OK - here's a good tip for you.
Firstly, as you know, I've been in every single county.
OK - whenever you go out for a day trip, always ensure you have at least two locations scheduled (they'll be on the same route).
There are a LOT of important reasons for this -
    1) you'll break your journey at the first location so the journey will be less boring.
    2) if anything should go wrong at one location (for whatever reason) you've still got the second location to go to.
    3) there's simply so much to see in the UK, that you need to tick off at least two in a day if you have any hope of seeing as many important sites as possible.
And finally - I usually will return by a different route to the outgoing route.

That probably just illustrates the difference between American thinking and British thinking based largely on the physical size of the two nations. You went out on a drive to see some locks two to three hours away - for you that would be seen as 'just down the road.' But we Brits would mostly think, three hours? That's a week's holiday away somewhere!

Hi Chris & Jess there was nowhere to comment on your Belvoir Castle trip so I’ve added it to this one. Been there many times it’s only 14 miles away from where I live, you pronounced it correctly Beaver Castle. I don’t know which way you approached the Castle but if you travelled through Woolsthorpe a village 2 miles from the Castle this is where Sir Issac Newton was born, Physicist, Mathematician and the man who discovered the laws of Gravity and invented Calculus. Did you also visit the Engine Yard opposite where you parked. Belvoir Castle is one of the locations of the 1980 film Little Lord Fauntleroy. If you’ve never been you would both love Chatsworth House 57 miles from Belvoir Castle. If you like firework displays every year later on in the year there is a firework display competition held at the Castle, I’ve never been but know people who have and they say it’s good. As always safe travels.

There’s plenty of locks around, but one flight to consider is Caen Hill locks in Devizes, Wilts. Plenty of parking and you could combine it with a trip to the Crofton Beam Engines to see how they get the water back up the hill after the locks have been used, or to one of the many white horses carved on the hill sides in Wiltshire. Or even visit Wadworth’s brewery. One of the very few breweries who still use Shire horses to make deliveries to pubs within a couple of miles. It’s also not far to the tallest prehistoric man-made hill in Europe, Silbury Hill. Or Avebury Stone Circle another prehistoric site. Plenty to do in that area if plan A doesn’t work out.

Hatton has a few carparking spaces. And warwick parkway has a vast car park both are pay for the day using the Ringo App. You can walk the couple of miles along the towpath the cafe and canal car park is halfway but often very busy at the weekend.

Surprisingly his paintings are very calming and thought provoking, and I get this from your video. Check him out ! He was very popular mid to late 19th C. Thanks again for your videos. Oh, not really! Haha, at this time, my children don't want any children of their own. I'm sure they will change down the road, but once it happens, I'm sure it will be fantastic. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

You should have asked someone where to park.

Definitely would've, but they looked a little wet and not too joyful. So, I didn't want to hold them up. Really appreciate your comment. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

Why didn't you ask anyone walking around if they knew where to park?

They looked a little wet and not too joyful. So I was trying to be kind and not hold them up. Thank you for your question. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

An uncomfortable and disappointing journey. On this day however, let us remember the journey taken 80 years ago by thousands of American and British troops. A journey of great danger and hardship.
We all remember them, and give thanks for their sacrifice.

Nice video. As mentioned before..you MUST get across to Normandy in France and visit the American War Cemetery’s before you go back. Not only will you taste a little bit of France, but visiting the area and museums will be a memory to never forget. Keep exploring. 2025 will be here in the blink of an eye and soon you will be a long way from here. Grab what you can. Cheap memories made today will be priceless one day long into the future. 👍🏻

A canal to visit is the Llangollen canal and a visit to the Froncyllte Aquaduct Quite an experience to cross over it in a boat
