This is the worst cabin air filter design in automotive history! Great job Nissan.......
I just ordered one for my wife’s 2015 Altima. Dumbass design
I changed mine yesterday and I cursed the designers quite a few times! I was not able to contort my body enough to make things easy so I ended up removing the glove box. And I think that a bird was living in there. No idea how it got so dirty!
@@brianoconner2972 you cant be serious about taking the dash apart.
@@BladeRunner.43 Just the glove box. The position was just too weird for me to install it and I would rather take the glove box out than twist my arm off trying lol
I work in the car industry daily. I check 75 90% cabin filter. But these it's not worth the dollar we recieve to check them. Pain In THE Azz
This is a very difficult job. I had to use sticky tape on a screwdriver to get the old cabin filter out. Filter is in a stupid location for access. Only a dealership would delight in the fact that it's so difficult to change that you would have to pay for the service. I'm a 74 year old woman and I refuse to let Nissan get the better of me on this.... so I did it myself.
I agree it is a poor design, but go you on getting it changed.
I can guarantee even the dealerships dont like this, not worth the time or effort to check considering people dont buy them 60% of the time.
Agree! The engine air filter takes 2 seconds, but the cabin air filter is a major pain. But, like you, if I can do it myself I will!!
Just left the dealership they want $150 to do this job
2015 Nissan Altima. Difficult but Both filters have been Changed! Thank you!
Great to hear!
Thanks! The directions were clear and I was able to change the filter with no problem thanks to you.
You're welcome!
Yeah right😅
Thanks man thought I had to take the glove box out. Big help 🤘🏼
Glad it helped!

Thank You the video was great boyfriend got it done in less than 5 mins.
Great job!
I should know I have an Altima and have destroyed 2 trying to fit them....not the fault of the filter manufacturers.
Nissan's engineer did a poor job designing this housing.
Mine is stuck in there from previous owner i dont know how to get it out
Using needle nose pliers can help get the filter out. It is what we use when they get stuck in the housing.
So I think the biggest pain is sliding the plastic housing cover back on since you can't see it other than the bottom portion where the tab unlock is. It seems like its locked but the top it's tough to tell if on the track completely. I think ultimately worst case is slight air gets through but for those who are real picky it might bug them.
I agree that this is a poor design and latching on the housing door takes some time to get back on.

I’m currently trying to get this cabin air filter out and have no luck.
I'm trying to get this shit out... Nothing and I don't trust a shop to do it cause they gonna take the money and just say it's done. Gotta get some hooks or something to get this out cause mines is not right in the middle when you pull the tab it's like press in toward the front.
All cars made nowadays are meant to keep us average people from installing our own spark plugs, a/c filters etc.. , how convenient for the mechanics!!!😡
They certainly don't like to make it easy for us!
The WORST cabin filter design, placement and retention clip I’ve ever seen! I detailed cars and have removed and installed dozens of these in many different brands and this is by far the most horrible design! When I touched the clip it just fell off meaning the techs at Nissan clearly weren’t able to re-install it correctly either last time it was replaced. Then you have to squeeze and bend the filter to get it in? 1 minute job on almost any other car, but 15 minutes of having to first watch a video to find where the filter is, then get the old filter out, install the new one and then 12 minutes trying to get the clip to install properly with no luck is ridiculous!
Yes Nissan installs have poor designs. They need to do a better job.
Spent $60+ at Valvoline just to have mines changed 🤦🏽♂️
Next year when it is time to change you will be ready to save your money.
Wow!!!
Valvoline and Einstein are rip offs
