- Hello everyone. Today's video is yet another installment of our ongoing series to make our own "better" version of the classic BMW e46 M3. Our project car started out as a 2001 BMW 325ci and has since gotten a full M3 drivetrain, suspension, custom fuel setup, and more. But the crown jewel of the build is the 2JZ engine swap. We've taken this 2JZ build from a junkyard 2JZ-GE VVTi, limited to about 400hp and built it out using 2JZ-GTE parts to make it capable of handling 1000+ horsepower. This video is part two of our rebuild series for the 2JZ swap. In this video we get our complete long block reassembled. We are inching closer to getting this thing back up and running so that we can FINALLY hear that sweet 2JZ sound. How did you clear the crankcase from the rack and pinion when doing the what on the e46?
As far as getting the engine in? It just took a lot of wiggling and finessing. I’ve had the engine in and out half a dozen times at this point too. Sometimes I drop the front subframe to make it easier. As far as final positioning; the TDR mounts let me slide the engine back about an Inch for better clearance.

Hey man was your drive shaft too long? I cant get me 1j to sit any further forward without hitting the oil pan. I need about 3” to get my sedan manual shaft in.
Hey brother. Yes my factory driveshaft, transmission linkage, and shifter bracket were all too long by almost exactly 3 inches. I have a custom driveshaft from Drift HQ, an IRP shifter, and I just cut and welded the linkage to be shorter
