  • Quick Edit of the Belt And Tensioner replacement we did yesterday.
    Super easy… I was dreading this for a week, but man… gotta love the B58, this thing always surprises me with how easy things are.
    We tried finding a B58 specific video but couldn’t, so we made our own. What we also saw was some people would use a T60 for the bolt in the middle of the tensioner to loosen it, we just used a 16mm socket to turn it to the right a bit, didn’t even need to remove chargepipe either! Just move it out the way slightly bend it up.
    Check on your tensioner guys! All parts were bought from @fcpeuro 📦🔧 ✅
    Build Wizard Assist from @hype_b58 🚀
    Check it out!

    Thank you for this video! You are right there is hardly any content out for the b46/48/58

    Thanks for this! I’m planning on doing this tonight. TIS says you have to remove the entire charge pipe to do the change, which is a total pain. Glad to see you could do it by just flexing the charge pipe out of the way.
    One important thing! You need to replace that throttle body gasket any time you take the charge pipe off the throttle body. You’re probably fine not having done it, but it’s cheap insurance.

    Good video, and very helpful. I was wondering on my previous N57 engined car it was easy to remove the cooling fan to gain extra room. Is that easy to do on the later f series cars? It looks as if it would make access a lot easier.

    Great video man. That little chirp noise is annoying and not talked about enough lol I have that going on alongside a leaking mechanical water pump. Might as well take care of both at the same time since I’ll have to remove the tensioner and belt anyways!

      Not too tight lol honestly. I can get my service bimmer tech inside to see if there's something in the BMW Elder scrolls on that though.

      @@b58racing I appreciate it. Google told me somewhere in the neighborhood of 14ft/lbs, so I went with a reasonable 168in/lbs. I thought about looking up the bolt grade and so forth, but decided that value was tight enough! LOL!

    mine is B48 but since its modular and pretty much the same as yours, im so happy finally found your video !! but you didn't say about gasket in chargepipe next to throttle body, should I change the gasket after removing it ? or just unplug-plug and play ?
    thank you bro

      Whenever dealing with a gasket, the answer can always be yes and you probably won’t be wrong lol. I didn’t have one, don’t think I really need it. Maybe it I had more miles

    i was thinking of getting a m235i but then i shifted my mind over to a 340i, kinda torn on what one to get. gonna tune the car to about 450-500hp and want it to still be pretty reliable

      go with the B58 man, you wont be disappointed. or if you can swing it, m240i would probably be the goldilocks for you. b58 is such an awesome platform (totally not biased cause I have a 340i myself 😂)

      @bravo09010901 Před 2 lety +1

      At this point, 100% go -40i. You will not regret it, lol. If you don’t get one of the M-lites, make sure you read up on packages so you don’t kick yourself later (e.g., M Sport, M Performance, track handling, etc.). With a B58TU HPFP, a DP, a tune, and a little E; you’ll meet your power goals easily. Get a Pure800 or another similar turbo, and then you can stay on 93 and make like ~550whp.
