  • Lidia Thorpe’s erratic outbursts have become a fixture of the Australian parliament. The wayward senator’s aggressive style of using violence and offensive language to push her message about the plight of Indigenous people has put many of her colleagues and the Australian public offside.
Sky News All Stars Andrew Bolt, Paul Murray and Caroline De Russo reveal the moments that compelled Australia to turn its back on Lidia Thorpe.

Absolutely not in the minority. Most indigenous people are mortified by her behaviour. Her people want to be respected , how can anyone respect that sort of carry on. Her behaviour at Mardi Gras, her appalling display at that pub, her disgusting behaviour in Parliament. The indigenous people I know are cringing at her behaviour.
Understandably they prefer the dignity of Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine just to name two examples. They behave with dignity and earn the respect of the whole community. . Lidia Thorpe merely earns disgust. On both sides of the fence.

As an Aboriginal woman myself, Lidia has made some good points politically... But we need the people who are chosen to represent us be articulate, humble and dignified. How you present yourself shows your intentions. Not attending strip clubs and screaming out in parliament. Her actions further drive the bias views some people have of our people. Who are her advisors? Are they elders? and when has the government ever had the best intentions of the people? We'll just continue waiting for True Justice from our Lord Jesus.

As someone who's worked in bars for a few years, i've seen the racist card pulled so much on me and my colleagues. We all have friends from all over the world and lots of happy patrons we love who're of color. But nope, now the indigenous person is being problematic yelling at people and because they're over intoxicated they have to assume you're being racist asking them to have a water instead of another beer or asking them to leave (our legal mandate) and then cast profanity at your establishment all the way out the door onto the pavement. "this is our land, not yours!". Well i was born and raised here, i treat my environment with respect, probably better than most, i served you happily and professionally all night and until now I had no indifference with you, but you're insistent that I'm personally the slob who invaded your country and did all that other horrible shit. Get similar treatment from feminists for being a male. Dealt with this several times in 3yrs from indigenous and let me tell u, they're passionate when they're spitting in your face pointing at you and swearing at you from the depth of their soul. It's a real deep hurt being projected when they're in your face telling you they're "gonna kill ya". It is obviously an important thing for us to realize the atrocities we've committed as whities, likewise as men we're to take responsibility for making females feel safe rather than predated on, even when we are being treated as threatening stray dogs seemingly unworthy of love or affection.. despite having the best intentions.

I grew up with thoughts of Australia based upon novels, TV shows and movies. I thought of it more like Mel Gibson's GILIPALI, CROCODILE DUNDEE or Steve Irwin along with a notion of masculine men and no-nonsense women. Lately, my opinion of Australia has changed to the point that I don't understand the country. It seems like many people are TRYING to go woke and happily give up their individual and collective liberties. I began watching the survivalist documentary series ALONE: AUSTRALIA here in the United States. Even the "survivalists" trying to live off the land in Tasmania seemed to be kind of wimpy -- and half of them quit within a few days (whereas American contestants largely last weeks and even months alone). I've watched a few Australian crime shows lately too -- and it seems like they are just oozing with woke-manifested caricatures and generalizations of others.
Has Australia changed? Or, is it just that my opinions of Australia were wrong all along?

    • @deelea2965

Yes you are right. It's just the general rise of milksop woke-ism everywhere. Especially on State-TV funded, politically-correct 'crime' shows - LOL. RE Tasmanian Alone... yes the casting was deplorable with gormless contestants tapping out in one day, two days, etc. Blame the producers who chose those dingbats. At the beginning the show drowned in crumby contestants and repulsive foul language. It was virtually unwatchable, except from the viewpoint of watching what floundering weekend campers do when they are completely out of their depth. The show had two real survivors only, and the ultimate winner was deserving.

6:24 Thank you Michelle Stephenson, you have eloquently stated precisely how I feel.
There is an enormous need for greater transparency with 'the voice' and the agenda driving it, which seems rather ambiguous and even somewhat suspicious.
Dialogue is required amongst intelligent representatives of rom each of the 'clans', ‘nations' (I’m uncertain which is the currently correct terminology), they must all agree then it can be presented fairly and equitably with complete transparency.
Additionally we all need to move beyond this living in and being crippled by the past, those responsible for perpetrating the deplorable injustices along with those who consequently suffered terribly have all long since passed, therefore no person can offer an authentic meaningful apology and no ancestor can genuinely feel that pain and be healed from it. The ancestors of those who suffered under most repugnant and barbaric atrocities would almost certainly feel incensed by what transpired and consequently require respectful and appropriate memorials including acknowledgments of the past wrongdoings so it is never forgotten nor denied.
We can all then collectively respect their memories and ensure unequivocally that such vulgarity is never repeated and we are all mutually respectful of one another and not deemed as representatives of those monstrous individuals of the past.
Only then can an appropriate decision be made and be realistically voted on, this has to be a once only deal and not thrashed around for review and renewed reparations each generation. So they all had better get it right so we can all move forward together.

In a strange way you do have a dog in this fight. If you pay close attention to the news report they talked about how the Aboriginal people inflicted violence on each other. This should surprise no one with a lick of intelligence. Indigenous people regardless of origin or continent have consistently engaged in violent genocide! Be that native Americans, Africans, Asians, Europeans, or apparently the first inhabitants of Australia. This idea that what often is referred to as the native people were they were these wonderful peace-loving people who were living in harmony with nature, is a total lie!
The problem with the so-called white privileged race, as well as other races in the past is that early on around the Mediterranean and in Asia the native peoples developed literacy to record what had happened. So yes you can document certain races breaking certain treaty's, but that's because they wrote them down! Archaeologists and other scientific pursuits constantly turn up evidence of people engaging in violence against the neighboring people's. Of course because the conflicts predate literacy amongst the people's involved there is no direct documentation.
An excellent example of this can be found in US history. The Lakota Sioux claim the Black hills are their sacred land, of course we know this is true because they won them fair and square in a war of conquest against the Crow people! Then there's the tale of Sacagawea how is it as a Shoney woman became a slave of the Lakota Sioux later sold to a French trader? Of course the answer is she was taken in a war of conquest conducted by the Lakota Sioux against the Shoshone!
All people's all races have blood on their hands!
