Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant opens up on never getting a fair chance in the league, his relationship with Jerry Jones, Romo, breaking generational curses, Cowboys organization, CeeDee, Dak and Lamar Jackson MVP
Chaos in Dallas seems to be something familiar and after a shocking wildcard loss this past wknd, Ryan, Fred and Channing are sitting down with former star wide receiver Dez Bryant opens up and telling all about what really went on inside the Dallas Cowboys organization.
Dez will go down as one of the top Dallas Cowboys receivers to wear the star, but the stories and attention that followed #88 for a decade is what the former WR is sharing about dealing with pressure, expressing the disadvantages to succeeding in big D and lack of family support growing up motivating him to make a change in his own adult life. In an emotional conversation, Dez reveals never-heard-before stories and the inner workings of his life and career.
Opening up about the dysfunctional relationship between him and former head coach Jason Garrett, the lack of locker room bond between teammates, the feeling of being set up to fail and his complicated bond with the Jones family, Dez talks about how playing for Dallas was a blessing and a curse in one.
Bryant says that he was never given a fair opportunity to learn or mature when he reached the NFL, and the media’s portrayals of him stemmed from preconceived ideas of who he was. Grateful for an unlikely mentor, Dez expressed gratitude for Entertainment mogul Jay Z for lifting him up and supporting him through the chaos.
In order to “X out the negativity,” Bryant became a three-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in touchdown receptions in 2014. While he may be remembered most for his infamous no-catch against the Green Bay Packers in 2015, he shines a light on the troubles of that season and the pivot he made to survive.
Talking about his childhood through his recent attempts to help the future of the game. Whether it was family, teammates, coaches, reporters or friends, Dez is candid about the relationships he cultivated over the years, remaining open and honest when it comes to misunderstood narratives.
Being raised in a different scenario of having a mother who was barely a teenager at his birth created a bumpy road for Dez early on, and with a complex bond to his father, Dez was often independent and trying to make it on his own. Football went from a simple game to his ticket to a new life, and with a mom or dad rarely in attendance, Dez had to self teach hard lessons while trying to find his way.
With a life full of adversity, Dez remains himself to this day, and being away from the game as a player has allowed for him to focus on helping others and supporting his family in ways he couldn’t be supported as a kid.

As a Cowboys fan I completely understand what Dez is saying how the media portrayed him and how the organization and league never helped push his story and always shown him in a negative light. The only people around here that knew the real Dez were the ones who actually went out of there way to learn about him. Much respect to the pivot for once again shining a light on the man behind the player.

I won't go into detail because I don't want the risk of being sued by him. I know a few ppl in the cowboys organization...But the Cowboys use retired players to MENTOR/ monitor the high value players every day and night. SO your monitors calling them at night to make sure they stay out of trouble....They even need to call them in the morning to wake them up to go to practice...Like little kids, for some of them. IN dallas, a lot of them engage in drinking, high speed driving, daily visits to the strip club.. In terms of notable cowboy players--one of them has been known to beat their own mom(fucked up shit right), called 911 and the recording..wink wink..They kept so much shit under the rug to allow him to play...That's why the cowboys can't win, they don't hold players accountable@@kelvintrell3347

Dez’s stepmom is a bad person who happens to be a woman. Not all women are bad, not all men are bad. Just as Dez expressed himself and allowed us in his personal experience to some degree, he stated he was different. He managed not to continue the cycle of dysfunction and give his children a chance.
Not everyone can do that, so they repeat, rehash, and regurgitate what they know…ergo his stepmom.
I’m not giving her a pass, I just know many people treat others how they’ve been treated, regardless if they are a man or woman.

I haven’t even came close to facing the trials and tribulations Dez has growing up but we’ve all been kids. When he read that note saying “don’t yell at your kids at night and expect them to sleep well. Don’t yell at them in the morning and expect them to have a good day…” hits home. Kids are very impressionable, and us as adults, the things that we may brush off or not care about may be the same things that stays in a kids’ mind for life and could affect their outlook growing up…

We need part 2!! I wanted them to really dive into that dynamic between him and Romo. As a cowboy fan It kinda baffled me when he said he wish it was more chemistry between him and Romo because growing up back then they were the most unstoppable duo I ever seen. And that 2014 year was the closest we have ever been to getting another superbowl. I’m surprised he even vouched for Dak because his career immediately went downhill once Dak got behind center. All them 5 yard dink and dunk passes weren’t doing anything for a receiver of his caliber and wholeheartedly believe they should’ve let romo take the reins back that 2016 year once we made the playoffs..

From Paul Warfield, Roy Green, Charlie Joiner, Roger Carr, Kenny Burrough double 00! through the modern era. Dez Bryant has been one of my all time favorites to watch play. I was excited when he came to the Ravens and the support he gave to Lamar. I love the way he played. That passion. Glad to see the young man maturing. Wishing but nothing for the best for the man!
