when you meet the right people at the right time, when the weather doesn't make up its mind,
and we almost bail, when I say just meet me on the beach, with a spot in mind at low tide. and theres appropriately no sail on this tiny boat we were able to reach. ⛵
the sun comes out to blind me at the end ☀️
I met @cadbykong during the early spring days in Golden bay at Tui community, both passing through with our own destinies. I put on a concert for the community and Cadby immediately approached me with his great gift, giving back and sharing passion he sees in people, he's on a mission. we managed to make this happen a couple weeks later.
this song is extremely special, vulnerable, nostalgic and loving all at once. I was put on the spot at the end, already just stunned by the one and only take we promised ourselves we'd do, and reflected in that moment on what the song is about. written at an earlier time, it's taken many forms since and will keep evolving I'm sure when needed, with the waves,
hitting the shore,
for those awash, ashore. also a reassurance, in the end, to stay sure...
thinking of my two grandfather's today (both covid survivors now) 💙
