    My guess is increased pitch variety for the purpose of having movement that counters specific batters natural swing angles. Essentially making the ball as small as possible through the swing area.

    The next evolution of pitching really depends on whether a “robo-zone” or umpire calls the strike zone. The evolution really will come down to am I working against a human or computer. Until that is known, I don’t think anyone can really say where things will go. I will admit, more pitchers will make in-game adjustments to their grip, arm action, or placement based on regression analytics of how batters change over the course of a game and season.

    Trevor have a video/request. What happens when a big leaguer gets traded when they have a house a family and a life in a certain place? For instance Joc going to Atlanta from LA. Do they sell the house and uproot the family, or what are the things that happen when that happens? Thanks.

    • @k9spjack
      @k9spjack Před 2 lety

      Joc signed a Free Agent contract with the Chicago Cubs and was traded in the middle of the season by the Cubs to the Atlanta Braves. And Trevor did a CZcams video about being traded when he was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Cincinnati Reds.

    • @blink182lives100
      @blink182lives100 Před 2 lety

      Yea its a whole thing and it really differs from player to player. For example if the player that gets traded is a player with a high salary his agent probably just finds him a house to rent for the remainder of the season, if the player has kids maybe the wife and kids fly out to stay with him for the rest of the season or if the kids are in school maybe they can't just move and the player will have to be away from his family for a while. If the player is a younger player with a lower salary I know sometimes team veterans will be nice enough to let the younger players live with them for a couple of days while they find a spot of their own. In Joc's case he has a wife and kids and has made some pretty good money in his time in the MLB so he probably moved his family out to Chicago and rented a house (because he only signed a 1 year deal) and then when he got traded to ATL he probably found a new house out there to rent for the rest of the season and more than likely brought his family with him because his kids are still really young and aren't in school

    Hey Trevor how do you personally apply Vertical Approach Angle to your pitching

  • @chibbyranjo
    @chibbyranjo Před 2 lety

    You mention in the second half of the video about “single pitch philosophy” and about sequences of pitches. Is there something to be learned from cricket in that regard? Cricket bowlers have six balls to beat a bowler before being rotated out for at least six balls. They sequence balls to influence behaviour of the batsmen. Just a thought.

  • @adamkingston2231
    @adamkingston2231 Před 2 lety +2

    I think the prevalence of high fastballs has grown because of hitters chasing launch angle as well as pitchers tunnelling pitches. Once hitters started doing upper cut swings pitchers, young and old, realized that they can’t get to the high heaters.

    I never looked at tunneling as 'throw everything at the same spot and let the ball movement move the ball around'. I always felt like the tunnel was just the visualization of it ala Pitching Ninja and it demonstrated how the pitcher was able to throw everything with the same arm action. Doesn't mean you throw them all to the same place.

    Trev, why do you think Bueler threw 8 straight fastballs to Rosario with a 1-2 count and served up a tater to right field. Why did he not throw in at least one off speed pitch on that AB with runners on.

    The future of pitching should be better communication with the catcher. They should allow the catcher and pitcher to have mics similar to football. Are the catcher's left behind on some of the sequence theory? I used to be a catcher, and it helped to think forward to one or two pitches ahead.
