  • Working on the Mustang is happening around here! In this video I'll run you through the awesome Shock Tower Export Brace from Total Control Products and install it on the Autoedit Ford Mustang... we call Large Marge.
    This is only part of the multi-stage engine bay bracing kit from Total Control Products. With this new firewall mounting plate, their export brace will now work on all early Mustangs. The 1/4" aluminum plates and rods are lighter than the stock steel export brace and offer much more rigidity.
    If you want you could combine this export brace with the TCP Monte Carlo bar and struts to completely triangulate the engine bay and add some super sweet looking parts.
    Here's a link to the kit on the TCP web page:
    www.totalcontrolproducts.com/t...
    If you don't see the 71-73 Mustang application yet... just give them a call... it's super new!
    Thanks so much for watching and please subscribe to the Autoedit You Tube channel!

    It's looking good! Excited to see and hear it run. My first mustang was a 72 with a 351w. She was a rusty bucket! As far as the gauges go I have always liked the look of Dakota Digital. They may have one that drops right in but has modern functionality.

    If it was an 80's mustang I'd totally go for a custom led bar graph dashboard, with 7-segment display for speed. But that'd be quite a bit of electronics to custom make. In the case of Large Marge I feel like classic style analog gauges are appropriate. I'd even say put some things like oil pressure, boost, and other extras on the center console, budget permitting.

  • @Stuka87

    Most people put some outward pre-load on the strut bars to prevent the struts from moving in at all. If they are adjusted 'neutral' it will allow the struts to move in and out some before the bars catch them. That is a really cool kit. You may have to go with a bent bar to clear the super charger snout.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 6 lety

      Yes, I've seen that as well... I'm going to try it like this and start tuning when it's driving.

    • @Stuka87

      Thats the nice thing about the adjustable bars. You can tighten and loosen the front end super easy to get it to handle like you want.

    For the gauges display give it the LED light display & a central choice option connected to the steering wheel, identical to the current model mustangs. A nine inch centralized control screen will suit for the rest (air con, radio etc) I think. As for the rest of the interior (if budget allows) give it that Dave Kindig (Kindig Customs)look & revive it into the 21st century kind of look. Finally Jason if by chance you see a dislike on this post it was unintentional. I posted this via my samsung phone & seated in my truck cabin getting rocked about by forklifts unloading my trailers and my finger was accidently missing it's target. Superb work on the Mustang👍👍👍

    Hi Jason,
    I've been watching these Large Marge videos since you started that series, and first of all, congrats for the amazing job on that car ! I like the fact that you "keep it real", it seems to me that you'd rather buy the best quality parts even if that means that you have to be patient and save some cash for that (it's also cheaper in the long run since crappy parts are never a bargain in the end). Also, I like the fact that you don't go "overkill", as you are using a pushrod 5.0 Cobra that you customized instead of buying an off the shelf Coyote or something like that. Large Marge is modernized but not too much in my opinion, for these reasons, I'll tend to go for the Auto Meter gauges as, IMO once again, I think they'd fit the spirit of the car better. These were just my 2 cents. Thanks for the videos and the amazing job ! Can't wait to hear Large Marge's roar with these Super 10's !

      @AutoEdits  Před 6 lety

      Thanks! I was going back and forth on those bolts... once the front struts are installed it might look better if the nuts are facing inward on the mounting plate... we'll see when it all gets together. But normally I would do what you suggested.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 6 lety +1

      I haven't driven it yet but I built gussets that should keep the flex down. When I was bleeding the brakes, I pressed the pedals very hard to check for that and they seemed rock solid.
