- This was the first broadcast TV reconstruction of the Lin and Meghan Russell murders, in Chillenden, Kent.
It was broadcast on the LWT series 'Crime Monthly' in 1996, presented by Penny Smith.
Michael Stone was eventually charged with the murders, although there is speculation that the murderers could be attributed to Levi Bellfield.
Fond memories of staying up late on Friday nights as a teenager to watch Crime Monthly. I always found it a little scary but also fascinating, it was a great education to see and learn about crime and real life situations. Plus Penny Smith had me interested too 😍
Always struck me how desperately unfortunate the odds of this killing were
Kent Police were prepared for these murders in 1996 as the origins were in Maidstone in 1980 when decisions were made to cover up the crimes of a well-connected mason

I always preferred the grit of this show over the scale and sweeping gloss of Crimewatch U.K.
Crime Monthly was genuinely scary & realistic. Very London... While Crimewatch UK was rather twee & moralistic... Very Midsomer, Middle England...
Such a horrific crime. That poor family and little dog. Heartbreaking.
The Russell family have suffered far too much as has Julia James's family who was murdered 2.5 miles away from the Chillenden Murder scene waking her Jack Russell dog

@@lauraelizabeth7934 I agree as a women identifying herself as a relative contacted me via Facebook on 2.5.2021 for information re the Chillenden Murders, we have our doubts that the right man was arrested for the murders of Julia James. In my case more than doubts as I rang Kent Police 3 days before her murder re on-going blackmail, and again the day before her murder to express my fears that a Kent Police employee would be murdered and it would be the fault of Maidstone Police Station. Let's see how things go as Kent Police try to frame all sorts of people, aided by the Press
The Chillenden Murders OIC Dave Stevens & the 1987 Trophy Murders OIC Dave Stevens were linked at the time of the Chillenden Murders. David Fuller has been intimidated into accepting guilt for the 1987 murders but this is under review

@1:58 the name of the school?? How ironic on who the murders were pinned on Michael Stone who I always thought was the wrong man and many others who also thought that.
Did you know that Kent Police tried to frame Richard Card in Thanet before they framed Michael Stone? Did you know that at the time of the 1996 murders they were linked to the 1987 Trophy Murders of Tunbridge Wells (now known as the Bedsit Murders)?

I'm watching this today, when it's been reported that Levi Bellfield has confessed to this murder in Prison to another inmate. However - the e-fit at the end does look more like Michael Stone.
At the time of the 1996 Chillenden Murders they were linked to the 1987 Trophy Murders of Tunbridge Wells; last November Maidstone Crown Court convicted David Fuller of these 2 murders which he did not commit aided by lumping them with completely different crimes. Kent Police cannot be trusted with photo-fits

It was made at the time that Van Carlton Marr from Virginia was flown into the UK to distract me over the Chillenden Murders & its cover-up. I lost a baby via the global freemason cover-up - involving the US, South Africa, Australia & Kent
the more i watch and read up on this crime the more suspicion points to Levi Belfield. that Penny Smith was well fit in 90s ans 00s, over the hill now tho.

@@waynebamford8333 I was married to the real killer (an internationally well-connected mason) but it is who he married after me that means that this is still a miscarriage of justice (as well as who was my barrister who failed to send him to Broadmoor (Lennie Hoffmann QC, now Baron Hoffmann). Via an international Chillenden murder cover-up I lost a baby. The killer's 2nd wife is a Maidstone reporter, Jewish and a mason whose death was faked in 2016, but she was alive & well when I rang Barty House Bearsted Maidstone on 17 June 2021. Google "Anna Preece" "Anna Preece Fraud & Deception". Michael Howard was Home Secretary & a Kent MP at the time of the Chillenden Murders. You will find a ring of Jewish people connected to this crime eg the Psychiatrist who framed Michael Stone, 2 out of the 3 Court of Appeal Judges who rejected Stone's 2nd appeal. I have been a victim of Jewish-linked hate crime since 1980 (all protected by Kent Police & the Met Police). No rogue Jewish person is ever arrested linked to any of my crimes. I have had problems accessing justice via 8 Jewish judges in the Royal Courts of Justice & then there are the female masons loyal to Anna Preece ....including my former best friend Briony Hyams godmother to my daughter ......
