The map in the EA battlefronts are more like a traditional fps, designed around limiting walls that force players certain directions while the maps in pandemic's games are designed around landmarks, attacting players to them
And in the originals it feels more like a sandbox.
What lol what map in Bf 2 feels like that for you
One that instantly comes to mind is OG BF1’s bespin platforms. The one little bridge that was just an absolute war zone always brought everyone to it. Same with OG BF2’s Naboo courtyard

I loved the original battlefront 2's space ship combat. I remember doing the campaign where you travel around the galaxy wiping out the enemy, and I would specifically try to play only the space levels. Being able to destroy the enemies carrier ship from the outside while flying around, or by infiltrating and blowing it up from the inside. Mmmm, chef kiss.
Ikr just going in and invading the enemy ships was amazing, also if I am not wrong you could even use the ships weapons

I own rogue squadron on the n64 and its really fun but also very difficult at times.
When it comes to the OG Battlefronts, I actually prefered the shared maps in the 2004 game than in 2005 BF2. They had more character than their BF2 redesigns and even had unique features. I loved the 3-way battle on the sarlaac pit map.
that and i love bespin platforms! since they are both available on backwards capability i have been playing the games even more then i already did! i have PS2 and both games but on my modern TV the resolution is a little wonky and the graphics are muddy. i need one of those HDMI cables for PS2 to help with that

Damn this video made me realize how beautiful mustafar would have looked in swbf2 2017.
In my opinion The originals are just far better because of the wide variety of maps, an underrated campaign, and heroes that can be unstoppable in the right hands. The hero gameplay is a lot more exciting because instead of a lock on system you have to rely on your own skill to kill enemies. And even though most of them have the same abilities, each hero is distinct from one another, whether it be their hero themes or the way they duel.
I’m surprised Ozzy didn’t mention the Lost DLC that was added to Battlefront 2 2005 that gave us heroes such as Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress, that made the game even better in my opinion because it also brought back maps from the previous title like Rhen Var.

Exactly. Having the characters is cool for the supremacy gamemode, but in heroes vs villains I kid you not, EVERY character is annoying
I personally think the sequel trilogy and it's characters are too divisive within the fanbase to the point that it shouldn't be a talking point. Almost everyone can vibe with the prequels and original trilogy, I see hardly anyone simping over the sequel trilogy.

I was actually surprised you gave EA Battlefront the point for the gameplay. I know OG Battlefronts’s gameplay has aged, but I get a lot more fun out of it then I ever did with EA’s Battlefront. I think it just comes down to your style of gameplay.
OG Battlefront’s gameplay feels a lot quicker and to the point. You choose your class and your spawn point, and then you fight, like in TF2. Heroes are absolutely terrifying to fight against because not only are they strong, they’re fast. The reducing health bar does balance it though, so they can’t just camp. While many of them have similar moves, all of them have a different set that goes along with it. Each map has a different layout.
It just feels a lot more fun for me, it actually feels like a battle with it’s quick pace.

My favorite map in the entire series was Tatooine: Dune Sea from the very first Battlefront. There were 3 factions fighting, sand people included. Overall, the first Battlefront from 2004 still has the best maps imo.
The best was the first because it didn't matter how much money or time the player put into it. You bought the game and had access to everything and the reward for playing was knowledge. The split screen took friendships to the limit.

I have a problem with this, as in the new Battlefront games, each hero is expressly unique, with hardly any characters sharing abilities that are only ever slightly similar.
In Battlefront 2005, 5 of the characters all had the exact same abilities, those characters being Luke, Obi-Wan, Mace, Ki-Adi, and Maul, all sharing the Saber Throw, and Force Push abilities.
Plus, the 2005 heroes only had a total of 5 force abilities overall. Sure, the blaster heroes had their own abilities, but most of them still weren’t that unique.
And let’s not forget that 2004’s Battlefront 1 didn’t even HAVE playable heroes. Only having Luke, Vader, Mace, and Dooku spawn in as invincible AI controlled characters to ensure that your team won.
Battlefront 2015 and 2017 definitely should have earned that point alone, since ALL of their heroes have been unique from the start, and they have all been playable

The original battlefront games both have something very special that the newer battlefront games do not, and that is the fact that you could choose to do almost anything without restrictions. What I meant with "without restrictions" is the fact that the original battlefront games allowed you to do many things. I'll take the classic battlefront II's space battle's as an example. When you load into a space battle, you either had the option to:
*Go to the room the auto turret defenses are in, and pilot the turrets manually so you can shoot down enemy fighters.
*Board the enemies ship by flying either an Rebel Alliance Attack Craft, Droid Gunship, LAAT, or an Imperial Shuttle into the enemy hanger and landing.
*Or you could simply, fly a fighter and engage in an space dogfight with enemy fighters.
You could literally do all of this without the need of battle points, or pickups. Versus the newer battlefront games, you'd either need to run into a pickup before somebody else gets it (2015 battlefront), or you'd need to save battle points to spend on an fighter (2017 battlefront II).
Hopefully you guys know what I am trying to say. Newer battlefront games are limited in terms of freedom.

When I first heard of a new battlefront I got exited! I was thinking it was going to be much better than the originals with modern day graphics and mechanics! Man I couldn’t have been more wrong and more disappointed. I felt like I waisted money.
Literally all they need to do is remake the og battlefront 2 with updated animations, visuals, and maybe sprinkle in a new map or two and some new heroes

The classic BF had the option to choose an era for most of the maps. Let's say you want to play in the Death Star with the Clone Wars era. The conquest mode in the new games felt very limited.
I think they stuck to canon battle scenarios in the new one.
Not to mention og bf2 got a update with 2 new heroes Kit Fisto and and Ventress

EA battlefront 2 has good lightsaber combat and abilities, and most blaster heros/villains can compete against the lightsaber users. Honestly should be new starwars games with that point
The new Battlefront 2 has more game modes in general, not to mention it improves upon 2005 Battlefront 2's hero modes exponentially, not limiting it to a single (or 4 if you were on Xbox) maps. It feels unfair to decide that point based entirely on one mode imo.
Half of those game modes are practically unplayable due to most of community not being interested in them
but all the heroes in the new bf 2 actually are unique and each one feels like it's own character whereas in the original which I do love most of the abilities are the same

You forgot that 2005 had a DLC that added Kit Fisto and Assad Ventress. That DLC also added every map from the first battlefront into the second one.
The problem is that the DLC is gone for everyone as it went down with the Online of the Original Xbox

My favorite one is actually the 2004 battlefront, it just has the most fun core gameplay loop imo, and I didn’t start playing it til I was in middle school, well after their initial release and after I had played newer games with better graphics, I still have more fun with it on the ps2 than 95% of modern shooters

I feel like you should have talked about controls more, both of the categories of games you talked about have distinct controls and play much differently. I say this because running around and jumping efficiently in the originals can get you around very quickly compared to the newer titles, though you will have to keep your stamina in mind. And the heroes in the older games are more open and have special jumping abilities and have a “force run” to make them faster, making them feel like heroes. The newer titles have their attacking on rails, and it feels encumber some. The newer Battlefronts feel like Street Fighter, while the older ones are like Smash Bros. Like, in Street Fighter you can make cool combos but you lose the freedom of movement that Smash offers, which is important even in a Sci-fi shooter.

11:50 i think i have to disagree with you on that point.. The old BF2 had a lot more maps no question. But the maps of the new BF2 are way more detailed than the old ones. And in my opinion quality is worthier than quantity.
@Dylan Drummond But there's some maps in the original where hallways just because clusterfucks and as soon as you walk in the doorway you get hit by a grenade or 12 different rockets. Mustafar is an example right next to the command post next to the bridge. Or Polis Massa in the long hallway connecting the two different sides of the map. Super fun though.

I think the new Battlefronts should win heroes. Most of the lightsaber heroes in the old battlefront were very similar, at least to me. Sure, the old Battlefront had Mace Windu and Jango, but these are the only two who I think were truly missing in the new games. The new battlefronts have more original trilogy heroes, not counting Jyn and Krennic. All the heroes in the new Battlefronts are unique and offer their own playstyles, compared to the cut and paste of the originals.
Note: I haven't played the originals in a long time, so correct me if my memory is wrong.

Even removing all the dlc characters if you were to compare old games to new games for character roster the new games have WAY more heroes than the old games did and again that is not even including hero ships. And again on the new ones they mostly play different and have different play styles. In the old games many of the lightsaber hero’s played the same. New games should have easily gotten the point there
@@dshootsmusic cut a third off of that new game hero count and you get a better comparison since the sequels didn’t exist yet. In addition, the heroes and just as varied in attacks as the new ones. They all have different combos and force abilities.

Outstanding presentation. I also give some points on the physical box sets with the discs and graphics. I enjoy displaying my old game collection a true work of art worthy of the genius of the game makers.
In my opinion, you did miss out the specific location for certain maps like how Tatooine has Jabba’s Palace and the Marketplace, as well as the other game modes in the EA/Dice games like HvV or Starfighter Assault. But, overall really good and fair comparison
Imma apart of the new generation so the two new battlefront games hold a special place in my heart. Honestly BFll is such a big step up from 2015.
I will always like the new ones better but if you like the old ones thats fair.

I'm in the younger generation as I was born in 2005, but I grew up on the older ones. I was 10 when the new battlefront came out. I got it when I was 11. I got the original battlefront 2 when I was 5. I've always loved the older ones more, but I can see why someone growing up on these likes them more. I wish you got to experience Galactic conquest though😉

Ozzi Jedi said that OG battlefront 2 might be at a disadvantage because it doesn't have the non cannon Disney trilogy, however i think it gives the OG battlefront 2 an advantage because they can focus more on badass characters from the Clone wars and less on beeping soccer balls🤣🤣🤣
I preferred ahsoka tano, asajj ventress, general po, qui gon jinn to be in hero mode content all the clone wars heroes inside the contents... It feels more immersive...
Can we also point out that if the original battlefronts had the capabilities of post launch content like EA and vice versa if EA didn't have post launch content I think that the original Battlefront games would have won no doubt

Walker assault was awesome. 2015's Star Wars Battlefront looked AMAZING. My buddy and I downloaded the free beta, and we were just FLOORED by what the graphics were at the time. Not only that, but it both felt like a Star Wars game and a true shooter. I loved it.
My first time playing Walker assault, the were TONS of people playing. It felt like a true large-scale invasion of Hoth. We were the rebellion, and futilely trying to stop those walkers was exhilarating. I also specifically remember dying during my first game, in the final stretch where the walkers were within sight of the base. I was in a trench, firing at the walker with everything I had. A TIE above me was shot, and it started to dive down towards the ground. I looked helplessly as it swung around at the very last second and crashed into my trench, killing me with the impact! That was amazing!
We played Survival on local co-op, too, and that was a blast! It truly felt like we were stranded on Tatooine, left to face the imperial horde.
If a game company as large as EA is willing to give away all of these features FOR FREE, then the FULL game must be incredible! We were SO HYPED.
And then we bought the game at launch and the full version was the exact same as the free demo.
2017's Battlefront 2 was bad at launch, too, but the hero combat is till the best of any Star Wars game, in my opinion. And at this point, despite the lack of what is, in my opinion, the best Battlefront game mode (which is the TRUE space battle, where you're an infantry unit IN a spaceship, able to fly around the battlefield or try to sabotage from within), I think Battlefront 2 from 2017 is the best Star Wars game ever made. And it's sad, because there are some features that it's obviously lacking that could put it over the top as just one of the best games of all time. A few more cosmetics, adding heroes like Ahsoka, Mace Windu, Asajj Ventress, Cad Bane, actually supporting the space combat with maybe adding some revamped units, such as the Ghost instead of eight different Millennium Falcons, and then incorporating that into a TRUE galactic conquest mode... That would make this game perfect.
My main complaint from this that makes it unfair is that when he talked about modes he literally covered 1 mode when there are so many others
The main gamemodes though. Only real gamemodes which get players are CS, GA, HvV, and Co-op
yea, considering that bf2 (17) had like 20 game modes. it had HvV(1), HS(2), hero starfighters(3), starfighter assault(4), Galactic assault(5), Co-op for 6 factions(11), Instant action(12), arcade(13),Blast(14), Strike(15), ewok hunt(16), CS for 3 eras(19), extraction(20). (Just the ones off the top of my head), no way 1 game mode, no matter how good it is, is never worth 19 extra game modes.

Okay, put the nostalgia bias behind-Battlefront 2.5 is the better game hands down. I played the old one for well over 1,000 hours, but if the new one was available instead?

I would prefer to play og battlefront 2 bcus of galactic conquest maps and heros but tbh i really love the original battlefront for these reasons- both bespin levels, tatonnie dune and kyasheik although we cudnt play as heros it was fun blowing them off of bespin platforms and having the heros meet in the middle tunnel , and the fact that you can fly tie fighters and x wings in the regular maps, graphics to me are a tad bit more realistic than bf2 like comparing gta 4 to gta 5, gta 5 is more cartoony in my opinion. I recently just bought both on ebay... Played bf 2025 and it felt like call of duty not star wars
Edit: and who can forget the one time a star wars game actually got the speeder right... When your riding it feels slow but if your watching another person on it then they are flying like a rocket

A couple other points worth mentioning:
In classic Battlefront 2, ALL gamemodes are accessible in singleplayer and splitscreen. Nothing is online-only and everything is preserved, which will give the classics longer staying power once EA's servers inevitably shut down.
Most planets in classic Battlefront 2 are not exclusive to just one era. You can do both Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War battles on Tatooine, Naboo, Mygeeto, Yavin 4, Mustafar, Felucia, and even on maps such as the Tantive IV and the Death Star! Creates a lot more variety, even if some might call that variety an illusion.
I have to say, I agree with most points made in this video, but for me I would've given the map point to the new games. It's quality over quantity in my mind, and with maps like bespin on EA's side, I think the new games come out on top.
I always loved the maps in the first battlefront game. I always loved jetpacking around places to find hiding spots on maps like Citadel and bespin. I think Citadel is my all time favorite battlefront map

not only does the old games give the player more freedom with where they want to go, but they also have almost no kill barriers to speak of unless you travel far away from the combat zone
and on top of that battlefront 2 (2005) did something really ballsy that no other battlefront game has done since : cross era content.
in rise of the empire campaign you do play as the 501rst from geonosis to hoth, 2 levels stick out to me on that campaign: kamino and mustafar
you as a stormtrooper fight clones on the former and droids on the later.
as for galactic assault, i feel insulted they tried calling it conquest.
EA (or dice, which either) did not understand that that battlefront is a tactical shooter and not an fps, and that galactic conquest is inherently a strategy part of the series.

Mate you are a legend to make this video..and surely the old school Battlefront had so much more going on (defo ahead of its time) but BRILLIANT. The new one's weren't bad at all, we surely needed the visual upgrade and ofcourse gameplay but like they say- OLD IS GOLD.

I feel like3 with the maps, there is more than just the variety of planets and such you need to take into account. I would also take into account cover, choke points, balance, and verticality. In which case, I would have to give the map's point to the new ones. The old maps are just plain and are not all that fun to play on anymore having gotten a taste of the new games.

- Looking back, there was no sprinting in the game
- you can't play as heroes
And that's about it. Loved the game
I feel like the inclusion of heroes is part of what killed the rest of the design in the later games though. Adding sprint similarly made the gameplay less "realish infantry ground combat in sw" and more "CoD the SW mod"
Ok I don’t think it’s really a competition. The 2005 battlefront 2 wins hands-down. It had loads of content, fun gameplay, and good variety, not to mention the game launching with all of it intact and working, without any corporate greed involved. By far the best. Not to mention the campaign was stellar.

I still play both old Battlefront games on PS2, and honestly I Like the OG one better. It's the atmosphere that makes the difference for me in comparison. In Battlefront II, the Maps are designed for "Instant Action" with the Command Posts placed very Close to each other in an attempt to Bring the opposing Sites very close together. Meanwhile, in the OG Battlefront, the Command Posts the different Teams own at the start are very far away from each other, with neutral Posts placed in between. That leads to a fantastic "Calm before the storm"-atmosphere on the big Maps Like Hoth or Rhen Var, where you don't get thrown into immediate Action but instead see the enemy forming Up and starting their Attack while your team prepares for their own defende and counterattack, including mounting the available vehicles at the Command Post you spawned. You can e.g. lead your Army into battle while blasting the enemy in your AT-TE from far - feels very authentic! Also the OG Battlefront Features Air vehicles on ground battles. Overall, the OG Battlefront has very diverse battles giving you plenty of Options to choose from to give it your own individual touch. Most importantly though, the result of the Battle also heavily depends on the choises you Take, Like e.g. if you mount a LAAT or start fighting the enemy on foot on Geonosis influences the Outcome of the whole battle. Regarding the campaign, I did Like the First two Levels in which you Fight two Sites you cannot Fight outside These two Missions at all, playing as a B-1 Battledroid (which btw is also only available at These occassions) - The Gungans & the Royal Guards. Furthermore, the Tuscan Raiders & Ewoks are opponents or supporting you, not to forget the Javas repairing the vehicles. And last not least, the Option to completely blast a Planet Out of the universe in the Conquest with the Death Star also was quite fun.
From what I see, a lot of people like the older Battlefront games due to nostalgia. I'm not saying the older games were bad (they are good in certain areas), but the newer Battlefronts were superior in a lot of ways.

Naw. Whats there to compare? The vehicles? They're tons more, better to use, and more enjoyable. The weapons? More in the OG's plus power up weapons for almost every class. This new game maybe does a few things at most better.
I actually do have a small theory about that. Yes i agree with you, but at the same time, it's EA's fault for rebooting battlefront. I believe if EA would of made a new/different Star Wars Title instead of trying to "catfish" people with the title "Battle front", this game would have been more liked.
If the new Battlefront games would have been call, for example, "Star Wars: Galactic Assault" i bet there would be alot less complains about the game cause no one would be comparing it to the originals.

The Heroes section neglected to mention that the very first Battlefront didn't have playable heroes and that was a selling point of the second. Heroes were an option you could turn on, but they were an invincible NPC that would roam the map.
All I needed was galactic conquest. That was by far my favorite mode.

To be honest, I think new Battlefront 2 holds up against old Battlefront 2. I've been playing each of them back and forth and each of them do some things better than the other. For instance, EA Battlefront 2's hero system is a lot better than OG Battlefront 2's imo. On the other end of things, OG Battlefront 2 had a better space combat mode than EA Battlefront 2 did. Also, Galactic Conquest is fun and they need to bring that back.
Galactic assault with mods is the shit. Heroes are way to weak in the OG Battlefront 2 though which doesnt make them rewarding.

I liked the level in 2005 SWBF2 where you pressed X to have Padme die from sadness. Why they didn’t put in a similar level in the new game where Leia flies into space is beyond me.

I loved star wars battlefront 2004, me and my brother would constantly play this on the ps2 and it showed me how much I loved fps games. Later down the line I played battle front 2 2005 and I loved it. I really hope that battlefront 3 will have most if not all of the old maps redone in a modern style with galactic conquest . Both games are awesome, but you cant compare them.
The way both games work are so different now its impossible to compare. If you want a chillaxed single player star wars battlefront game and dont care much about graphics and want infinite mods, the original.
If you want a newer more polished with more content while being centered around multiplayer get the new one.

I think you can take graphics into account for games that are released around the same time on the same generation of consoles. But when your comparing 2 games where one is a decade and 2 generations oulder than the other its definitely unfair because ps4 games are always going to look better than ps2 games.

Pretty good analysis video. I have believed for years that the original two games are better than the new ones, both easily better than the 2015 Battlefront, and depending on what your looking at better than the 2017 version. Overall I prefer both the 2004 and the 2005 games to the 2017, although I have had many many many hours of enjoyment in the 2017 version.
I just wish that they would re-release both of the original games digitally and with multiplayer, they would be so popular, and make some good money for the companies with very little effort.
The PC version on Steam is still going strong.

Try GC and then come back. EA BF game modes are real trash and most are completely dead. Theres also no single player for long levity. All it wins in is Heroes and Design which is to be expected tbh.

@@chip1646 This is gonna be extremely controversial but galactic conquest is super basic and nothing special. I think people mainly love the mode due to nostalgia. It's literally just instant action but with an added game board element like Empire at War except this game board element is the most basic and stripped down version of that. BF2 essentially has all the same modes as the OG BF2 and more. BF 2015 had even more game modes and most if not all of them were fun in their own way although it was lacking a conquest style mode.

Darth Nerd there was no infantry wars there. The only battle that happened was order 66
l only played the Classic and New SWBF2. My only problem is, that yea, maps had sort of Era specific music. And Heroes had their own bgm.
New SWBF2 is like listening to a star wars music mix in the background, nothing is related to the maps and heroes don't have their own bgm when playing them.
Loved to play as Maul in the old game with Duel of the Fates going in the background!
I absolutely love both era of games; each have their pros and cons. The original for the incredible maps/battles/space and the classes while EA has a more fluid combat with heroes/villains and selection of heroes/villains. I wish EA had decided to continue to support SWB2 like Ubisoft or Paradox support some of their games!
In The original Battlefront 2 most of the heroes did the same thing and almost all of them had the same abilities and made it a little boring to be a hero
They were also pretty bad compared to the infantry. They were still all so much fun, especially Heroes vs Villians

I love that you did this. As cook as the graphics are for the new BF games, there was on option that the old BF games had that I wished the new ones had, That was galactic conquest. You could choose your faction and fight for different worlds, no matter what time period. You could be the rebel alliance and be fighting stormtroopers on Kashyyk. You don't get that option in the newer BF games. Which kind of sucks.
Another thing that I find slightly annoying about the new BF games. You have your race, sex and gender chosen for you. This is annoying because I love. love love playing survival on Tattooine in BF 2015. But it's a bit annoying that I always get spawned in as a woman.
I think for all the technical advances that have occurred, you should be able to build a character that you identify with.

Theres absolutely no reason to play bf1 2004 execpt nastalgia cause everything that game does good bf2 2005 does better. But there is a reason to go back to bf1 2015 for certain modes like capture the flag, waves, training, exclusive heros, bespin, and of course the beloved trench run. Also it had the vr mission which is nice:)

@@austinmoss4134 Although I agree, there is some stuff from the OGs that are better. For example, as the guy said, I would much rather have Mustafar and Coruscant than Kessel. EA forced DICE to put in those planets and characters like BB8 because they wanted a tie-in, but if they let DICE do their things, I bet BF (2017) would have beat almost any Star Wars game in general.
I think you're 100% on the mark. Personally I'd like to see MMORPG (Minus to much gear obsession) that looks and plays like the new Battlefront II. The chance to create a Jedi or Sith with the option to choose your own combination of the 7 lightsaber forms as your fighting style, along with a talent tree of force abilities. Same goes for bounty hunters, heavy troopers, Smugglers, and everything else you'd want to be in Star Wars. No auto aim bullshit or obsession with gear, the progression is based on gaining new skills, traversing an immersive story, and a constant war being raged for Galactic conquest. Taking a page from SWTOR's character development and choices, along with interactions with characters across all eras of Star Wars based on the personality choices you've made since day one. Each expansion would involve traveling to, and experiencing a different era of Star Wars via The World Between Worlds. The PvP and PvE would be INSANE in such a game!
We need a comparison video of jedi fallen order and the force unleashed games.

@@vedantleva2508 some people will never have the same experience as people who played them years ago either a few years after they came out or when the came out because at the time there was really no other game like it other like it. Games like Ravenfield get me excited because they take what battlefield and battlefront has done and they go back to the roots of big epic warfare in a singleplayer shooter. I've played all the old battlefronts including renegade and elite squadron and I'd say I prefer the old ones just slightly because of a few things the new games are missing like galactic conquest and how the space combat worked.

The og battlefront 2 was better because it felt more like Battlefield games. Maps were 2x or even 3x bigger than in EA's Battlefront. There were many vehicles you could jump in and out at any time. EA's Battlefront feels very similar to Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. Supremacy feels like a demo version of og Conquest.

I like that the original Battlefront had no heroes [from what I remember when I played last] and was just straight Troop combat where you picked and you went.
Battlefront two added more modes and heroes along with more troop variety
EA's first focused on the OT setting and has one of my FAVE single player modes, being a wave survival set up, no class system letting you fully customize your load out, yeah my main issue with Ea's first is that all the Dlc is online only.
Ea's second is just about the best in everything. Tons of modes, maps, heroes and so much offline to enjoy as well. Unlike Ea's first just about everything you had online was also there Offline as well.
Im gonna be honest, id play all four of them at almost any time and I wish this series made it to Nintendo Switch or that the older games could come to ps4.

EA's 1st Battlefront had all of its "content" locked behind a season pass. Thier 2nd Battlefront tried to scam people with loot boxes and when that backfired, took several years to get a bunch of acceptable content and then EA ditched the game in a gutter. The OG Battlefront games came out feature complete on day 1.
I have an issue with these lists because they value each category equally which isn’t really the case in reality. The gameplay, for example, is far more important than anything else and when trying to compare games that factor should be taken into account. Most people these days would not play the older battlefronts, even though you could argue it was better in more categories. To me, that means the new games are better. They are more fun with more engaging gameplay, and the areas they are lacking in are (for the most part) relatively close.
That ignores that the fact that people being willing to try something means nothing of quality
