A couple of schools of thought here as a conservative Republican myself. Andy Beshear's win was no surprise or shock to me whatsoever. I would consider Andy to be a very moderate democrat. Quite honestly as a governor he really has not been that bad. I would take Andy over Gavin Newsome all day long every single day and 1000 times on Sunday. The only thing I don't like about Andy Beshear was how long he milked the Covid bullshit. He ran a mostly positive campaign the only negative ad I can recall was his ad about Daniel Camron's hardline anti-abortion stance. The ad was 100% truthful. The overturning of Roe v. Wade is going to be the bane of our existence for sometime to come. Not because it was a bad thing to do because even Ruth Bader Ginsburg said it was bad law but because too many Americans are too stupid to realize what the overturning truly means. All I did was turn the abortion debate back over to the individual states where it belongs. As everybody can see abortion has won the day as far as I know on every ballot it has appeared on to include the red states of Kentucky and Ohio. There is no doubt in my mind Andy Beshear got a lot of Republican votes. If it wasn't for the liberal strongholds of Louisville and Lexington Daniel Cameron would have beat him in a landslide. But when you have Republican support for a Democrat that spans multiple counties that traditionally vote red the outcome of this election was obvious. Andy Beshear for a Democrat is a fairly likable guy. This day and age appealing to the masses is going to win out the day when it comes to elections.
He is also white and Cameron is black, tge Republikkkans dont like it.They hold them up as racist talking pieces but they NEVER even get close to winning, like, EVER.

California Democrats pumped a lot of outside cash to union get-out-the-vote machines in Louisville and Lexington. That's been the Democratic strategy in this state for a few election cycles now. And if you look at the numbers, the diminishing returns on that scheme are plain as day. Squeaking Beshear through is, God willing, the last gasp of that working.
