Hey Strell, great review, as always. I just got my suggestions regarding this video that I'll just share with you and all the viewers: 1. Heating issue near brake lever - that's one issue no other reviewers has mentioned! Maybe all of them are too much hyped about this motorcycle that they completely ignored the heating issue. Well maybe that might make people to wear shoes rather than bathroom slippers or sandals while they're riding this bike. So somewhat a good thing? (😂 I'm stupud) 2. Side mirrors - typical cost cutting quality of RE. 🙄 No comments. 3. Fuel gauge issue - okay, this is something that I would like to share my experience. 3 of my friends own Himalayan BS4 and 1 owns Thunderbird 350. All these guys faced this same issues, and it's not that a deal breaker. After keeping the bike on side stand for a while and going for a ride, for the first few kms it will show reserve, then it will get back to it's actual figures. 4. Clutch feel - is it because it's a rental bike and since many are riding this same bike, the clutch got hard? Or can it be adjusted to make it smooth by a local mechanic? 5. FI cut off - I am an avid reader of TeamBHP and no one has ever noticed this issue before, so I can say you are the first person to notice this issue! And that is seriously a dangerous problem RE needs to seriously consider to resolve ASAP. These are just my views on the problems raised.. and honestly, this video is far better than other videos (about problems of 650 twins) like this I came through these recent days, some of which are literally hilarious! 😂😂 Anyways, once again, nice video Strell. :)
Change the mirrors, and adjust your clutch as per your user manual. Too much tight clutch will damage your clutch plates and light clutch will damage your gearbox. And I have the same problem with my fuel gauge too but that's the fun right! It's not a big deal. It's imperfection not the flaw.. Not any bike is perfect. I rode from Bajaj pulsar to BMW and I even found flaws even on BMW bikes! 650 twins are overall a decent product.
Really good that you pointed out such things which actually cause inconvenience. I wonder how come other so-called car and bike reviewers left these things out.
It's very weird that you feel that the bike has a heavy clutch. Because it is servo assisted and felt quite light. Do you think it's an issue with that particular bike? Regarding the mirrors, the bar end mirrors that RE sell for this bike should solve that issue. Please investigate the efi issues because some videos have been popping up showing the bike cutting out while riding. Great content as usual, please keep making more videos on the gt650, it makes my wait seem shorter 😅.
I am getting messages from other users about the clutch feel. And this is a brand new bike which covered 3k kms. So nothing could possibly go wrong apart from the service centre guy made it tight.
Hi Strell! Crisp video as usual. My interceptor has just crossed 600 kms. Done the first service. I completely agree with you regarding the erratic fuel guage. Full to full is my current solution. I am facing issue with the poor low beam. Plan to upgrade to Osram nightbreaker of the OE spec. My service center has lubed my rear disk along with the drive chain. So I don't have any bite on my rear brakes.
Nice information... I hve continental 535 n the riding is very much aggressive n I got several burns on leg as well on my first month back in 2017 however is it worth it upgrading to 650?
The FI problem is due to wiring issues similar to the Himalayan. When you keep the handle straight it will turn off, but when you turn the handle either way, the broken wire touches the metal neck and then you can turn on the ignition now
I really like this bike but what concerns me is it's touring capabilities and whether it can handle small time offroading? Will it be comfortable for long rides? Recently I saw a video where the interceptor fails at high altitude, have you heard anything else like that? Now seeing the Dominor 2019 I am having second thoughts. I consider touring a big criteria and Dominor being more technically advanced and being a good tourer, I am confused. Please help me out here bro.
I have a friend whose Interceptor spills out fuel from the fuel cap when he decelerates or brakes hard. His rear tyre also wobbles like crazy. He has made more trips to the service center than making actual trips. He had to replace his seat with something more comfortable. Talk about ergonomics. Not anything against the brand, but I believe that if you're a hundred-year-plus old company, you should've got your shit together by now.
I am so glad that re out of all the brands has brought in a twin cylinder bike in the affordable market ! And really do hope more manufacturer start building multi cylinder bikes in India.
There is small amount of air that passes from the fuel lock to push the fuel downwards... the tank bag must be cutting it off thus stopping the fuel...
All you said is 100% accurate. Even my friends are facing exactly the same issues. Two more issue to note is 1. this engine cannot handle low degree atmosphere. Places like Leh, Spiti etc. the engine just cuts off and is reluctant to start again. 2 of my friends owning a Interceptor faced this issue on the Ladakh ride. 2. In rainy seasons or again the places like Ladakh, the instrument cluster fogs a lot, lot of moisture is accumulated from inside. Also a bit of rusting issues faced on cylinder pipes and other spares right from the 1st rains of purchase.
did you also face brake fading? mostly in the rear because it's an issue i have been hearing about on this bike, i recently test rode a continental gt and the rear brakes kept failing probably because it got too hot.
Fuel indicator is the serious issue out of all the issues and also magnetic bag , but most of the ppl won't use the Magnetic bags unless they go for long tours etc.
Bhai pls tell that does the chain spocket break in this bike as I have a RE 350 in which when I ride the bike fast or roughly my chain sprocket's teeth breaks I have replaced it 3 times in 20000 km . So this RE bike has this same problem??
the tank pad thing is pretty true..i had been expericed the same couple of times....thank you so much for figuring out the issue...i spoke to re guys but they were not aware of this thing...
Hey can you just check and let us know if the cables are getting rubbed on the tank at the Steering T stem ? I observed that wires were jam packed at that area and were getting scratched when you turn the motorcycle ..
I agree, as injectors do works on principles of Electromagnets, use of bags or any other materials possessing magnets are prone to interfere injection operations
I didnt have any Issue with the fuel injectors ... even i have a Rynox magnapod Tank bag. Only mirrors Vibrate. And I lowered the Clip Ons for more aggressive posture 😂
Magnet won’t play any role, but fuel injector with low fuel it may off the ignition completely on all the Royal Enfield which had an fuel injectors in it RE should consider it
Hi strell. I own one and i can vouch for everything u said. Infact inwould like to add one more con by saying the turning rad is quite large as handle doesnt rotate much, typical cafe racer which i should have known. Rest your points are spot on, i face them too. But these cons are too small for the kind of package being offered by RE. I am extremely happy with the bike.

Great review, thank you for this. I am in the US with Continental GT 535 and want to buy a 650 if Royal Enfield ever finally releases it here. The 535 also has terrible fuel guage. I usually just use the odometer and go about 150 miles, then I'll fill up just to be safe. I know your 650 is a new bike, but how is it holding up? Any oil leaks? The 535 is notorious for oil leaks. Don't know if RE fixed that on the new ones.
Bro, I am also owner of continental GT. Fuel gauge not reading properly & vibration, at this Time bike start slowly vibration in mirror but the bike go for 100 and above nothing vibration feel. Over all the machine is so amazing.....I really love it..

Objects in the mirror vibrate when they appear.
Lmfao 🤣🤣
If one can add to that, Objects in the mirror vibrate more than you as and when they appear? :P
Not on the twins*
Oh mate... I thought my eyes was the ones vibrating .., thx for clarifying

The FI Issue was amazing that you noticed and probably RE should consider this issue
It's something that couldn't be solved
The FI is probably electromagnetic. Any significant external magnetic field will interfere with its operation.

Did you feel any difference in sound of interceptor and gt. Also any difference in the idle rmp of two bikes???
Really good that you pointed out such things which actually cause inconvenience. I wonder how come other so-called car and bike reviewers left these things out.

650 cc bikes have a tighter clutch , unlike 250 cc

Well the best ever channel i have to admit watching everytime every videos... Great going @strell 👍👍
How about the longride comfort in this bike ? Is it enough comfortable to ride arround 200 kms nonstop
Giving a 650 for under 3 lakhs doesn’t excuse RE to get away with these problems. Hope RE improves the quality.
In Germany it is 6lakhs man .. it is important if you are selling outside India
