Great video. Thanks for sharing. I will say the fins can come out on their own. I understand the concept that you'd have to go "backwards" for it to come out, but it happened (?). New board, new fins, 5th time out with it and my middle fin (of the 3) is MIA after a two hour session in mild conditions. I took a tumble or two so I assume that's when it happened. Update : After sending photos and answering a couple of questions, SurfFCS sent me a replacement center fin a week after I first contacted them. They noted how unlikely it is to fall off if properly installed, but said I could add grub screws to prevent it from occurring again. I purchased the fins from a local surf shop, and they still assisted. They were great a great company to work with.
I suggest (among others) that you use the rear grub screw. I lost a quad trailer going over the falls when it caught me on the calf. Hurt like hell and left a good gash and bruise. Thank God I was wearing a full or it would have been stitches, no doubt. On the other hand, if I had the screw in, it probably would had done serious damage. That's a thinker....
Take piece of fine wet and dry and round the edges off your fins . It won't affect the fins performance in the least and will be a lot safer ..sharp edges are not needed anywhere on a surfboard .
Thanks for the video! I wasn't sure if this system is backwards compatible.. Good to know that I can surf my FSC I fins in new boards that have this type of fin box
My 10yr old son lost a fin this morning at a super mellow longboard spot riding his 5’6” JS Flame fish. I have ridden futures for 19 years and never lost a fin. 3rd session on fcs2 and lost the left fin. I will never buy a board with fcs2 boxes again.
it's july 2024 and i just came here to learn how to install my fcs ii fins - thank you, i'm trying them on the sea tomorrow morning :)
That was awesome. Thank you so much. Saved the day for the first surf trip for my son! Defiantly paid it forward to me!

They fall out easily - add the screws
Thanks buddy, appreciate the help you give to hopelessly unpractical people such as myself.
Just bought a new board with FCS 2's. Glad I came here before buying screws. Thanks for the vid

Thanks man. Boyfriend went to buy fin screw and stumbled for half an hour. One Google search led me to this
Just got my board from surf industries today with fins and was so perplexed where TF the screws were 😆thanks for this info!

Lubericate the tab on the fin by rubbing on a small amount of surf wax.
Thanks this really helped
Literally a cheat code, thanks
I know it's 3 years later. But you're the real hero right here. Thanks bro!
These things are so tight..... I dented the bottom of my brand new Sharpeye holding it down just trying to remove the darn fin.....
Yup worst invention ever
I have a mick fanning eugine and cant seem to get some crappy fins out that dont use screws. Any ideas?
can you use FCS AM3 fin in a board with a fcs II "hole"???

This video is super helpful!
Surf‘s up dude
Hows it surf as a quad man?!
these fins fall off i just lost one so i would get the new ones
I’d put the screws in so you don’t lose fins..I’ve lost 2 fins sadly
it didn't work for me. maybe its because i am only 13 years old and i don't have the strengh to do it, but it just doesn't work.
I wouldn’t just trust that you don’t need the set screw, unless you want buy more fins.
Yep lost a fcs II fin today
The fins pop out easily - rubbish design - add the screws
Dont use this system it’s so bad
I'll make sure to tell Carissa Moore that next time I see her 🫡
Same 😂😂
