Steve Kornacki: Beshear won in counties where Trump won in 2020
#SteveKornacki #Election #Politics
Here in Kentucky a really big factor is how Beshear's administration responded to two big natural disasters. Those people by and large vote republican or not at all but went with the Govenor because he showed that he cared about their recovery. That may not be the only factor but certainly a big factor!
Good on Beshear for putting people first. That bridges the divide between party politics.
Thank you Donnie and all the fools defending the lies of a known liar. You are headed for a Thelma and Louis moment going full throttle. Go Dog, Go.
Good to know. Not from Kentucky so I don’t know what those disasters were
Also who wanted Cover-up Cameron the Trump Puppet?
educated people vote blue.
🇺🇸💙 Congratulations Kentucky!!!!
We did it!! Thank the stars we have Andy for 4 more years!
My son worked on Andy's 1st campaign! He is a stand up man!
Governor Beshear is just a really good Governor. He helped us so much in SE Kentucky after two big floods. Most of those counties to the East and SE Kentucky were all effected by the floods. We are almost all Republicans around here and even my dad who is a Trump Republican voted for Beshear.
It speaks volumes when the Secretary of State ran ads with Beshear. That is as bipartisan as it gets. And it is clear why he was the only democrat to win. He is moderate in his views and cares about the state. He has generations in the state of Kentucky. Meanwhile his opponent did everything but his job as Attorney General. You can’t unseat a governor that cares about the people.
The big issue people made up about daniel was how he was lazy about the breonna taylor case, but he did fight against non knock warrants, so idk what people were mad about other than his republican party conmections. He didn't lose because people hated him, he lost because people like andy
@@zuffin1864 lazy isn’t the right word. He flat out refused to do his job. It wasn’t because of laziness. It was about how righteous he was in holding the line on right and wrong. And everyone saw through his lie.
That’s really intriguing.
How does a candidate from the opposite party voters typically vote for convince them to switch sides?
@@ushousewatch I don’t live in Kentucky but my guess is the way he handled the flooding on the south east side of the state played a big factor. That area in particular showed up in surprising numbers for him. And I bet it is because they didn’t feel left out by his response even though they may not have voted for him the first time. When you care about your state as a whole you get better results.
What can the DNC learn from Beshear? Genuine compassion! Kentucky has been hit with a plethora of tragedies since he entered office in 2020. Beshear has no problem standing at a podium every day, crying with a family as though they were his own while he helps a community through a tornado, flooding, mass shooting, whatever it may be. We Kentuckians know the governor has our back no matter our party affiliation, and we will get through it together.
Then why do most Kentuckians vote for Trump?! I don’t think that lunatic could even shed a tear unless he loses money. I just don’t get it.
I still don’t trust the DNC. I think democrats have succeeded in spite of it.
Beshear can squeeze out a tear anytime a TV camera is watching; he is an excellent actor. He reminds me of Bill Clinton; who could look SO sincere while spouting absolute crap.
@@BulbaTheFrog That's a good question. I can only speak to my experience living in several places within KY. People in rural Kentucky tend to feel left behind by mainstream politicians, as though their problems do not matter. Then this famous billionaire comes onto the scene and speaks directly to them. Even though 80% of the time he is talking about himself, that 20% is more than they get from Democrats who rarely come here. They may stop in Louisville to charm the people who were already going to vote for them. When it comes to actual issues while putting identity politics and religion aside, there really is more that unites us than divides us. It doesn't help that news outlets have gotten very good at invoking fear and rage whenever they can.
@@wildmouse5888 Bill Clinton won in Kentucky twice. Can you think of a politician who doesn't "spout absolute crap"? Sometimes it's not about what they say, but how they make people feel.
The power of the People is greater than the people in power. Awesome work Ohio for voting to be Represented not Ruled.

this is part of the problem with US elections, they last too long(people don't need to be election mode for 2 years prior to presidential elections) and cost entirely too much(we are easily in the realm of having to approach or pass one billion dollars to run a successful presidential campaign), so only those candidates with billionaire donor daddies actually can compete.

One the thing is certain. The overturning of Roe v. Wade, for which the GOP relentlessly fought for half a century, has been an unmitigated political disaster for the party.
Ohio is still a red state
@@roejogan7770 It won't be if the Ohio GOP doesn't abandon its goal of an abortion ban. But if it does abandon that goal, a great number of anti-abortion voters are going to stop voting. In Ohio, as in a large swath of the nation, the GOP has painted itself into a corner on abortion.
@@markkozlowski3674 Why would anti abortion voters stop voting after this? That makes no sense.
@@roejogan7770 It makes perfect sense. For half a century, the GOP told anti-abortion voters that the overturning of Roe v. Wade would mean the end of abortion in America because only liberal elites and radical feminists supported abortion. It turns out that they were slightly wrong about that. And anti-abortion voters are furious, especially because so many GOP candidates have been trying to downplay the abortion issue. And so, if the 2024 presidential candidate does not back some form of nationwide ban, a great number of those voters will punish that candidate by not voting.

The Republican party fought every one of those improvements tooth and nail.
Lots of great people in the state of Kentucky . All over the state.
The real reason for that change from blue to red in the coal counties was a massive flood that occurred in the upper Kentucky River watershed. Beshear immediately went up there and coordinated clean-up efforts. The people remembered and rewarded him for his efforts.

Democrats do well, or as best they can, in counties with larger cities like Bowling Green or Henderson that have Universities. Education helps decision making in at least some instances.
To be fair, I believe the Bowling Green Massacre helped flip that area blue.
You do understand that in this case, education has nothing to do with understanding. The fact is that in college towns, a lot of people are getting paid by the taxpayers; either as employees or contractors and their employees. It is the same reason that the state capitols in most red states are blue dots.
@@wildmouse5888Wrong. More educated ppl live in state capitols and work for the government. Look at Dc’s lawyers per capita.
Also, people in the cities have a greater understanding of societal needs. they see more people, they see more needs. In the rural areas people get away with thoughts and actions that wouldn't fly in the city, they can be wrong with no consequence.. and they vote that way.
Education? Or in other words brainwashing into thinking that open borders, failed economy, and laundering money to other countries pedaling wars is doing well?!

I read an article this morning in samsung smart news, where a republican representative said this I quote "this election show that democracies doesn't work because they voted for abortion rights and decriminalization of Marijuana" and I was so shocked cause this is a tell sign that even if the majority of the people spoke against something that the republican agree on, and if republican not ok with that, they will definitely silent the people and try to take decisions for them.
Isn't that what they're doing right now?
There is some truth to that. We are a constitutional republic which guarantees rights of our constitution. One side of the political spectrum wants to step on woman’s rights among many other things. Meanwhile the other side wants to reign in the right to self defense with a weapon and the right to get rich off a successful business and the right to be able to say whatever you want no matter how wrong it is. If both sides would stop worrying about restricting the others rights imagine how successful our country would be.
