- As part of the first performance in the new Met Stars Live in Concert series, tenor Jonas Kaufmann sings Cavaradossi’s Act III aria from Puccini’s “Tosca,” live from the Polling Abbey in Bavaria, Germany. July 18, 2020.
The timbre of his voice fascinates me! Sounds like a baritone with tenor extension! So warm and delicious!

How can u describe this bullshit with words like amazing , magnificant and so on ? He has no technick , no soul , no idea how to sing . He can not even take enough air to perform profecionally , the sound is lost and blocked deep down in throat and as a result all we hear is false notes . Listen to Franko Corellio or Domingo (in his best years ) and u will understand the difference . because the perfomance like that the opera nowadays is dead .

That was absolutely magnificent. Tosca was my mother’s favorite opera and I had the pleasure of escorting her to the production by our Indianapolis Opera Company months before she passed. While bittersweet she was happy to be out, happy to enjoy Tosca, and happy to share an evening with her son. A beautiful memory for me to this day. I now think back on that evening and smile. Bravo!!!!! And thank you.

Oh what an artist! The greatest Tenor of our time. Nobody comes even close to his vocal mastery today. Even Domingo and Pavarotti couldn’t sing the diminuendo on that phrase! If only I too could have been a tenor but, alas, I’m just a baritone and, as such, will never be able to sing these divine melodies! Bravo Maestro Kaufmann!

Sin complejos, arriesgando y expresando. Cansado de escuchar egos que no se la juegan y repiten lo mismo una y otra vez. Ir a ese pianísimo, cambio de color no puede ser más acertado dentro del contexto de la ópera.

No, it’s an accurate assessment, albeit a bit rude. It’s congested - not fully projected. He struggles with projecting his voice, and it gives him an unnaturally dark tone.
