I’m sure. Such good memories. 🤗

😊 Remember, several months ago, Sandi said if she had to intervene there was a good chance the lamb might be weak in some important area & die anyway. She said the Vet said that she can't second guess nature, and some lambs can't survive no matter how much effort is put into intervention.

So many people feel the need to criticize, even when there is nothing to criticize. So they find anything. “When you walked into the barn, you lead with the left foot. You should always lead with the right foot. I’ll be watching!” Always more ridiculous than not. Hopefully you will get an apology, but don’t hold your breath. (It must be so hard to travel through life when you are perfect in every way, but the rest of the world population is not.)

So true... especially already fragile animals like lambs.
My friend had a rabbit that she took into the vet for an ear infection, and out of nowhere on the table he just suddenly started having trouble breathing, went into cardiac arrest and died.
Turned out he had pneumonia that he hadn't shown a single sign of. It came out of nowhere.
Another she had years before got so frightened by a thunderstorm that his heart stopped.

It is so easy to be an "arm chair" farmer! When you are intensely involved with your livestock, trying to deal with everything at the same time, things out of our control is going to happen, no matter how hard we try! I had a small doe deliver my first set of triplets this spring, on a cold, damp day. She chose a difficult place (for me) to deliver them. I tried to save them all. 1 died before I could get her warmed up, the other died a few days later, and the last one I ended up having to put down months later because of a terminal deformity. We do our best, that's all we can do! Don't beat up on yourself because of a comment from an arm chair farmer!

I rarely comment on CZcams but I want you to know that I can see how much you care for and LOVE helping the baby lambs be born. I also love your care towards the sheep and used your wonderful love for sheep to help teach my 4-5 year olds students the importance of sheep and how we get wool for our clothes to keep us warm. I'm sending warm hugs from Georgia (southeastern USA)! I love seeing those little lambs testing their springs - so doggone adorable! Even with the sometimes rough cuts on occasion, I have never had trouble understanding what was going on. You're doing your best even when the ewes are not. We (your subscribers) know you are not callous about the loss of any of your flock, regardless of how new or old they are - Sandi, you are an inspiration to me! I previously thought farms as large as your couldn't possibly care as much for their animals as small farms do, but I see how much you genuinely care for your sheep! The extra snuggles for that little red bottle baby makes me wonder if you'll pop him into your ram flock instead of sending him off to market when he's large enough. The milk replacer bog had a large tag hanging from the bottom seam. It reminds me of the wash clothes that were stitched into the bottom seam of flour sacks. I'm from a family of share-croppers and small family farmers. Flour sacks and feed sack were once made of cotton print fabric, so that the sack could be used as fabric to make clothes, curtains, quilts.....anything. Because we had so little, we used the sacks to make everything. We made sure to buy the same print to make clothes from, and the scraps from making the clothes were had stitched onto newspaper squares to make quilts. My grandmother passed in 2020. While clearing out the house, we found extra flour sacks she had put back. We all got our choice of prints and still had plenty left to make a quilt. All of use and taking turns quilting the quilt. That small detail in your video, brought back a flood of memories. You make a difference without knowing.
Sandi We had our farm for over 52 years!!! I sold it after my father passed away!!! I became a Veterinarian so I could take care of our animals properly!!! Things happen that are beyond our control!!! We had over 3,000 animals over the years & lost many!!! We had everything!!!(Chickens,sheep,goats,pigs,cows,horses,etc...)!!! I am retired now so I am an avid viewer of all the farm channels!!! I think you are one of the best when it comes to taking care of your sheep!!! Be proud of yourself & ignore the negative comments as they clearly come from the uneducated & inexperienced!!! After several years of being treated for Crohn's, I have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer so I will be watching your videos as much as possible!!! Can't get enough!!!
