With the videos I give you an insight into my work.
Subi-Performance Engine manufacturer specializing in the construction of Subaru high-performance boxer engines.
Most of the tools I use are from Würth and the measuring equipment is from Mitutoyo.
Main Camera: Panasonic Lumix G DMC-GX8H
Action Camera: GoPro 4 Hero Session - Auta a dopravní prostředky
dirty tools aren't avoidable but that workshop looks cleaner than most restaurant kitchen :)
Arie Tan not hard to do when you working with all new parts and not animal blood and ranch dressing
tru
@Jeffemano Your 'real' mechanics wouldn't even know how to use 1/2 the precision tools that this guy uses let alone be able to do the work this guy does.
:) lol
@Jeffemano Showing signs of use and letting your tools sit in grime and muck are two very different things. If you knew anything about good mechanics, you'd know that the good ones are OCD about their tools. Why? because you take care of what makes you money.
No music, no talking
I didn't know what I wanted until I got it.
This is what I want
Usually some heavy metal guitars grind away driving me to shut off sound, this was nice and I learned
I started watching FZ-Making Knives forge a katana with no music that was amazing
Thank-you for not adding a lousy soundtrack
Do not desturb 🤣
Most underrated comment!
Ham Skinner I actually enjoy the background music
@@bbkg1979 Truth, watching this is comfy as fuck. Nothing is more comfy than building something new in a quiet place.

Building an 800 Hp engine from scratch is all the Therapy we need !
These videos are so relaxing! Great work sir!
Watching subaru vids while working on my subaru...its a good day
Subaception. :)
Watching this and then my subaru gave up on me... She pretty damm jealous obviously... Lol
very motivation indeed 😙
@bad Good lol
Subaru is junk
I forgot how elegant the Sub engines are! I was a dealership mechanic, decades ago, and Subies were the best cars to work on!
Amazing workmanship!
This definitely worth my time! Awesome work being displayed here.
Thank you for taking the time to upload such an interesting and educational vid, Bud. :)
This is engine building at top level and i love the dachshund
In german dachshund= Dackel
What a chilled-out workplace that's cleaner than a surgery ward.
Thanks for uploading!
These guys really know what they are doing. Torque to bolt stretch -- that is aerospace level of technology. Great care on everything. Good video.
Really nice build, and fantastic clean workshop....
Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share it
Amazing to watch. Wish I had this knowledge. I'm always amazed that Subi engines don't leak when it's only that small bead of silicone sealing the block halves.
Haven't watched your videos for almost four years. Such a pleasure to come back.
I feel like I could eat a meal off of any surface in your shop, it’s so clean! I love your videos, I wish I could work on stuff like this. Keep up the great work!
The underappreciated art and science of metrology.
tru
Not to mention the Engineering, Material Science and Metallurgists.
It's so beautiful. Whether you're a mechanic with only mechanic training, a hobbyist/enthusiast, or general untrained person with appreciation for engines and vehicles... Somehow you know and feel all the science that goes into something as complicated as a combustion engine and the whole vehicle, from frame to the carpet your feet rest on.
It's truly beautiful.
BananaNutBread I know exactly what you mean and this is the first and last time in my life I will say "lolzz omg can relate"
the precision of this man work!!!
Geronimo Medina He’s an amazing builder. So precise, balanced, clean, and perfect.
I get high from his work ,the cleanliness is perfect ,and the tools-there are no words .Good luck to you and all the best
Note the clean shop? No distractions. This man makes good example: It is the engine builders' responsibility to check clearances and proper machining, taper, out of round surface prep, fillet radii.., ring end gaps.. finally...not the machine shop or the parts manufacturers. In other words, you don't just assemble the parts hoping it all works. 90% of the time it may work but if it fails you can't hassle the crankshaft company or machine shop. If they send you out of round crank catch it BEFORE you assemble. No substitute for a good tech school but experience comes from life. Everyone wants to build engines too!
This is the work I was trained for, that I should have been doing and love. Godspeed.
Shhh, artist at work.
Yes watching you is mesmerizing, but your dog at the end is FANTASTIC 😂😂😂
excellent detailed video of a seasonned performance/race mechanic properly assembling a beast
Subi performance videos never get old.
Part 2 soon?! PART TWO NOW! Great vid way cool tools cant wait to keep watching
Beautiful video, a true craftsman at work.
So refreshing to see such craftsmanship. This is therapeutic for me. 🔥😍👍🏻👍🏻
This guy has talent...can’t stop watching his videos...
Talent is nice but not much good without access to tools. Don't know this guy. He's meticulous I'll say that but geez I wish I had that shop and tools.
@@todaywefly4370 JUST DOO IT !!
Talent/knowledge base is severly lacking in one major aspect... the use of extensions while torqueing fasteners is not good... extensions throw off the torque readings (the longer the extension the further it's thrown off) and as such should be avoided whenever possible while torqueing fasteners.
One thing i dont agree .... tightening the studs direct from begining with something else than a hand tool
The thred can go wrong vrey easy
Happen to me .... Same way
First 2 turns by hand than whatever ....
The way he attempts (and I use attempts loosely) to align bore the crankcase is absolutely nuts.
After watfching your incredible videos... i wan't to send you my subaru just for simple head gasket change , cuz i will know it will be perfect.
Great job!
The attention to detail is just sooooooo satisfying! Great job! :D
😮🤤🤤🤤🤤ARP CASE BOLTS, O RINGS, FIRE RINGS & DRY SUMP👌🏻👍🏻
Nice build.
Wie immer Geiles Video..
Same as all the other comments, i watched from start to end, gorgeous work and video!
Glue???
you, my friend are gifted. love the dachsie, he's in charge, no doubt. will be tuning in again...
theres not very many guys like these around awesome workmanship
This is the engine that all BRZ/86 vehicles should have from factory! =)
Amen!
This is amazingly satisfying to watch. Such precision and so clean. 😎👍
Your videos are quiet detailed and enjoyable . Thank you, keep it up!
Daryl - both “quiet” and “quite” detailed indeed!
thats amazing the way he installs gudgeon pin, makes sense for flat 4
Not being familiar with Subaru engine assembly, I was wondering if he was going split the cases again, but then I'm thinking that he's already torqued them down! Clever solution!
jfan4reva that’s the way it’s needs to be done... really no way around it ... unless what... squish the block around everything ?
That, my friend, is a reamer to end all reamers!!!! 7:40
wtf is that for...like why is that necessary? As you can guess I'm not a DIY engine guy :)
@@rogerg0834 it's to make the main bearing bores round and the right size. If the bores are too large or warped, they can take a cut off the mating surfaces of both case halves, bolt them back together and then cut them back to size.
@@Midnight_Rider96 I see. Thank you for the fyi.
@@rogerg0834 yep. Also forgot to mention, when you use stronger bolts (like ARP) that take a higher torque, the increased clamping pressure will squeeze and distort the bores slightly and they usually have to be opened back up to the correct size.
Where can I get that reeming tool at?
i must say that the workshop is hella clean compared to others and dude you're doing an amazing job
I have no idea what I am seeing... AMAZING!
Few questions:
• When you reamed the mains, did you leave the surface as it was after reaming? Did you deburr the edges?
• Aren't you afraid of introducing hairline cracks at the front of the crank, when you torque the conrod bolts, while the crank is only supported at one end?
• Aren't you afraid of a plain cloth's fibers getting in some oil passage, and blocking it?
• Did you deburr the piston rings, after grinding them to the appropriate size?
10:50 bending the crank nicely
The force wont be enough to bend it permanently.
thank you for sharing your process!!! so valuable for those of us trying to make the most of our dollars.
Great video. Showing all the important details ,lowed watching everi second of it. Keep it up !
wie immer wunderschön anzuschauen.... :)
Arrow billet crankshaft wow!!
Nice workshop! Everything is so neat and organized!
Arrow Precision! Some nice parts from the UK going into this build!
Cutting that tube of liquid gasket, I was almost expecting him to measure the opening with a micrometer.
Jens Knudsen - I was just happy the cut-off tip didn’t fly into a cylinder hole unnoticed...
@@NorbCat bore**
Beautifully done.
Love the dog.
Engine build asmr is one of my favorite things.
Great job, nice to look at the work of the master!
I was wondering why he bolted it up without anything installed. I never realised that a boxer engine is pretty much two halves bolted together. Very nice to see.
Without pistons... Yes i think same
He torqued the case halves together for measurements and boring out where the crank sits on the journals. He then reassembled the case finished, precisely. The dude is a master Subaru technician. So satisfying to see it done the right way.
Yes yes yes! Another one! Love these videos!
Ive watched several of his videos and never heard anyone speak yet I knew he had to be German. Then I looked at the website and that confirmed it. Almost every German shop is this way. CLEAN AND ORGANIZED!
Just contemplating an H-6 3.6 1200 HP Outback!
Das nenne ich motorenbauporn xD
just a lovely and relaxing video!! please keep posting videos!!

Master at work . Amazing !
We admire....... nataka
adi calculation yawa... ai 🙄
Never seen main bearing bores reamed like that before although I've yet to have a Subaru (plenty of VW, Alfa-Romeo, even Citroene flat fours) One thing, dropping bolts into holes in alloy crankcases can cause thread to 'roll' and give a false torque reading on final assembly. (I used to do a lot of Japanese motorcycle engines)
His technique is very, very good. That is said I agree with you about the dropped bolts. It is easy to peen and roll under the leading edge of the first thread on the block. The only other item I might change is the application of case sealant. Spreading the bead with small plastic or wooden spatula will help prevent the sealant from extruding out of the join to the side.
so you're the one guy who worked on an Alfasud ?
Trere is just one issue, reamer should be ALWAYS in vertical position - especially that big and heavy like here!
@@krisbham yup we truly well trained engine builders can pick out his flaws in technique can't we
I thought the exact same thing, but you put it in words I wouldn't have because your prob a real tech, I'm a back yard tech "Super Bench Racer Guy". John from Noblesville.
Awesome video!
This is real deal..
Very2 professional...
Im just village mechanic.. to see u assembly this engine, looks like official formula 1 racing team assembly their Engine..
U are born for this..
And u are lucky guy in the world.. seriously..
Poor people like me,just can watch...
I just finished part 4 and awesome as always! But I want's to know what block is it. Looks like sleeved closedeck EJ20, isn't it? :)
Showed ej20 on the block
Jakub Chuděj 25:02 it’s definitely 2L and you forgot the top O-ring gaskets
So good 🤤, I love watching you build engines 😍
Master at work.
@@Alex-net-brn прецизионные болты 🤣
Reminds me, in 1972 I rebuilt my old BMW 1600-2 on the kitchen table, It ran great for several years !
You are the real Mechanic.
@7:17... "i will now sing the song of my people"
That sounds like a silly thing a machinist would say, are you?

can you provide a list of parts used in the build?
