  • Welcome to the Swing Fix part of my channel which looks at faults and fixes from Subscribers requests.
Today we have a question from grumpy2159 asking why he has a tendency to shank the odd lob wedge when chipping. We go into the causes and also how to fix this destructive shot.

    Good tips
Especially with the weight going forward I had problem and use 2 golf balls underneath my feet to help push weight back practice this a week times and it works

Good information, Jay. This is one of the few faults that I don't have. I have a few friends that do have this problem. I referred them to your video.

Thanks +David Malesky, there's loads of great videos and information out there, trick is to identify which information refers to the individual. Too many people are constantly trying different things in the search for the secret to play good golf. You've done the best thing someone can by helping your playing partners with a known problem and ways to fix it.
Thanks for the comment and for watching and hopefully your playing friends won't get too good too quickly as they'll be getting dangerously close to beating you next time out ☺️

Excellent video, is it safe to assume that these to drills would apply to the dreaded shank with the longer irons as well? Thanks!

Hi Michael, to a certain extent yes you're correct however the full swing because of the increased speed, tempo and moving parts it's a little harder to diagnose. Definitely an individual swing fix rather than a generalised video. Early extension would be another possible cause in the full swing also an open face to a heavy out to in path is another cause.
Thanks for the comment and for watching. More videos and possibly an exclusive review coming soon.

Hi can you do a video on playing 80 to 50 yard wedge shots? I keep ballooning the ball or hitting it fat!

Hi there Mark, yes of course shouldn't be a problem. Sounds like a dynamic loft tethered with low point problem.

My experience is it’s too much forward shaft lean.

Wow this is an old video, I apologise for the poor video and audio 😊 my new content is produced far better 👍
To answer your question the shaft leaning at impact especially from an excessive path can very much cause them 👍
