I am a dragon owner and can assure that it can take on 90% of what AVR provides especially in a living room that is not dedicated to home theater. Show me an AVR with 11.4.6 that cost less than this price (w/o speaker) that includes dts x pro as well.
The quality of the sound and fidelity in this is outstanding and sync with all the other speakers to subwoofer is matched perfectly. The power I cannot go past 30 out of 100 in this.
This is a beast of a kind and you need to have 70 inch and above TV to justify this system.
Thanks for your input and experience!
@@hatoraidcowboy You are welcome and thank you for this review as there are not many review on this out there.
Couldn't agree with you more. Dragon is a beast that combines performance and simplicity in a wireless package.
1. its MARKETED at 11.4.6 however a soundbar will never have true channel separation much better than 4.x.x
2. a friend of mine that owns the dragon gets mad because my 9.2 AVR and klipsch costco atmos specials with dual 12" subs sound better than his soundbar at half the price..
@warmfreeze Now I will agree with you on this. Hence why I said it bridges the gap. Soundbars will never replace individual speaker placement and channel separation. But again this bridges the gap. Its better than a normal soundbar but not as good as a home theater.
Lol comments here comparing the sonos to this beast. The Nakamichi is on a different league.
I agree 100%!
Sonos subs destroy the dragon
@jamesrose298 What?? Lol You’ve heard both? I have and I gotta disagree thoroughly.
@@jamesrose298no they don’t. Tf you talking about?
@@jamesrose298 I own both systems (dual Sonos sub) and it’s not even comparable. Dragon dwarfs Sonos
I'm very happy with the whole system I'm in love with it now I need to get one to LoL.
Cowboy you did a wonderful job on showing Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 I'm very impress Yes indeed 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much!
Sony 7000 and 5000 soundbars do have levels and distance you can set, but I haven’t heard anywhere near the impressions as people seem to have with the Dragon. I’m an old dude so I know Nakamichi can put out some high quality audio gear back in the day at least
Thanks for doing a real review of this product from someone who really knows home theater and can do a proper comparison to a traditional setup
You’re welcome!
Sounds amazing to me, and I'm not bias considering I've had the Nakamichi shockwafe SSE ARC for 5 years. I've had Nakamichi shockwafe SSE Earc in my bedroom since May 2023, and Ive had the Nakamichi Dragon since September 6th 2023
What are your thoughts on the atmos effects?
My jaw has been on the floor with each Nakamichi I've had. I didn't think it could get better than the original Nakamichi shockwafe SSE ARC, then the Earc destroyed it with the upgrade.
I didn't think I would of ordered the Dragon if I heard the improvement of the Earc over the original Nakamichi shockwafe SSE.
But once again my jaw was on the floor with the Nakamichi Dragon.
Didn’t realize Nakamichi was still around..when I heard nakamichi dragon, I was thinking the cassette deck😂
Google Stephen Mascenik...senior engineer for Nakamichi for 21 years. That's my brother. He is working with perlisten now.
This is the only video I've seen where they let you hear what the system sounds like, and it actually sounded good. I've seen 1 or 2 other videos where they let you hear what it sounds like, and it sounded flat, so thank you for that 🙌 With that said, can't wait until I get mine next month 😁
Thank you and you’re welcome! Congrats on your purchase. 😎
You will go crazy. It's AWESOME!!!
Mine gets here in October cannot wait thanks for the review 😊
Congrats! Let us know what you think!
Awesome review ❤!! Nice job!!
Thank you!!
Great to see some reviews coming out. I received mine September 6 and I absolutely love it. It replaced my old system, a Bose 900 Soundbar with two 700 surround speakers and two 700 subwoofers, and completely blows that system away. The Dolby Atmos is incredible on the Dragon!
Congrats! I would have to echo your sentiments completely!
But even q990b and C can blow away the bose900 so bad. Bose is good with traditional home theaters but not with soundbar systems. Bose is so adamant about satisfying the expectations of a client.
Well for some reason i am thinking Samsung is cooking an 11.4.6 in their labs.
I am in the same bout got full 900 setup. But i am from eu
Great review! 👍. Cant wait for mine to arrive in november
Thank you!
What a detailed, awesome review! The most detailed on the Dragon I’ve seen yet. Thanks!
I’m supposed to be getting my Dragon in Oct and can’t wait to get it! To me the most amazing part of your review was that you were obviously blown away & impressed with what you heard, and hadn’t even messed with the settings or speaker/sub woofer placement. Please do a short follow up review once the settings & speaker placement have been tweaked & let us know your thoughts on the Dragon then. PS- I just subscribed.
Thank you! And thanks for subscribing! Glad you enjoyed the review. Let us know your thoughts once you receive your Dragon and get it hooked up!
Thank you for the review!!!
You’re welcome!
I really appreciate this review because I pull the trigger and I ordered and hopefully I’ll receive mine in November.
Thank you! And that’s awesome congratulations I think you are gonna be very happy with it. Is it going in a dedicated Home Theater room?
@@hatoraidcowboy believe it or not I’m replacing my 5.2.4 home theater system. I have a Denon AVR-4300H receiver, emotiva basx 3 for center and front surround speakers, emotiva basx7 for the rear surround speakers and 4 in ceiling speakers. All my speakers are klipsch.
@@nekerriveradid you regret replacing or are you happy with the dragon ?
From what I have read and heard Nakamichi killed it with this soundbar and your review pretty much backed this all up. The ONLY thing that's stopping me from getting it is the price. Don't get me wrong it's worth the price but with times the way they are these days it's tough to convince the wife to allow me to get it LOL! But great great review and if and when I get the chance to get one of these I will in a heartbeat.
Thank you!! Its definitely not cheap. Hopefully it wont take long for the price to drop once availability increases. Let us know if you get one and what you think!
@@hatoraidcowboy Unfortunately, the price just went up $400 from the original price I paid of $3,499.99 back in April. Today you have to shell out $3,899.99 to order one.
@ericspear3610 That’s pretty steep
4000 for atmos bounce effect not worth the price

BB is supposed to eventually carry them ON-LINE only, but I don't know when they are going to start that. Got that from several BB Magnolia managers.

Wow thank you!! Come back and let us know what your experience and thoughts are.
I am waiting on my Dragon as well. Can't wait!
@devarrioraines5018 Noice! When are you getting it?
@hatoraidcowboy They stated an October delivery. I do have a stand-alone theater room that was initially wired for a 7.2.4 system, but the price for this was quite compelling compared to a complete system. I had to give it a try and based on reviews it does not sound like I will be disappointed.
It's amazing I have one It's expensive but worth it.
Great review
Thank you!
I myself had a Sonos and currently own and love a Nakamichi Shockwave 9.2.4
100% Nakamichi over Sonos.
I can only imagine how good this new Nakamichi Dragon is.
I may be upgrading soon 🤔
Excellent review.
Thank you!
This is such an awesome review and I own one of the first Dragons as well. I would like to offer a correction to what you said about adjusting the distance for the surround speakers. At 33:21 in the video you state that the rear surrounds distance is calculated from the center channel (correct) and not from the seating position (incorrect). If you scroll down on the page of the OSD where you set the distances for the speakers, after the subwoofer settings is another page that asks you to set the distance from your seating position to the left surround speaker and another distance from seating position to the right surround speaker. I think you just didn't scroll down far enough for the last page to show up.
Thank you! And thank you for catching that. That’s my fault. Time was limited so I didnt get the chance to look at all the settings in depth 🙂
@@hatoraidcowboy No problem. You did a hell of a job in the time you had! 😁
Great review. I just set up my Dragon a few days ago, holy sh$t is all I can say, that demo button...holy cow lol, I've gone in and have changed the didtances to my seating position but have left the sound levels alone for now, I also have 1 bass speaker in each cabinet playing currentley, keeps the miss's happy:)
Noice! Congrats and glad you like it! Any cool new updates?
Shane Lee would be impressed by those reactions 😂
😂 LOLLLL
Great review of the DRAGON, it’s def a beast. Question: what wall mount is he using for the rear surround speakers?
Thanks!
amzn.to/3RRPigv
Thanks for covering this, absolutely loved your review and would love to hear updates after break in (if that is applicable to the dragon and after it’s dialed in even further).
I’m dead set on a projector for my new house but not sure if I should go Dragon (when it’s next applicable) or start my separates journey and for on an emotiva processor with arendals and maybe emotiva or monolith amplifier.
If your arendals setup with the emotiva are a 10 out of 10, what would you rate the dragon out of 10? Really appreciate all your work!
Thank you! In the “soundbar” niche I would say the Dragon is a 10/10. While the height effects arent always perfect, what it had accomplished with only two rear surround speakers, a couple of subs and a soundbar is astonishing. I would always pick my Arendal setup and processor 100 times over but if I had to go soundbar I wouldnt hesitate to go with the Nakamichi
NICE!!!!❤
Thank you!
This sounds like a nice replacement for my dedicated 5.1.2 home theater in the living room. As my wife is tired of looking at speakers everywhere, I am looking for a different solution.
I’m curious how it will sound in an open floor plan like a living room.
That’s the main reason I purchased the Nakamichi dragon and just cannot wait to put my hands on it. Hopefully mine will arrive in November
You’ve already preordered?
@@hatoraidcowboy naw. Just looking for now. Trying to find out how much in Canadian. And my surround locations aren’t ideal either. Not sure how this would work with the Nakamichi.
Sorry. Naka is not shipping or sending to any other country (for now) besides the US and China I believe. @@mustangfred2006

Soundbar for the room. In shared space, living room. Tv for the whole room to the right, and to the left, I have 32" samsung 4k tv. Vividstorm floor rising screen sits behind the tv, and rises up when I want big screen mode. Since it is cinegray light rejecting (like, not sure if the use cinegrayspecifically), can use it with main tv and 9verhead lights on.......with the settings I told you about on avs forum, dynamic mode on the ls12000 is great. @HPMIKE53 You’re welcome!
It's kinda hard to give an opinion when one's not listening in person! To my ears and bear in mind audio coming out of my smartphones speaker, I actually think it sounds tinny and bright. If it does in deed sound that way... personally there's no way I would be binge watching with this thing.
As we all know 2 channel stereo playback is where sound bars fall by the wayside. No imaging, no stereo separation but more importantly no enveloping sound stage.
Excellent video though and BTW what a beautiful well thought out cinema livingroom. Bravo to all concerned 👏
Thank you! It can sound a little bright on the treble but as I said in the video, a youtube video wont even come close to doing this thing justice. But it definitely doesnt sound tinny. Huge sound coming from the Nakamichi Dragon
Would you pay half a million for a mecedes when you could get a RR
I could hear Atmos coming from my little TV speakers. 😮😮😊
So cool!
Hes being sarcastic
My only issue is if i was to go with this setup, i will be running a front laser short throw projector which means the spot where i would use for the soundbar is where the projector sits. Anybody have a idea where to place the soundbar or the projector?
Awesome video. The Dragon is not only breathing fire but throwing out fireballs of thunderous sound. Great to see!
Do you think a Samsung HW-Q990C holds up for its price? In my country, I’m getting the Samsung Q990C for about $900. Do you think it’s a good deal or should I look for some other options? My budget was only around $500 but given the Samsungs are on sale, was tempted to buy those.
Once again, awesome content. And subscribed!
Thank you and thank you for subscribing!
I havent heard the 990C, but it seems like a good system. My advice is start small if you’re on a budget(like I did) see if you like the 990C. If you do use that while you save up for an upgrade 😎
@@hatoraidcowboy
That's a wonderful suggestion. Start small, build big. Not just in sound bars but in life as well I guess. Small but meaningful steps.
If possible, can you review soundbars that are a bit budget-friendly, say around $1000? The mass market is between the $500-1000 range as it hits the sweet spot when paired with a decent TV, say an OLED. That would be awesome to see.
Keep up the good work.
@user-fj1ms8rw1d Unfortunately I dont have control over that stuff LOL Companies would have to be willing to send me their products. Sometimes they do sometimes they dont. This just happened to be my coworker’s system. But I’ll keep it in mind!
Thanks for all the support!
@@hatoraidcowboy
Sure buddy. Hopefully, you'll get your hands on another soundbar soon.
Keep up the good work.

Nice review Sir! Any thoughts on Dragon vs Samsung Q990c? I just received a Q990c last week, my first sound bar ever, and it sounds great, the setup alone is worth the admission, it took less then 5 minutes. It does not sound as good as a full set of good speakers, size does matter, and where u really noticed the difference is in the mids and warmth of the system or lack their of. Small speakers just can't produce great mids, that being said, this is still an outstanding system and am not returning it for the price I paid. Thanks
Thank you. I have not had a chance to hear the Q990c so unfortunately I can’t compare the two. Congrats on your purchase!
Got my limited edition a couple weeks ago I still have not got it dialed in because the settings are quite extensive I didn’t like the default 200hz on the subs so I’ve put it at 120hz and 1 in the front left and 1 on the rear right for better imaging I can say if you have an Xbox series x and we’re going crazy with the atmos lag this thing fixed that issue for me I did use a tape measure for all the speakers but I’m still trying to get the bass right like the settings in the OSD for bass volume and the bass settings on the app so far the sound is ridiculous especially with the first part of ready player one during the first car race..WOW!!! I’d like to know after you dialed it in what your bass settings are on??
Its my coworker’s Nakamichi so I dont know what his bass setting is on.
FINALLY!
Thank you for your awesome review! I have the Samsung q990c and I loses connection with its speakers often/randomly. I was wondering if you've been able to watch a full movie and if you've been able to see any speakers issues losing connections. Kind regards!
Thank you! This isnt my system….a coworker let me come over and review it. So that was the only time I had with it.
Named after their cassette deck which was released back in the 80s or 90s
Great video bro, question did emotiva send you RMC-1 + ?
No just the RMC-1. The + wont be ready until 2024 I’ve been told
@hatoraidcowboy looking forward for your RMC-1 review 😀

Man that sucks! Hopefully it will be available for you in the future
The dragon is now sold through B&H which offers international shipping

Thanks for the elaborate review.
So…, do you compare this to the (Denon) Auro-3D system?
I’ve never experienced Auro 3D so I can’t compare.
Would it have been worth the cost if they had given the option to add two more of the surround speakers or would have just been overkill ?
Sounds amazing. Any way to EQ the subs though?
Like with REW? I dont think so.
Interesting! My projector doesn't have eArc port can i enjoy the immersive sound through Bluetooth??
You can not get immersive audio through bluetooth.
I've been hearing a lot of issues with subwoofers disconnecting and poor customer service. Not sure how true it is but I guess you'll always see negative feedback on everything. But really wish people would realize this is a soundbar and not a home theater system. You could build a 5.1.2 system that would blow this away for about half the price.
Would you say that the Atmos immersion is comparable to having separate speakers?
Not quite. It comes surprisingly close. But separate speakers is still the best way to go
Please, what are those wall mount for the dragon rear speakers. We need a link.
amzn.to/46eytRs
Is there a room size that is recommended for the Nakamichi or not recommended
I’m sure there has to be but I havent seen anything published yet
The only problem I have with soundbars is the left and right channels are not far enough apart or I would be all over this.
That’s fair. It does a pretty good job though. One of the reasons I say soundbars will never replace individual speakers
@@hatoraidcowboy I would like to see the return of home theater in a box, it would better the performance of the soundbar yet still simple emough for regular folks.
@markwinston3119 I think Onkyo and a few others still make some
@@hatoraidcowboy nothing as good as the Nakamichi though... I mean just imagine the Dragon with LCR, that would have brought it to a totally different level. Still waiting for a 3 meter long soundbar with left and right at least 2.5 meters apart. LOL!
@markwinston3119 3 meters? That’s 9 ft! 😂🤣
Remember this sounbar is going to sound great but people are going to exagerate its greatness cause they just spent 4 grand on a soundbar
It sounded great to me and I didnt buy it. Not a dime.
I had it in my livingroom. movies- perfection, Music - mAhhh
Did you happen to try Atmos music tracks?
@@hatoraidcowboy No. I tried all the good music that I like in various genres and in ALL Naka settings, compared side by side with smaller and cheaper KEF + micro sub and also Bose l1Pro and was amazed how mediocre the Nakamichi sounds. those who have dedicated theater room can have a full system so they don't need a bar, those have just have normal use living room would like mix use, the subs are dirty and made for large explosions, they reveal location and create zones in the room where its too much too little because it's open and not closed sub (pro for movies con for music) . I'm not complaining because they are great for movies, but not many reviews and no one really telling it as it is about music.
@liorweisspi We didnt even listen to music. I’ll have to ask Manny if listens to music what he thinks of the sound.
@@hatoraidcowboy don't compare to Sonos , put something good side by side and let me know. I used KEF ls50WII plus kef 62 sub (half of the size of one oak sub and weigh like 4 oak subs), I also compared to Bose L1Pro 8 tower.
@liorweisspi Well its not my system, the owner was upgrading from Sonos so that’s what I used for reference.
For the price i can say Nakamishi overdelivered, at $4,500 it’ll still be very much worth it…
It's Legit ..
LOL 😎
It sounds like a good system, but the obvious thing of it all as you need the room to properly appreciate anything with 11+ channels of sound.
Its a 5.2.4 at best
What was the Outerspace movie at the end of the clips?
Moonfall
Maybe Sonos would be a bit better with the new Era 300 rear modules? Or would probably still get torched by the Dragon.
I dont think anything is beating the Dragon
I would say the Sonos Era 300s technology Blows away the rears on that Nakamichi! but man that Nakamichi soundbar is a beast… ain’t nothing touching that!!
@@bobwalters9151 Wow I would really like to hopefully see some YT videos cover this comparison. Overall, I think the Sonos is good but I've heard that the ARC needs a revision or upgrade to compete.
@@Professor5180 yes the Arc needs to up its game when they come out with a revised version! Because I love my era 300’s they are amazing!!
What are your thoughts on the Nakamichi dragon? Do you think it bridges the gap between soundbar and a normal home theater setup with individual speakers?
How close would you say the Dragon is to a normal AVR and some very basic towers. Are the the Atoms channels very convincing?
I would say for 85-90% of the content that we watched the Atmos effects were extremely convincing. It also depends on how well the Atmos mix is. But I still feel like an AVR with individual speakers and proper in ceiling or ceiling mounted speakers will always beat the Dragon….But man does the Dragon do a really, REALLY good job of bridging that gap.
Ok thanks for answering
Great review I’m subscribing lol
I plan on getting for my family after I move into our new home...
Wow this review blew up!!!
Yea! About to hit 30K! Crazy!
Would you replace your Arendal setup with this?
No way. As good as the Dragon is, like I said nothing can replace individual channels. But the Dragon bridges that gap between soundbars and standard Home Theaters. I love what the Dragon is doing but I’d still choose my Arendals.
@hatoraidcowboy thanks for your response. I do have one more question about the Arendell speakers. Considering the additional cost, do you think the Perlisten R series is worth the upgrade over the Arendel?
@user-rs7ko1md3v I havent heard the R series yet. I’m supposed to get some in for review though.
@hatoraidcowboy Thanks. I am looking forward to your review of the R series.
Is it worth the 4k based off your fresh impression?
I’d like to see the price come down to around 3K…..But seeing as there’s nothing else like it on the market I guess its justifiable
I have the dragon but still have not dialed it in. Mine states 1of 500, not sure if all of the early release models are numbered the same or if they actually have 2, 3, 4 of 500.
Looks like they all say 1 of 500.
What are the stands he using for the soundbar ?

Jbl 1300x , Samsung q990c or this ine what are the best in bass and sound , i like to view movies and play games + some music
I havent experienced JBL or the Samsung
How can dragon system being used with projector instead of TV?
Pretty sure you can still use a projector. It uses hdmi
They say the Dragon can reach 125db that's much louder than individual speakers with a receiver can reach so is that where the Dragon earns its money? What do you think?
Not for me…Loudness is not indicative of a good product. Where the Dragon shines to me is tricking your brain into hearing sound and atmos effects where there are no speakers
Fair enough thank you!
I want one but can’t get one I am from the Netherlands and they don’t ship outside USA 😡
Let's say you had a bit more of a budget what would be a step up from something like this
Can you add extra Subs to the same
system? Also would a larger room help with the rear channel so it's not so close to the couch or the listener
I dont believe you can add more subs to this system. Not sure if that’s a feature that could be added via firmware update in the future.
With more money I would just go separates.
@@hatoraidcowboy thank you for your answer
@charlesquesnel2302 You’re welcome!
How does the Dragon do with music? The speakers seem to be a bit small.
I didnt get to listen to any music while I was there.
Great review by the way, another couple of questions. Are the speakers wired or wireless? Our tv is right above the bedroom so my wife is constantly telling me to turn it down at night. I wonder if the two sub woofers may make the system too loud. What do you think? Have you also reviewed another system that you might recommend if you think the Dragon may be too loud? Thank you! @@hatoraidcowboy
Thank you! Everything is “wireless”…..Wireless in that there are no speaker wires but each speaker including the subs do need to be plugged in for power so you’ll need an outlet near each speaker and sub.
Unfortunately I havent heard anything comparable in the way of soundbars.
@@hatoraidcowboy thanks I really appreciate your detailed review and honest opinions. Great job I will continue to watch your reviews.
Thanks man! I really appreciate your support. 🙌
how does it compare to Samsung Q990c?
I havent experienced that soundbar yet.
Do you think the dragon would still sound good in an open space live room ?
I think that depends on the size of the room. And the layout of the room.
Adding two Sonos Era 300 as rears would have performed even better but still wouldn’t be as good as the dragon though…
What’s the difference with the Era 300’s?
@@hatoraidcowboythe era 300 have upfiring speakers built in.
I have arc, 2 subs, and era 300 rears and it’s still not to my liking. Certain parts sound good but nothing fixes the lackluster sound from the arc itself, specifically dialogue.
Just bought the dragon today to replace sonos. If Sonos didn’t limit user settings or features I may have stuck with it, but not allowing you to pair additional front speakers and have the arc act as a dedicated center channel is why I’m leaving Sonos.
The sonos Dolby atmos sound better in my opinion
Interesting. You’ve heard both?
I wouldn’t classify this sound bar as 11.4.6, instead I would classify it as 11.2.6 because there is only 2 separate sub In closures. What’s the name of the movie after ready player one?
I actually agree with you but I wanted to keep Nakimichi’s verbiage so as not to confuse people 😀
I think you’re talking about TENET
@@hatoraidcowboy they only did it for bragging rights. I’m sure that if he were to add another Sonos sub, he can say his Sonos is a .4 too. Lol

There are 4 physical subs 2 in each box facing opposite directions and isolated form each other. You can enable 1,2,3, or the best way all 4. The previous 9.2.4 only had 2 physical subs, thus the 4 is actually more accurate IMO
@basictekkk Yea I forgot you can activate as many subs as you want. Really cool!
He should have got the Era 300's
He got the system HE wanted
Still doesn’t improve arc audio, which isn’t good. Sonos should allow us to use 4 era 300’s instead of arc…but as with Sonos, you have zero options and can’t adjust anything to your liking.
What about 2 channel music listening
I didnt get two listen to music while I was there
If I didn't know any better, I would probably recommend this. But since I "know" better and have a dedicated 5.2.4 system, I wouldn't recommend this, unless you're absolutely limited on space and refuse to deal with wires. The deal breaker for me is the bass. It seems to me that people with massive subs like a Hsu, SVS, Rythmik, etc, would not want to downgrade in the sub department.
Sure, I can agree that the surround aspect is amazing on the Dragon. But if deep bass is important, I wouldn't want to compromise by getting the Dragon. And at $4k, I wouldn't even consider it for a bedroom setup...at this time. Thanks for the review!
I would never trade my current Home Theater for the dragon. Or any surround sound setup. The Dragon is great for limited spaces or WAF. In its own niche which is Sounbars, this thing is fantastic and cant be beat
@@hatoraidcowboy Agreed. It's in a class if it's own in the soundbar world. I can see and hope that other companies start making their own versions so that prices will come down and I can snatch one for my bedroom... On sale... On Black Friday. 😁
I think its gonna be a while before anybody else can match or exceed what the Dragon can do.
@@hatoraidcowboy That's where you and I come in with... "The Dragonslayer"
Does it make that "jungle sound" every time you start the system? It's cool, but I can see how that can get annoying over time. Thanks...
It only does it the first time you turn it on but you can activate those demos whenever you want
I got the Sonos but it wasn’t doing it for me. Switched from full size speakers, Sonos sounds too much like everything came off of a small tiny box. Returned the Sonos and ordered the dragon. Hopefully the dragon will live up to all this hype and the price tag.
Let me know your thoughts! When are you supposed to get it?
@@hatoraidcowboy supposed to be January.
Update? Just bought one today cuz the Sonos arc, 2 sub, and era 300’s just isn’t good enough for me
@@keithskoglund10 decided to take the money and build a nice sonus Faber system instead of this system. At the end of the day, soundbar just can’t match full size speakers during my tests.
@@bossmani594 gotcha, if you have the budget then it’s definitely the better performing option. I ended up with the Dragon and dude, it makes the Sonos system sound like a child’s toy. This sounds really really good, and I had high end focal systems in my car previously.
Wonder how this compares to Sony HT system?
Same here!
They aren't in the same league 🤔 That's like comparing a Honda Accord to an BMW M5 competition 🤔 You already know the outcome!!!!
I had the Sony HT-A9 and upgraded to the Dragon. The Dragon is VASTLY better. It is not close. Louder, punchier bass, better height effects, and a more convincing sound bubble (I hesitate to call the Dragon a “bubble,” because it envelopes the entire room). But my favorite part may be that you can turn off the 360 processing and output pure stereo for listening to vinyl, or output 5.1 or 7.1 when listening to legacy surround mixes. The Sony always upmixed.
@@natiahs That's all I need to hear on the topic
@natiahs Great point, the Dragon has an exceptional bubble effect enveloping you in immersive sound. 100% agree
What do you mean a soundbar will never replace a speaker setup? If someone chooses a soundbar then it just replaced the speaker setup.
Some people say that the Dragon is the future of home theater and that it will replace individual speaker placement
@@hatoraidcowboy People today are more into having space, simplicity and saving a buck. Not that the dragon is inexpensive, but soundbars in general are cheaper than traditional setups. Only hardcore home theater enthusiasts are super concerned with a full blown home theater configuration. Today’s consumers are not the same as back in the day. Just like how people consume media is not like back in the day. Times change and so does technology and philosophy
@@hatoraidcowboy A bike, scooter or skateboard can not “replace” a car but you see more n more people than ever before commuting to work or wherever because it’s cheaper and more convenient to do so. How many people truly have the space and money for a full blown home theater in 2023?? A soundbar can give nice enough sound to enjoy movies so it definitely can “replace” speakers. Some people swear by records being the best but you seen what tapes and CDs did to vinyl. Oh wait, digital basically wiped out CDs lol. Things change my man
@paulrevere1479 I’m assuming you have a soundbar? I think you’re taking my general statement as offensive. I was stating a fact because some people are saying the Dragon is better than a typical Home Theater setup and its not.
@@hatoraidcowboy I have been into home theater for 35 years or so. Not offended and I have both traditional speakers and a soundbar. It’s not about what’s better, it’s about what is better for the consumer. Your home theater can’t compete with Dolby Cinema or IMAX but you still love your system right? Movies on digital are technically not better than disc but people prefer for the most part to choose digital over disc these days. You’re confusing “best” with convenience.
I’m a projector guy but I won’t tell someone their TV is less than a projector if that’s what they prefer. The Dragon for those who want the Dragon can and will replace speakers. Just saying
What system do you have at home?
Me?
@@hatoraidcowboy Yes, as a reference, like to know what you are comparing Nakamichi with?
@ccp4161 Oh I was comparing the Nakamichi to the home owner’s previous system. He had a Sonos Arc system.
I want how to buy in India
Contact Nakamichi?
This video was made in 2005. No time stamps at all.
I dont use time stamps
Recording the sound of a speaker for youtube is dumb, it will never sound like actually being there listening to it, i dunno why reviewers do it smh..
Yup. I stated this in the review. I agree with you but people always request demos. 🤷♂️
Thanks for the video.
Can you make measurements with REW and see the work of the default equalization types?
Written with translator
Greetings
Thank you! I dont believe the home owner has REW.
@@hatoraidcowboy Thanks for answering.
Can't you measure with REW and see objective measurements?
Not how that works on the Dragon since most of the speakers arent physical speakers…plus I dont have access to the Dragon anymore, its not mine and not my home lol
no real review ? how many out there can or want to buy a system like this coz the monster needs a space where noise is not an issues
Yup no one other than Digital Trends is reviewing this thing. People have them
@hatoraidcowboy i would want one coz it save money and space plus efforts tomset up coz a full of speakers plus whatever is required even cables to link up a home theater system ain't cheap and lots of tedious setup and room adjustment blah blah blah but the nakamichi's straight out of the box!!!
meant to bridge the gap between AVR? i don't know about that statement.. at its current price i just dont think its worth it. a 9.2 AVR and bottom of the barrel klipch costco specials will still blow the dragon out of the water with 2x the height effect and channel separation at half the price..
Pricing aside, there is a huge gap between soundbars and home theater setups. I didnt even mention price because that wasnt the purpose of the video. The purpose of the video was to see how close it can perform compared to an individual speaker setup for those who cant have a home theater setup in their home. I dont care about the price, I care about functionality.
Whether its worth the asking price, that’s a whole different topic.
Great review, i'm going to check out more of your content. There is only one bummer aspect to this system other than its lack of availability in Australia is that every speaker requires power sockets. In a bedroom with only two double plug points, plus with a ton of items already plugged in, having so many additional power points to accommodate is potentially risky if I can't get an electrician in to add more connections.
Thank you! Yea you do need a lot of outlets. You’d almost have to have the perfect outlet setup already or add additional ones like you said
Solution to most of you power plug in problems. Purchas a decent Power Conditioner like what I have the Panamax Line is very good. Then you can plug 11 components of power usage into the Power Conditioner, and it only has one electrical plug into the wall socket.
Either he didn’t buy that or they are lying on their limited editions, I have seen 1 of 500 dragon on two other review videos, they straight up showed it in the video said it was sent to them by the company passed around for reviews. Yet here you are 😂???
He bought it bro. I’ve worked with this dude for 15 years. They all say 1 of 500.
