      Hey , I know duke 390 and this 650 r different ( I have a gt 535 and I know d pain ) now I am thinking of buying a new motorcycle . Which is better between this two including interceptor. Your verdict matters to me. My mind is telling me duke 390 heart is telling 650 (though I had d experience of very very poor after sale service of RE) . Please give me ur opinion I'm waiting.

      @@anirbond100 I had the same dilemma as well. This is my opinion on both the bikes after having test ridden them twice
      Continental gt (pros) : better gearbox , more precise and positive shifts than on the duke .
      Engine extremely smooth and torquey at any rpm. Engine note is also amazing
      Engine should also last for years as it is highly under stressed.not much heat is felt on the legs due to rear set pegs
      The front brake on the gt actually felt better than on the duke .abs is a bit abrupt
      Duke 390 (pros) : better suspension for sure, bike stays more composed over bumps while cornering
      Brutal acceleration , very peppy engine
      Much lighter than the gt , more flickable . The metzlers on the 390 are better than the pirellis on the gt
      More features than the gt . Tft instrumentation is amazing .
      Styling is very subjective , both are very good looking bikes in their own way
      Build quality also seems to be about equal
      I decided to book the gt as it felt more special to me , the design is also timeless and that 270 crank exhaust burble is too intoxicating
      Hope this helped :)

      @@anirbond100 have you gotten the bike already? the gt650 has a Different frame as compared to the gt535 and I feel that the service and showroom personel are paying more attention to any issues with the 650 twins. Ktm has their fair share of problems with the 390. Valves need constant adjustment and some people have had issues with coolant mixing with the engine oil. Pick the bike that makes you happy I guess. Even I'm worried about the issue about the bike stopping suddenly.

    Good review on the touring capabilities of the GT 650. Looking back to it's British contemporaries of the day - Triumph, BSA and Norton, most of the motorcycles of that period had similar riding positions to the new GT for the UK market, and their export models to the US were again very similar to the new Interceptor. However, all naked bikes have compromises as regards riding position and wind blast; yes, an upright riding position (like the Interceptor) is perhaps more comfortable for cruising - but in my experience of such bikes, speeds of much more than say 100kph will result in very sore neck and shoulder muscles on a longer ride, because of strain caused by wind pressure. As such, despite slightly higher footpegs and a more lean forward riding position, the GT is likely to be more comfortable on long trips as regards wind blast until you reach considerably higher speeds - circa 140kph as you state. Good review and thanks! Keep up the good work.. :-)

    I took this very same bike to Mysore and back to Bangalore after watching your initial review. They don't have it in Bombay it seems so had to come to bangalore. This is a damn good product. Arfat told me 120 is the top speed limit, so I respected that and kept touching 120. If I owned this bike, I'd line the brake and clutch levers in line with my wrist to make it a bit comfortable, and get the single seat rather than the one that comes with the bike. For the 320kms I did, the wrist ache was bearable, but the clutch became so heavy that I was finding it uneasy to press it and change the gears. I missed having a quick shifter when the wrists get tired. For the amount of torture i put my body to, it was worth every penny spent and every kilometer traveled. And boy does that rear brake bite and stop this motorcycle! Best rear brakes on a bike.

    I've ridden Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650 and also Thunderbird 350X. I tend to feel that the rear tyre of all three vehicles get dragged to a side when braking suddenly from speeds >70+ kmph. It gives a feel that the bike will skid and we'll lose balance. Is it the same case with all the bikes which have two rear suspension springs? Because I haven't experienced this on Dominor 400 , R15V3 or any other bike which a mono shock rear suspension setup. Please clarify.

    Just came back from my second test ride of the interceptor. Took a test ride of the cgt too. I was not able to trip the tank at all because where you tighs land up is towards the bottom of the tank and as you said you would burn your legs before being able to trip the tank effectively.

  • @MayankTiwari24
    @MayankTiwari24 Před 4 lety +4

    My experience coming from a previous classic owner:
    I have GT now for 6 months, max distance i traveled in a day is 440kms, I enjoy the ride but there are some issues I face:
    1. seat is too soft, Longer i stay on the seat i feel the plastic base corner of the seat giving me hard time, my inner thighs were sore due to it, I think it could be chassis bar also but I think more probability is of the seats base plastic.
    2. I had backpack with me with stuff about 1-2kg and after whole day ride my back was totally fucked up so I suggest not to keep backpack on long rides instead tie the luggage on the seat.
    As a solution I am thinking of getting
    1. FEGO float cushion seat before my Rider mania ride in November.
    2. A suitable saddle bag which wouldn't burn because of up-swept exhausts.
    3. Getting handle bar changed to Interceptor handlebar to raise the riding stance.

    Strell bro... That stability issue is not the bikes fault. Its has a good suspension set up. And a stiff n steady clipon bars. The issues r with the wheel bearings. RE uses the same wheel bearings they used on classic 350s n 500s which can't even touch speeds of 140. They r dirt cheap at 40-50 rs. But of poor quality. Due to this quality they need to be replaced every 500-1000 kms. If ur bike had clocked abv 500kms then it's bearings must have come loose. The motochannels got fresh bikes to ride hence a with the wheel bearings in perfect condition it can stay stable till 170. Peace out. Love you vlogs ❤️

    Hope u didn’t understand the bike, for a bike of 200+ kg, the cruising speed enjoyable will be 100 - 110 kmph max, u can do more than that, but it’s not safe for our road condition. Also, for the height riders, GT will be a boon and interceptor as well. I own an interceptor and after 3 years, planned to convert it to GT. So please don’t mis guide the people. Let them choose as per weight management and budget. It’s not compulsory that all touring bikes should have relaxed posture, even they did Ladakh with RR310. 🙏we have plenty of saddle bags options in the market, look in to it for this upswept exhaust. Also tank bag doesn’t interfere with low rpms as u mentioned, I am using the Rynox magnapod tank bag on my interceptor, it doesn’t create any such issues as u said. Do check practically before delivering ur opinion. Or better read the Royal Enfield forums.

    Gt 650 looks like a cruzer but you got to bend like the way you do while riding a sports or race bike. Not really the most comfortable bike for long rides, pretty tiring

    Hi Strell. Yoga here. I am 178cms in height. I have taken a test ride of GT for like 30 kms organized by Ridermania. I felt wrist pain after 30 kms, I had to stop. At close to 150 I could feel the handling is compromised on indian roads. Is it still a nice bet over Duke 390 to buy?!! Planning for a bike very soon. Ur inputs are appreciated. Thanks 😊

    • @iamstrell
      @iamstrell  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Yoga, we have to be in good riding ergonomics when we tour on GT 650. We shouldn't give any pressure to the arms. That could be the reason for the discomfort. And your observation at 150kmph is correct, the motorcycle will lose stability because of slight wobble. As per me, its because of the tyres. If you think, upright riding posture is your liking, then Duke is any day a better buy.

      @yoga_v Před 5 lety +1

      @@iamstrell Thanks man. 👍 So do u think my riding posture on GT would have been not perfect and hence the pain on my wrist ?! If so, can u suggest a video or a small guide on that. And in some videos the showroom people claim that the stability issue is due to our roads quality and not the tyres post 140, u think that's the reason.

      @@iamstrell Hello Strell, I had faced the high speed wobble on my duke 200 @ +120kmph long time back & the root cause had something to with the forks & was solved. It would be great if you could look into it by re checking the screws connected to front wheel axle - 4 no's.

      @cannotthinkofoneatth Před 4 lety

      @@Varaprasad_Boloor not an issue with one bike.. it's common across call.. I think it's the rubber; too small for such a large mass and when you are at speeds, you need more contact patch and hence the wobble when the bike is trying to make do with what it has

      No there are no other issues all though that magnetic efi issue will be there with other metal tanks also but most of the other manufacturers apply a coating inside the tank to prevent such issues like that I can explain a whole lot more about it on what issue it is exactly but it won't be interesting although in my experience it is damn good bike a minimalist feel motorcycle it has just the necessary tools and things you need to ride and enjoy, you are gonna love it, apart from just small niggles nothing to worry about.
