THANK YOU for the tip about the different hardware for front vs back door. I had done it wrong and was getting frustrated trying to figure out my mistake. Your video saved me!
Awesome Kate so glad I can help thank you for sharing
Thank your. It was so helpful to know there were two types of brackets to prevent the doors from rubbing.

Holy crap. I was going to destroy something because I didn't understand the the difference between the two sets of wheels that attach to the top of the doors. Thanks for showing the difference so I didn't destroy these doors and anything near me. AAAAHHH!

hey tk....you did it man...thanks for commenting!
I had to cut the track and drill new holes where the old track holes were. The rollers need to be 2.5 inches center to door edge. It would help if my wife wouldn't jam so much stuff in the closet. I got the kit from Lowe's.
hey james! great stuff.. over stuffing is the closet door's worst enemy..lol thanks for sharing!
She can't stop overstuffing the closet anymore than she can stop breathing. I hope you sprang for the good kit. :)
Love you're videos! Now replace that dead battery in that chirping smoke detector! :)
Ha 1A. thanks for the comment! and thanks for watching!

Thanks really helpful video anyone have a link for the hardware that worked best.
Hey Hugo. This is the classic bifold door track kit from the Home Depot.
Good job Dustin. Now I know what to do. You made it look so easy. BTW you spoke in every day English, so it was easy to understand you. Thank you very much!
Question? Noticed tiny holes in my doors. I found out I had termites when I noticed their dropping close to the bottom of the doors. I could not open the doors and could not figure out why. I had a saw blade and started cutting the bottom of the doors and there was a lot of sawdust substance coming out all through the doors' opening at the bottom. Was that part of the door and was it because the termites ate through some of the door. It was clogging up against the bottom door divider. Once I cut the sawdust substance( was a lot), I could slide the door. Did I do this right? Am I suppose to paint the bottom now. The door was painted in the past, but not on the bottom of the door. Any comments? Thanks!
hey HOA..wow...i could see how a termite mound could add some resistance...sounds good to me...and you may want to paint them too..well done! you're awesome .:) .thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you for this video. I've done everything you've outlined in the video but now we cannot get the front door hung--it just won't "grab" the rail. We're angling it out towards us as we attempt to hang it and have the correct hangers on the correct doors. My husband is currently yelling at it and my children are hiding in their rooms. Help! Doors are 1 3/8" so #1 in the back and #2 in the front. Thanks for any help.
yikes thom! everything sounds about right..i would try 2 swap the door places...its nothing else it could be!...... good luck friend.:)
@@homemend Thanks for the response. For some reason everything was wonky that day--everything easy was difficult...we're good to go now! Love this channel!
When I went shopping for replacement sliders, I noticed different sizes. Quarter inch offset three eights offset 1 inch offset. Should the offset for the back doors be different than the front? Theyâre still rubbing against each other.
Hello Dee!!!. Yes absolutely the front doors and the rear doors will have different offsets.
Fixed our doors! Thank you for keeping it simple!
thank you bracken!
Just recently bought my first house and have 2 sets of sliding closet doors. The BR doors are working pretty well...for now! The LR, on the other hand, is a mess. The doors are original to the house, the decoration is 75% gone on one door and they scrape like crazy. When checking, I noticed the hardware on one side was on the wrong door. So I switched it thinking that might be a decent temporary fix, and I was wrong. Right door still scrapes (on decoration and top of door) and left door barely moves without the right one without chipping. I was just going to replace the hardware & track but it may make more sense to get new everything. Problem is, most of the doors I see are 78x48 and I need 78x24. REALLY don't want to remove the decoration, and repaint these ancient doors!
LindsayDD awe Lindsay Iâm sure they are gorgeous. Save them at all costs! You might find 2) 48s? Iâm praying for you! Thanks so much for sharing.
I wish they were nicer looking but they really aren't worth it. The only option to save them would be to remove the decoration since most are missing from the left door. So when measurements on product listings say 48", are the measuring door jam to door jam, or each individual door? Meaning 24" per door or 48" per door. Never had sliders before, so it's all new to me. Thanks!
hi lindsay! usually its measured for the opening. you would need to measure your opening im guessing 90"? for (2) 48" doors... not sure if the depot carries such a large opening..you may need to order it..i hope this helps!
@@homemend hi
Thank You So Much This Is What I Needed To Fix My a Sliding Door Because my brother broke it he got angry
thats awesome mr chicken! glad we could help!
Thank u
Thank you Daniel!!
great video, thanks.....just like I installed my doors earlier today....but, they both seem to be scraping against the floor... I wonder if the floor is warped? .....the hardware is correct....and the doors are as high as they can be.....any suggestions before I throw 'em out the window!?!?!? ;-)
thank you Mitch! sometimes, due to builder specs, standard doors won't fit the hole.. I would suggest trimming the bottom off as needed. If you cut off more than an inch the hollow core doors will be open at the bottom, if you check out my " hinge and hang a door" video, I demonstrate how to correct the open bottoms on a hollow core door, if needed. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
thanks for the suggestion!.....so, after trying to scrape off some of the wood by hand...with a sawzall blade and knife.....and getting nowhere..except aggravated...I remembered, ...hey, actually have a jigsaw!!....so, today....I trimmed a 1/4" off the bottom of each door....hung em up......and they work like a charm!! I'm feeling like Tim the Toolman!! Thanks again for posting the video!...
I have looked over my track and I can't find any screws. Are some glued in? I need to replace my track but don't want to start tearing out the track if it will mess something up later
sometimes caulked in i suppose? i hope this helps!
where can i get the top track from? and whatâs it called?
hey lil..its a "sliding closet door track"..home depot is where i get mine.
Hours of forcing my closet door shut switched the rollers. Deeeeeesduuuuuhhhhdeeeed what chick move im emberassed thanks
You rocked it Sonja!
You need to change the battery to the smoke alarm
Fernando Cortez hey Fernando! itâll have to wait until the next video! Thanks for watching!
Home Mender Inc lol! Great video brotha!
When my door slide, the hardware hit the door. Maybe your door 1 and 2 is the clue. I might have purchased hardware for the inside door but I need the outside door hardware. Thanks
Keith Koch you got it Keith! Thanks for commenting!
Repair accordion closet doors
Hey Alan sorry buddy accordions arenât really worth it. We usually just replace it
I did that and they still stick together when I try to slide them.
Hey Em steed⊠It may be time for replacement. I hope the video helped.
I can see WHERE that front door was scraping back one before you fixed it. is it because old hardware? so one should buy all new hardware to make job easier.
hi louis. yes definitely. Thats really the only thing that can go wrong with them. The track kit comes with new hardware so for 13 bucks, its like getting new sliders. thanks for watching!
Hi
hello Z A
Thank you so much I really appreciate
It
always..thank you!
1:01 well damn, ok then lol
hey jessica! thanks for commenting!
your information is not clear. We could not do like you. You hided the old and new rails. You do show why old rack is nto working.
Hey buddy sorry for the confusion. Replacing the hardware and the track will work in most cases.
Dude, please do something about your microphone and audio. Thanks.
hey sam sen!.. actually this one was on location in a vacant house so they tend to echo a bit..i hope you learned something! thanks so much for commenting!
@@homemend I did and your videos are helpful. Though, as said, could be even better with a better mic. There are plenty of options and no, you don't have to spend a lot to get a good mic. So please have a look on that line. Nevertheless, Thanks for all your effort, including reply.
absolutely! thank you sam!
Thank you for the informative video :-) I guess Iâm old-school and probably more focussed lol so I really donât care or mind if the audio has an echo or if the battery in your smoke detector needs to be replaced. The point is you made a great video. Thanks for posting and putting up with public scrutiny for something like that lol.
