You did an awesome job! I've been seeing a lot of diy projects for the home with women doing the work & I absolutely love that! I'm a single mother of 3 & I just bought my first home. With no husband, I'd been thinking that it'd take a million years or hitting the lottery before I could finally afford to do the projects that I want to do in my home, which was very discouraging. You diy ladies here on CZcams have given me so much hope. I plan to do this for my bedroom closet, as I absolutely despise my sliding doors. Thank you for the info & encouragement! 💙💙💙

These videos are coming at the perfect time for me. I’m putting together my design for my boys room and I had some of the same ideas so it’s nice to see how they will look in the end. We also have the sliding door and my husband hates them and wants to buy all new doors but I love the idea of using them to save some money!! We will definitely be doing this in their room!
I’m always looking to save money wherever I can! Much rather spend money on the fun stuff like decor than buying new doors when I already have doors.

Don’t be fooled by CZcams magic. This project took me about 4 times longer than I thought because it was my first time doing it. But the second time was much easier.

Is there any downside to not removing the drywall and just attaching the doorframes over the existing drywall?

I think I would have done all the demolition before the painting. A tarp over the carpet for easy clean up and minimal dust stuck forever in the carpet. Will you be painting the inside of the closet? Having said that; you did an amazing job installing the doors. Learned alot!👏👏
Definitely should have done the demo first. I didn’t realize that I would have to remove the drywall. Nope not painting inside the closet.

Your sons room is going to look great when you are done! I just finished painting my daughters room and she has the same closets door that pull open. I noticed you have the textured doors too and I used a mini paint roller on them ( still a work in progress - roller a fail) because I was afraid of brush marks, did you get any with using a paint brush? I have to finish the doors by Saturday so I can move on to the next project.
No I didn’t get any brush marks. I used a good brush and it helps when the thing that you’re painting is textured like my doors are.

I hate the sliding closet doors in our house. I wish I could only see 5/8 of my closet at a time…said no one ever! Loved the video, but I have to ask what sort of hinges you used? It doesn’t appear that you mortised them to the door or the frame?
They are non mortise hinges. The link is in the video description.

Instead of removing the upper blocks, next time drop the hinges down.
The dark colour I understand your son picked, I find dark colours depressing and it makes the room looks boxed in, sorry just my opinion 😔
It’s not what I would have picked for sure but make sure to check out the next video because I think adding all the stuff back in the room makes a big difference.
