"how about a genre shift just two games in"
Zelda - "hold my beer"
Yeah he should've acted surprised considering he's already covered the LoZ games.
Deuce Moncura it’s when a something completely changes it’s style
Zelda and Zelda 2 were both still RPGs.
EightThreeEight yes, but the first one was top down while the second was side scrolling
@@titanium_rocket1505 I know. But it's not as drastic a genre shift as Star Fox 64, a flight simulator shoot 'em up, being followed by Star Fox Adventures, a third-person action-adventure game with very few shoot 'em up sections.
meanwhile, everyone forgets about assault. the underappreciated middle child with decent TPS sections, good landmaster controls, the return to the arwing everyone was waiting for but didn't know they had, and an alright plot to boot.
Yeah, you know it really does bother me though because I wonder if things would have been different if dinosaur planet had just stayed dinosaur planet would that have changed assault?
@@locklear308 Probably, since Kyrstal wouldn’t be a Star Fox character anymore. But that means only Assault’s story would be changed

WHAT IS THIS?!?!? AND WHY IS IT IN MY STAR FOX GAME NO! ...nnnNO I'VE HAD IT! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! IF ONE MORE FUCKING WOLLY MAMMOTH TRIES TO DBVS,BVSALBFLUFWEH;9FERLI,VSD;FLQW4IFFWTE;9I.F;eath9qe;.8iweChUEa.fiwrluawegvucla;9fy84q[yiea
The game kinda looks like it would've been interesting if it had stayed Dinosaur Planet. I'm inclined to think the extra time it took for them to insert Star Fox stuff into the story and design the Arwing stuff took away time from building their originally-planned world and characters. Might still have come out as an average-to-decent adventure game if it hadn't been rebranded, but more dedicated focus usually translates into better design.
true
Krystal was supposed to be playable for half the game originally, so if nothing else you know whatever story there was was totally destroyed to make room for Star Fox.
Think of it like this, at least this can be remade, because if it was what it originally was supposed to be, Rare would've just ruined it and or killed it like they did with all their games after being bought out. I've explained it already, but what I'm basically saying is this game dodged a bullet, if you want to see this game remade then show some demand.
Cheeseman - apparently the end point of Adventures was the half point, it was supposed to be much longer, but due to the buyout that point became the end. Andross was shoehorned in since they couldnt get the actual final boss made, which was basically Fox & Krystal vs Scales.
Banjo-Kazooie nuts/bolts(Also from Rare) is an extremely similar situation. It would have been more enjoyed by the community if it was a new IP instead of an existing property which was very different in design. The Bionic Commando reboot is along the same lines as well. Looking forward to the SAO videos, by the way.
I think Miyamoto resented the fact that Rare were working on their own Zelda-esque game. They made Banjo Kazooie which was leaps and bounds ahead of Mario 64.
If he wasn't so interfering and controlling, who knows what we would have gotten?
I died at the "Metroid alarm"
I wonder when Johnny installed that thing?
+Zachary Lewis he said "installed back in 2010 after Other M"
+Kyle Campbell I think he has a sonic alarm two
ikr XD
What would even play for a Sonic Alarm?
It's like the Universe just doesn't want Johnny to do the Star Fox marathon.
I thought that too he went through Metal Gear Solid and Earthbound no problem but Star Fox nah let's have 3-4 episodes of other games and side step in the middle of the marathon.
Well what with that latest game, the universe is trying to save him from a terrible experience.
Pretty much. It's so ironic because Nintendo itself just neglect Star Fox, not knowing what to do with the series but constantly rebooting, and here's Johnny neglecting Star Fox as well. It's his channel and whatever, but still
I dont care for Star Fox anyway, so I actually prefer that way.
But I am really looking forward to Megaman X Marathon.
Or maybe Johnny does not want to do the marathon... DUN DUN DUUUUN
AKA you won't see Starfox assault review until 2017.

I hope he really likes it. Assault is my favorite Star Fox game.

According to Norm, the Gaming Historian, Miyamoto did admit that turning Dinosaur Planet into a Star Fox game probably wasn't a good idea.
Which video did he say that? I don't remember him saying that. o.o
There is more that he needs to admit are not bad ideas.
Watched it, OP's lying on that detail. Supposedly critics said it, not Miyamoto.
***** Star Fox Zero is not a bad game.
Miyamoto didn't say that. the critics did retrospectively.
I don't care what anyone says, this game was my introduction to Starfox, I thought it was fantastic, I loved this game, on it's own.
Glad to see you can't take another persons opinion, or accept the flaws of a game.
+KidSnivy69 I'm not denying anyone's opinion. Anyone can have their opinion, but I'm allowed to have mine as well. i'm merely stating that I enjoyed this game for what it was all those years ago. It was special for me in a way that, I'll admit, just doesn't mean shit to other people. I accept that, have your opinion, but as for me, I'll always enjoy this game. That's all I'm trying to say.
Well your original comment didn't give any sign of that.
+KidSnivy69 I did. I may not have clarified or gave any insight, but indeed say regardless of anyone's elses, I loves this game. Though I will admit after rereading, a bit more context would have been beneficial.
FoXtroT Films Thank for seeing how I was confused. And if you love the game, I'm fine with that. It's just without the second comment context it seem kind of arrogant (though I'm not one who should talk)

This is what I expected from you. I know that you wouldn't just bash this game to the ground for not being a Star Fox game, and I am also glad (and knew) that you didn't just took it easy with it either. Also thank for not saying anything about Stai- you know what? not going to say it, I just hate that name. For me, Star Fox Adventures is an EXTREMELY average game with fun set pieces the dungeons, most of Krazoa shrines and 3 of the 5 bosses. However, it is hinder because of lack of character, backtracking, and some un enjoyable set pieces.
Johnny usually gives well reasoned critique
because Johnny doesn't bandwagon on the general populous opinion on games only on own his experience with them
I found the game to be a bit bland (I didn't like the ar-wing sections as to me they felt like they were shoved in to attract star fox fans and are very short, some areas are not that interesting and I hate backtracking in most cases especially in adventure games or in areas I have no interest in) but it does have its fair share of decent moments like the dungeons. I wish they kept its dinosaur planet concept instead of shoving star fox into it. It might not have been bashed as much if they had done that.
That's why we love him. He's so relatable
+KidSnivy69 Except for when he complained about Metroid Prime 3's linearity when the other two were just as linear.
I won't lie Starfox Adventures is one of my favourite games of all time. I went into it with no Starfox knowledge and fell in love with it. But i do understand your points johnny. That's why you are a great youtuber you don't just nitpick like Jontron did with this game.
You mean StairFax Temperatures?
Except Jontron didn't nitpick, this game is that mediocre and it has nothing to do with Star Fox.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time one of the comments mentions "Stairfax Temperatures"
I think that would probably kill me.
Well I'm dead for starters.
Enjoy the alcohol poisoning.
I was going to do this comment, but I changed my mind.
Concordia Harmony it's pretty dumb
Am i the only one who actually enjoyed this game? i mean not as a star fox game but just in general? Actually i liked it as a star fox game too. i mean there isn't really anything particularly bad about it... its just an average game.
It not that the game is bad or not enjoyable. It's just basic.
I have a soft spot for the game despite its blandness. Its an enjoyable adventure game.
I don't mind the game. (I would rather play this than some of the mundane missions in assault) The problem is that like Kidsnivy said is that it is basic and other games have done it better before hand.
Of course you aren't. Don't be stupid
I really like this game too. It's a very fun, atmospheric adventure game with beautiful environments, memorable characters, and pretty good gameplay. I loved this game as a kid. I still really enjoy it despite its flaws.
Why do so many people dislike this game? Star Fox Adventures is one of my favorite games ever.
I too found it amazing =)
Alyson J.
It was seen as too much of a 180 for the series (a series with only two games where one of them is a *reboot* )
Have you played Adventures recently? I feel this is the kind of game that's really not as good as you remember it being. How I felt about it changed drastically after revisiting it
Thank you! Personally I would like to see them do another game just like it. This time playing as Krystal as she uncovers her past and the death of her parents.
The game is great, people dislike it not because its a bad game, but because its not a real Starfox game. I loved it, and the gameplay was great, and many of my friends site it as their favorite game of all time. While I wouldn't go that far, I'd say its a great adventure game. Not a great SF game, but I prefer to most others because the genre is more enjoyable to me.
Its good to actually see an actual and reasonable "review" of this game, and not just a bunch of fanboy bitching about how its "Not the same" or "Not like 64"
*cough* Jontron *Cough*
Dr MechaPyro jontron is not a reviewer he's a comedian who plays video games.
@@Obscure_man31 And now he's neither, he's just a dude who looks at wacky videos and writes skits around his reactions to them.
@@LordArikado his flex tape videos are great
Why does nobody ever talk about how well designed a lot of the characters and parts of the world are. I mean, the first boss is a GIANT FUCKING SPIDER-T-REX and Drakor is probably one of my favourite boss designs in Nintendo history. I mean, sure the fight is shit, but look up his design. He is a giant Cyborg dragon with a laser cannon.
Yeah, and they all played like Zelda Boss #X
Fun fact, Drakor was originally meant to be the main antagonist of Dinosaur Planet besides General Scales. Transforming this game into a Star Fox title really did do the damage against those two in favor of Andross…

I loved Star Fox Adventures. I loved every minute of it. It's not perfect, but to me, the music, the ambiance, the story, the characters, it's just beautiful.
this was one of my favorite gamecube games , I think it gets some flack for being starfox but honestly it's a 7/10 or 8/10 good adventure game imo , we'll for the time
Hell yeah had a blast playing it.Was my first game on the GameCube 2.
Am I the only one who thought that Dinosaur Planet is just a dumb name?
Nope
Thanks
Made even worse for the fact it was kept as the name of the planet when it became SFA.
Maybe that's why they changed the name to Sauria in SF Assault.
A million times more sense. Catchier, too.
This was one of my favorite games growing it up. I beat it so many times to the point I could beat it in a single sitting. But watching this now I can and understand it hasn't aged too well. If you didn't grow up with it I can see it being hard to enjoy. I still think it's a good game and it's one of my favorites. Just not necessarily a great one in general.
Really sad to see the Star Fox marathon is going to be interrupted but also really happy that you're going to tackle some new Metroid games soon! One is a heart-felt tribute from a group of dedicated fans and the other is just there. Really looking forward to seeing what you think of both.
Ah my first starfox game. I don´t care what everyone else says, i´ll always love this game. Yeah it´s got problems but i still find it enjoyable. It´s not better than zelda, but ... wowowow wait 50 bucks are you shitting me? I mean i like the game but thats way to much.
That's convention price. They overcharge to hell and back. on Amazon it's about $15 used. New... it's pretty high up there at over $100
Geez! Good thing I got this game for $29 back in the day
Yeah I have that feeling towards Sonic Heroes. I know that it can be really boring at times but I still love it because it was my first sonic game.
You will be bias towards your first game of a franchise you play.
There are sad sad people out there who played the CDi games before playing an actual Zelda game, and thus, think they are decent. HAVE PITY ON THEM.
abloogywoogywoo I know. I feel really sad for those guys.
Yeah, I was bewildered by the final battle, too. I was teetering on the edge of whether this game was worth playing or not the entire playthrough, and the ending sequence is where I decided that I will never touch the game again.
But at least it looked pretty.
I realize it's not a good StarFox game (maybe not a good game), but I have SOOOO much nostalgia for it ...
This was the first Star Fox game I ever played as a kid, and I loved it. Really, I did. I remember beating it multiple times and just enjoying each world and journey in the game. Lots of fond memories here, and I would gladly play it again as an adult. I had Star Fox Assault after this one. I didn't know Star Fox Adventures was such a dramatic shift for the series, so playing a shooter game threw me for a loop and I didn't really like it.
Still have never played Star Fox 64 either (and I know that's everyone's favorite too). But I'm happy with Star Fox Adventures being my favorite Star Fox entry.
ily these so much!!
I mean, if Nintendo wanted to hold on to Rareware they could've... you know... buy Rareware.
I think it was more of "We don't want Microsoft to have something that could compete with Zelda, let's make it so that they can't use it."
If that was the case, great, cause Rare would've just fucked it over anyway like they did with all their other games. Explains why their staff left to form Playtonic now.
Yeah that would've been smart
The Stamper Brothers were asking too much for it. For the remaining shares they were asking x3 times the market value of them. Nintendo in disgust refused. Microsoft approached them, prompting Ninty to sell off their stake in the company. All the old talented employees who made up the company were leaving anyway...
Finally, someone I like giving a full review of Star Fox Adventures.
Now I have to ask... Why was there so much demand for Krystal if she was barely used at all?
Because there are 3 kinds of people who wanted Krystal in Smash:
1- The ones that wants to see a Star Fox character with different fighting mecánics.
2-The people who actually liked Star Fox adventures and want to see a representación of the game in the Smash Bros roster.
3- The sick people.
The music is what brings me back to this game. David Wise is one of my favorite composers.
I get back from a long day of class and see this. I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS JOHNNY. THANK YOU BASED GOD.
Love this game. That's my childhood, I actually don't like the other Flying only Star Fox games
I still don't get why so many people hate on this game :/
Konpaku Riii Easy. The series established itself as a space themed shooter on futuristic vehicles. To go to such a big genre shift after it has been so long since the last game, it tends to alienate the fanbase
Because it's a mediocre Zelda clones with no challenge, braindead puzzles and it has fuck all to do with the previous games in terms of gameplay. Plenty of reasons to dislike it.
u didn't talk about the fantastic soundtrack
Another great and fair review Johnny. Would love to see you review some of the actually good rare games sometime.
i was so waiting for you to do this game
Despite all it's flaws, I still really enjoy this game. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I loved the puzzles and environments in the game, and I honestly found most of the characters (even Tricky) to be pretty fun, even charming.
It is nostalgia why you like it.
This review is better than jontron's review. I guess it's because Jon's review just sounded like he hated it cuz it was different
I felt he was more bored that outright hate
This is an actual review. That video is more-or-less his general emotional output instead of coherent breakdown.
Or as Michael Mazzacane AKA TheRetroreplay has said on several occasions It's different so it sucks.
Kadius 234 Thing is, Jontron's "review" wasn't really a review but more of a comedy sketch.
You forgot to mention the soundtrack which I think is really, really good. I enjoyed Star Fox a lot. Even though it's true that going back and forth around the planet is annoying sometimes, the atmosphere of the landscapes are magical and various: eeriee, fairytale-like, ancient. There's a good range of mystery in the game and you keep feeling you're surrounded by it all along.
I think if they implemented more starfox elements such as the blaster, and arwing sections for the boss battles, it'd be awesome.
KRAZOA PALACE!!
I love Shiggsy, but not too many of his ideas this millennia have been the smartest. I mean shit, he's effectively derailed the Star Fox, F-Zero, and Paper Mario franchises.
Don't forget Zelda as well, since he made Skyward Sword & was more in charge of that game's development than Aonuma was. Granted Breath of the Wild does look pretty promising since Aonuma is the one who's in charge of the game but still. In all honesty, I'm actually quite worried on what Miyamoto is going to do with the new 3D Mario game that's coming for the NX soon, considering he's the one who's making the game & dubbed it as "A new quirky way to play Mario," which immediately sends off a red flag to alot of people, including myself.
+Jonnathan Sosa To be fair, Skyward Sword is less of a derailing and more a of a loss of focus, especially considering BotW looks great. And yeah, I think Miyamoto is focused way too hard on "unique ways to play". Last Mario game i really enjoyed was Galaxy 1, which is 9 years old at this point. Mario used to be the main attraction, but now i feel like its just that wacky platformer you play with friends and nothing more. I really hope the NX is what breaks out of Nintendo's gimmickey phase. Theyve produced some quality titles during that time, but we've seen too many series decline in quality.
+Jonnathan Sosa
He didn't "make" Skyward Sword. The director of the Minish Cap was in charge of that game's development in cooperation with Aonuma. Miyamoto is pretty much just a consultant these days.
Galaxy 2 was great. Nothing wrong with more Mario 64. But yeah, 3D Land and World were fun, but unmemorable.
almost ruined Splatoon before it was able to become a thing too.
At least in Twilight Princess, Ganondorf was referenced and teased a bit before they revealed him to be the true villain.
Alot of great memories of this game, getting it on my birthday, playing this along side super smash bros melee, super mario sunshine and Metroid prime. Just pure nostalgia. I really love this game, the gameplay was fun, the world and atmosphere was incredible and the music was spot on, especially the ocean force temple and krazoa palace, just other worldly
This game is under-rated.... yet had it come out as what it was originally planned, I bet people would've enjoyed the game more.
BTW, it was both the Microsoft buy-out and Miyomoto noticing the similarities between Sabre & Fox that caused the change. BTW, a lot more on Dinosaur Planet is out there. The Music, the Story & even tons of concept art has been found. Dinosaur Planet was never forgotten by Rare either. They've kept original statues from the E3 event Dinosaur Planet was unveiled at.
It's really such a shame. DP looked fantastic. SFA is a mediocre game.
I'm happy to say I still own my copy of this, SA2B and Sonic Heroes. Shame the same cannot be said for Animal Crossing.
Oh... Got the game before it was taken down eh Johnny? (Referring to AM2R)

Its very heartbreaking that with so many amazing titles put together by both Nintendo and Rare together, this is what their partnership ends on.

For real though, these graphics were fuckin' insane, especially at 60fps.
It'd be cool to see you cover Jet Force Gemini at some point. Don't know how you are about video ideas/requests. No matter what, keep this up man. Really enjoyable to watch.
And to add insult to injury? .... The final boss - which you did show - is basically a rehash of the Andross fight (in Easy mode) in Star Fox 64.
Poor StarFox fans.
Welp, superior series takes priority.
Waiting for the death threats.
...Still waiting?
...still waiting...
DEATH THREAT, GRRRR!!
Not really, I just wanted to type that.
love the video dude... fun fact for you and everyone here this is my first Star Fox game ever :)
This is such a nostalgic game for me because my older brother and I used to play it when we were kids. We got up to the Ocean Force Point level and got to frustrated though lol. Also and you can laugh if you want, but I had a crush on Krystal when I was a kid XD
I find Star Fox Adventures very enjoyable. Black sheep of the franchise? Yes, but still a good game. Heck i'll take this over Star Fox Command. Its the Super Mario RPG for 3D Zelda. Simple, basic and right for beginners! As Super Mario RPG was for the Final Fantasy series.
It not a bad game, just has little to offer compared to other 3D adventure games
Not necessarily, I mean, Super Mario RPG is a pretty good RPG while Star Fox Adventures is a pretty lackluster adventure game. So Super Mario RPG might not exactly be a good Mario game but it's still a great game, while SFA is just a sub-par game in general. This is, obviously, my opinion.

How surprising.
A Star Fox Adventures review? But I already collected the sacred teeth!
I'm really hyped to finally see you tackle Federation Force. This should be... um, entertaining.
I still have this game! Such a good game to play! I mean there were things about it that I would have liked to have seen more of or would have liked to see put in the game, but for what I got to play it was good. Enjoyable and fun, and killing Andross at the end was such a good victory.
WOO!! Metroid reviews, Coming Soon!
Then.. Star Fox Assault... I don't even know what that game is about, but I'm sure Johnny will explain when he gets to it. I'm willing to wait for the hilarity.
Is about Star Fox assaulting.
It's basically Nintendo's apology game, I know that may trigger some people but Nintendo was quick to back to the correct previous style of gameplay while adding the ground missions as a form of new flavor.
I have never played Star Fox Adventures, but I don't see how Assault could have possibly been worse than that.
Assault is MILES better than Adventures, at least I had fun playing Assault, not to mention it actually had the charm of Star Fox, unlike Adventures.
+MasterMetallix94
Assault wasn't a proper return to form. It was, originally, a multiplayer only game, based on Star Fox 64's multiplayer (even had the same controls at one point in development) but with a lot more focus on the on-foot gameplay style which had to be unlocked in 64.
The single player was thrown together at the tail end of development. You have 3 rail shooting levels similar to Star Fox and Star Fox 64 where all the effort in single player went, and 7 levels which are repurposed multiplayer maps with basic enemies and tedious "destroy all the ____" goals added to them, and all around clumsy, unenjoyable design.
If you came for the rail shooting, the vast majority of your playtime will not be rail shooting.
If you came for the Arwing flying, a large majority of your playtime will not be Arwing flying.
If you came to pilot any vehicle at all, a majority of your playtime won't even offer that much.
Ground missions added as a bit of new flavor? If anything, the core gameplay of Assault's predecessors are the flavor. Most of the game is running around on foot.
But never mind playtime, lets look at number of levels.
Star Fox has 20, across 3 separate paths, with 1 hidden level.
Star Fox 64 has 16, across branching paths, with the path taken sometimes affecting how a level plays.
Assault has 10. No paths. No nothing.
There is less content on offer than the games which precede it.
Play for the mutiplayer. That's the meat of the experience.
This is my favourite Rare game. Screw the haters.
I love that metroid alarm that was the highlight for me
You just gotta love Jontron's freakout with StairFax Temperatures.
This is why I enjoy Johnny's reviews. He's very objective when reviewing these games. Seriously, if I was a professor I'd give his paper a solid A.
Unlike most people I freaking love Starfox Adventures! I mean it's just like the Legend of Zelda series so I definitely don't mind a "blending" of 2 main franchises that I both love and enjoy.
"They're context sensitive." Makes me think of Conker's Bad Fur Day!
"Context sensitive? Oh, Clever...." "They're sensitive to context. Uh...press B"
That metroid alarm excited me way too much. Though that second one excited me a LOT more. Thought I miss some news about a new metroid game or something.
"You thought Twilight Princess was bad?" NO I DIDNT
I think he meant by having the game's antagonist replaced by the main villain of the series at the last minute, not that the game itself is bad.
Although, to TP's credit, Ganondorf didn't come completely out of nowhere, as we saw him in a flashback or two before he hijacked the plot.
Look up "Hijacked By Ganon". TP's story is...ugh... mediocre at best.
The villain's plot was mixing light and shadow to make darkness? WTF were they smoking...
AdmiralOctopus Lol I figured as much, my comment was mostly just a joke, to be one of those people lol/
Blaze Modz Ah, I see.
Still, better safe than sorry.
Ganondorf "hijacking" the plot didn't come out of nowhere as it sounds like it did with Andross here.
Halfway through Twilight Princess we get a flashback of Ganon and the sages immediately speculate that's who's behind Zant's power.
finally, someone who dislikes adventures
Finally? I've always seen people call Adventures the black sheep of the series (although some would give that spot to Command).
megamarsonic never, ever seen that at alll. everyone says "omg its my childhood stop hating on it" but ive never seen anyone actually hate it/dislike it. its kinda like wind waker or unleashed in that regard.
@@johnsother2440 Dude I've only seen people defend this game and I get so tired of it.

Fantastic review Johnny!!! I loved the Metroid alarm bit. I'm guessing Ryan's F-Zero alarm has cobwebs around it at this point. :(
Why does an adventure game NEED to have a better story adventure games have ALWAYS been about the gameplay
...No, they haven't. They seriously haven't. What adventure games newer than PS1/N64 era have you played that are just "about the gameplay?"
Kingdom Hearts says otherwise.
> Kingdom Hearts
Dude, Kingdom Hearts is a full-tilt Action RPG. While some games (such as Zelda) overlap between that genre and more basic adventure games, there's a point where a game is too much of one to be the other at the same time.
+The One True Nobody! ...I was actually agreeing with you...
Okay then, so maybe that might not have been the best example. What about Jak and Daxter? Specifically Jak 2 and 3?
Agreeing or not, Kingdom Hearts is a shite example, because it's the wrong genre. (Also, the story is pretty terrible, but never mind that.)
Jak & Daxter is also the wrong genre, being your basic platformers, but at the exact moment it shifted toward a more adventure-like focus, it also shifted to have more story focus (in Jak II and Jak 3).
I hate Jontron's review of this game. COME AT ME!
nobody cares dude
Obviously you do if you commented.
Ok.
*comes at you*
"I hate Jontrons review of this game" Jontron didn't honestly review this game and at this point it is just a grudge you have! "Come at me"
Dude I do not knownp how you do it but your jokes always make me laugh
Can't Wait For The Metroid Reviews!
Am I the only one who thinks that this is the best Star Fox game?
No, I agree
I liked it more than the other starfox games, but I'm pretty sure people are just hating on it because it was so different from the other starfox games
UlquiorraVSGrimmjow It's my favorite mainly because it was like a Zelda game. It was so much fun!
Anyone who thinks this is their favorite Star Fox game is probably better off just playing the Zelda games.
No, because positive contrarians are a thing.
does anyone else feel like John is rarely telling 85% of the story of the Star Fox games.
***** I mean he could have added the part of where Fox save Krystal and then Krystal and Fox start to have feelings for each other.
Well...when there's not much of a story to begin with, can you even blame him?
He mentioned it was pretty much love at first sight
He already did tell those parts in the story summary.
Yeah your right. I mean in Starfox 64 he didn't even mention the small back story about James McCloud which is something of an important lore in Starfox
Oh, goodie! He really is acquainted with RareWare and Dinosaur Planet! I was hoping those details would shine through!
I've been waiting for this! The first game I ever owned time to see what happens...
Thank you Johnny, I can't understand how people can defend this piece of shit game to this day, this game is just a very dumbed down Legend of Zelda and that's it, add cut content on top of it and you got yourself a real piece of crap
It usually comes down to some form of nostalgia
hell, I played the game when I was 10, and I thought it was shit then. It was probably my first "bad" game experience in fact.
Look up the definition of the word opinion and come back when you understand what an opinion is so you won't have to ask questions like that
+Just Jacob Well some people say that 2 week old dry shit tastes better than vanilla cake, and that's totally their legitimate entitled opinion I guess
I think it just depends on who you ask. I personally did find some enjoyment with this game BUT and this is a big but, in fairness, II didn't grow up with Star Fox unfortunately and technically, Assault was my first Star Fox game but I remember a friend who had Adventures who didn't like it and let me have it.
The main reason why I enjoyed it is because I generally like adventure games and at the time, I also haven't played a Zelda game save for Twilight Princess. After finally playing and beating Ocarina of Time though, I can definitely see why this game is referred to as a Zelda clone but I still enjoyed it. The rich, lush stage designs, the ambient music, the design of the characters. Yeah, I can agree that the game is bland. Very bland. But a part of me still did enjoy it. I just hated how Andross came out of freaking nowhere.
the worst zelda game ever made
it's a joke by the way
...... cdi games?
+KurashiDragon i don't mind them
+Vuk Deronjic take that back or else
Okami?
This was one of my first GameCube games and my first starfox game. I loved it, of course I haven't played it since I was in elementary school so I wonder my opinion of it would be now. The nostalgia is strong with this one
You are going to love Assault! That is my first Star Fox game I've ever played and it's still my favorite to this day. Very underrated game.
Boring uninvolved plot, needless collectathon, repetitive combat, bare world design, and total deviation from what's already been established for the franchise. So pretty much this the Rise of Lyric of Starfox.
Good lord. This game is perfectly functional and has some memorable moments due to the weird NPCs, like the Warpstone and the Lightfoot tribe. It's got a lot of flaws but, good lord man.
I can't wait to hear johnny opinion on the final boss on federation force.
Hey man big fan of yours and love your videos. def be cool if you did a Golden Sun chapter 1 and 2 review...including the mediocre Dark Dawn.also Rayman would be cool.
running through the backlogue and you find this one.
'ah yes, stairfax temperatures'
