I saw an episode of say yes to the dress where a woman bought the dress but broke up with her fiancé before he final payment. They have a no return policy so basically she could abandon the dress and get no money back on what she paid or pay it off and store it u til she decided what to do. So years later she gets engaged and comes back to alterations with the dress not knowing if it would hold awful memories or if she would use it. She puts it on and she’s like “this is still my dress, that guy wasn’t the right man but this is still the right dress!”
I love that she let you wear it!!! It shows that she loves you and trusts you. As I know if it were my wedding gown, and with such a story attached to it! I wouldn’t be cool with anyone other than like my best friend or daughter if I had one, wearing it.
@@katyb2793 You say that but that lace is top tier; it's finished edge lines up with the waist perfectly, the detail overlaps the front and back neckline of the main body of the dress perfectly too, there's the neck detail on top of that, and it all looks like one piece attached at the dress neckline and zipper. I did! It was in the window of a bridal shop for £1,450. There was no man on the horizon and I was a financially struggling single mum. About 6 months later a man I'd liked for a while asked me out and 6 weeks laater we were engaged. Meanwhile the bridal shop closed down and a fashion shop opened in its place. Thry were selling off the wedding dresses on a rail at the back of the shop. My dress wasn't there. I tried on a few but didn't like any. That is the perfect mix of pretty modest, yet free flowing, allowing for the female figure to show but yet it's something a young girl could wear. It's sweet, feminine, dreamy and still glamorous in its own way, without any sparkly elements needed.
Yeah I love it. Unfortunately many modest dresses these days are either very plain and boring or too heavy and unfit for warm weather. This one is perfect, modest but light and it flatters the body while not showing too much.
Ohh now I remember, there was an Edwardian revival of sorts in the late 1970s. The dress is absolutely gorgeous. It's sweet that your boyfriend's mom let you share it!

Since I always have to tailor pant anyway last one I did it. I use 52 (Brazilian standard), it's hard to find big sizes so when I saw a 56 I had to buy it.
Just for the fun of it when I was around 21 years old, I went with my boyfriend's sister window shopping. On the way was a bridal shop. So we stopped in to just look around. The first one I tried on, I loved. I knew that I would never find this one again and it was on clearance. I didn't know for sure who I would marry at that moment, I just wanted it to be in that dress! I think it was $500 something, back in the late 1980's. I bought it not telling her brother (she didn't tell him either)and luckily a couple of months later he proposed! 30 something years later and we're still happily together! So I definitely understand this story!!
No cause I think this is a sign to finally buy this one wedding dress that's been sitting at my local thrift store that I'm literally obsessed with lol
If its in a thrift store it will cost less than the fabric needed to make it. If its a loose fit, or a size up, you can easily have it altered when needed.
This dress looks similar to my mums wedding dress which she made herself based on a picture she found in a magazine. Unfortunately I can't quite fit it into it. I'm a bit wider in the back and have a bigger chest than my mum. My parents married in 1981 as well. Fun fact. My parents had an argument while my mum was working on her dress and mum threw a cup of tea at dad and it splattered on the dress so she got married in a tea stained dress. They're still happily married 42 years later and still have dumb arguments. Coincidentally my sister spilled tea on her wedding dress too. So maybe it's a good omen?
If you're comfortable with altering it, you can add panels to the side seams to expand the back and chest. With a talented seamstress and a bit of time to match the fabric, you'd never even notice.

Later when I went dress shopping, it was the first one I tried on. I kept an open mind and tried on more, but none made me as happy or feel as beautiful as that first dress. I ended up getting it (even though it was slightly over budget), and I have no regrets. If you like it, get the dress!!!
I bought my wedding dress two years ago when I was very single and it was the best decision! It was my dream dress, incredible price, and incredibly rare. Highly recommend
Your boyfriends' mom must really like you! Wedding dresses are so special and personal and to let someone wear theirs, even for a video, is a huge deal. You might have a keeper there :)
I love this story! I thrifted my wedding dress before I had even met the guy I ended up marrying. I was at the thrift store and found a beautiful 1960s wedding dress and tried it on and it happened to fit me perfectly! I bought it right there and then for $20. Almost a month later, I returned to the store, one last time before I moved out of state and happened to find the detachable train that went with the dress. That actually might be the prettiest wedding dress I have ever seen. I would honestly wear that whenever I wanted to just because of how beautiful it is
I actually did this. Saw my perfect dress in the window. Went into the shop to try on the dress. The sample size fit a dream and was half off. I walked out with a dress and a few years later my mom took the lace off her dress and put it on the one I bought. Best $200 I’ve ever spent.
Oh I definitely have a dress I can’t stop thinking about… buuuuuut it’s like $1500 sooooo I’m going to make it myself with a few added flares overtime❤🎉
I have one I've been thinking about for 3 weeks. It was only $100, but vintage and nowhere to wear it. But this inspired me to call to see if it could possibly still be available. Good luck to you too!
I brought my dress in 2009. I was already engaged at the time but not getting married until the next year or so later. £150 from Tiffany's. Always wanted a dress from Tiffany's. One of the last 6 of that style. I got it with help in 2009 and got married in 2011 in it to the same person I was engaged to at the time. We are happily still married. Upside, I was wearing a dress that not every bride wore that year and under £200 with alterations done by a friend for free for the length and adding straps. If you see your dress, get it if you can. Had I waited a year, I would have missed my chance completely. Worth it.
I am so that a platform like this exists. What I mean by that is I have lost all my extended and close family. It's me, my daughter and my husband. That's it. It's really fun to watch someone that has a such rich history period let alone through clothes. I just love what you do and my daughter and I love to watch your videos and then go antiqueing. It's a whole thing with us. Anyways I'm going to stop rambling. Thanks for the amazing content. Taylor and Lillian are huge fans
My mom wanted to stitch a white knee length dress for me, but she was lost in thought while cutting the material and ended up making a longer version of it. It became a white long gown, when I wore it and looked in the mirror 🪞 i saw a bride, so I neatly folded it and hid it in my cupboard coz that's gon be my wedding gown. However I don't have a boyfriend and am not even planning to date 😂😂😂

That is such a gorgeous dress. This is a hand me down dress someone WOULD actually want to wear to their wedding
NGL That's a damn well preserved dress! I thought it was bought recently! It's absolutely gorgeous!!!
That actually might be the prettiest wedding dress I have ever seen. I would honestly wear that whenever I wanted to just because of how beautiful it is
I don't blame her. The dress is stunning
Ngl, i think i fell in love with this wedding dress too. It’s so pretty 😍
Wundervolles schönes Brautkleid mit dezentem schönem Schleier❤❤❤
It looks like something a fairy would make. So beautiful
Worth it.
Stunning and classic. She has good taste
That is GORGEOUS
That dress is fabulous!
Such a 70's vibe! I'd get it in another colors to wear, most probably as a wedding guest.
it’s so gorgeous omg😍
I love this for her. The man was just a bridge to meeting the dress.
Man this is up there with Princess Grace's wedding dress in most beautiful wedding dresses I've seen
I can see why she couldn't stop thinking about it its beautiful
That dress is gorgeous!!!! OMG!!!
