I belong to an Art group. Sometimes at the end of a session, we have left over acrylic paints. I don't like throwing them out. So I use them in fast abstracts to use as pages in my journals.
Good morning Pam! 💕 You brought out the Derwent and I now have an overwhelming urge to pull out coloring books and Inktense. 😂 less water, more brush to move the pencil 😁 Fun project! Don’t drink the water… and if I’m nearby, don’t drink the coffee either because sometime during the process I will have dunked my brush into my coffee… more than once. 🙄 Have great weekend everyone! 💕
@@ThePaperOutpost too funny (and kinda morbid!) We had a rule in my house as a kid, no drinks were allowed in the studio for that very reason! Lol. Too many artists die from their art because many pigments contain toxic metals in them to create such a lasting and beautiful color. Sad but true!
@@ThePaperOutpost ANDDDD that's WHY I only use water bottles and coffee mugs with lids on my table!😉 And INKTENSE become permanent when dry.....so not clothes friendly. And you can wet your watercolor pencils with water from the brush and then draw. Try that! You can brush over it after and it flows more!
Just love watching you Pam 🥰.. have been watching the funeral of my dear Queen Elizabeth II today👑✝ and just needed some relaxed fun with a smile and you did not disappoint ☺🙏.. I just feel a million times lighter, thank you for being wonderful as always ❤✌🐕🌺🍃🌈
Watercolors are perfect for this, for people who don't have a painting skill, because while you're working on one area of the paper, watercolor is doing it's thing in another area. It will create so many beautiful visual effects; granulated colors will add texture; float two colors in a puddle of water and let them choose how the want to settle on the paper; paint a design with water first then lay color into it and let them flow. Let them dry then wet them again and add more. Sprinkle with salt while still wet. Like you suggested about all the tutorials - learn watercolor tricks and use them with abandon, not worrying that your brushstrokes look like anything.
You just gave me a great idea for a great kid's project....always looking for ideas for us to do together...2 grandkids...both 6 years old ... The idea is this: They love stickers...what kid doesn't....and, they also enjoying their hand at painting....I believe they could understand how to do the "curly q's ". Soooo, I think what I'll do is have them stick their stickers on the paper....and practice the "swirls" or "curly q's" between. Later, we'll try the flowers.😃 Thank you.
I love to watercolor, watered down acrylic paints, watercolor pencils, too....my mom is a fanatic artist...I learnt from her to enjoy all kinds of media...not saying I equal to her, but I enjoy playing.....😻
Thanks for entertaining me while I get through covid! I don’t feel like doing anything but I can watch you create and look forward to the day I feel good enough to play.
I love making my own backgrounds for the very reason that it’s mine and I can do what I want with them. There are times, though, when it’s great to use a digital from someone else.
I love to put in a plug for one of my favorite versatile tools - Caran d'Ache Neocolor crayons - water soluble thick crayons that create different effects depending on how you use them. Dry on dry paper, dry on wet paper, dip the tip in water and apply on dry or wet paper, use a wet brush to reactivate them - every technique creates a different color
I love what you created ❤ so free and fun! Buying pre-made paper is cool but I think creating your own this way is more personal and carries a part of one's self and journey❤ thank you darlin 😊
LOL!!! It's snowing leaves!!!! I had every intention of going into my craft room to paint but my desk was messy so I started to clean up and hung up something too heavy on my peg board which brought the whole thing crashing!!! So I moved the things out of the way and picked up most of the stuff (mostly foam brushes and extra binder clips!) and redesigned my peg board. Then I decided to hang a shelf but couldn't find the right screw to screw it into the hutch....Now my craft room is in a worse mess but I can't hammer the screw in because hubby is napping. So I wait and watch your video in anticipation that sometime soon I shall attempt to make this wonderful piece of art!!! Have a nice weekend.
Good morning Pam. Hi to all paper outpost friends! I really love including my own original touches in my journals. it makes them so special for my family and friends. thanks for all the wonderful inspiration. you are so talented and creative. hi sunny
Hi Pam, it is a lazy Saturday and I decided to follow you doing water colors. I have had a water color set for over 5 years that had not been used. TOday was the day thanks to your video! Now that I "got my feet wet" hopefully I will Create with Reckless Abandon!:
Oh my gosh Sunny, your mom is so smart! I have a ton of watercolor stuff and had never considered making junk journal supplies with it! These remind me of coffee dyeing in color!! 🎉
add a paper-clip to your tape to find the start, under the end when you cut it or something smaller for washi-tape. thanks for all all do you do to help me learn to " junk". jenna kaye
Good morning Pam and Sunny boy! A painter I am not but I love your art! The best part of my day is watching you create your beautiful crafts! Please hug sweet Sunny for me! Happy crafting everyone!😊
I love how your master board art came out. So cool. I must get some water colors and paper...and probably brushes.. Of course I won't have a box full... so many sizes and shapes. Thanks for the inspiration. Love and belly rubs to Sunny. ❤️🥰
When I was in kindergarten I got sent home from school because I had the measles. I stayed home from school for a week. I then returned to school on a Friday. I got sent home that day. I had the mumps!
I spray the backside first with water, then turn the paper over and paint there. By wetting the backside, it will start to curl that direction. Then when you turn it over and tape it down and you paint the front side of the paper, it will pull that way and it flattens itself out so it will dry flat.
I have commented before that you and I are in tune. I have done a different kind of masterboard on my channel. It was a few weeks ago, but I did a doodle idea on cereal box (gessoed). Reminds me of my idea. This will look amazing all cut up and inked up. Hazel, Nottinghamshire, UK ☆☆☆♡♡♡ xx

Morning Pam. I just love your creations! I especially love what you did with the vines. So cool. I also like the idea of creating my own masterboards/designer paper which is something I use to do a lot. Thank you for reminding me that that is an option!
The success of a watercolor pencil depends just as much or more on the quality of the watercolor paper you’re using. Derwent pencils are excellent, but on cheap mostly-cellulose paper, it won’t do as well. It is beautiful on papers with a high cotton content. I use Derwent and Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer brands of watercolor pencils, and they both grab and blend best on better paper. But the fuzzier look on cellulose paper can be a thing, too.
Agreed, I bought a high quality cellulose paper for my college watercolor course several years ago and while it is more durable than the cheap stuff, it can’t hold a candle to 100% cotton rag like Arches.

If you want a really good watercolor paper for eco-dyeing you would probably have to get a high quality cotton rag, like Arches… more durable, but very expensive.
