  • This move made Asha fall in love with skate dance. This clever, symmetrical sideways/diagonal set of steps link together so beautifully that you can dance a whole tune to just this sequence. It also looks incredible when 2 or more people do it together.
    This super quick mini tutorial gives you the feet positions and direction of roll so you can copy and repeat.

    Send me a video link of someone doing the move well and then I can help comment. Tell me exactly which part you want to do, (relating it to the video you send me). But this move is very very advanced and you will need lots of fluency in toe/toe moves like turning forwards and backwards and crossing and uncrossing legs etc. But I'm not sure I've seen grapevine on 2 toes all the time. Maybe on quads.

    Hi Haguy. Start always in a scissor position (one skate in front of the other) and then place back skate on toe wheel and then front skate on toe wheel. Point both feet like you doing ballet but keep a very small knee bend so your knees are not straight but slightly bent. Practice both sides with right and left skates in front. Also practice both these toe/toe position rolling backwards on both sides. This is your foundation of 4 positions.

    It's always a good idea to have the basics of any skill well practised before you try for something as difficult as Grapevine on toes. I think parallel skates on 2 toes is easier than other positions, but the 'walking' on 2 toes is very good strength building practice, so going from one scissor to the other on toes. For Grapevine on toes you need to have very flexible hips!

    A small circle on an inline skate is MUCH harder than on quads and will be easier if your inlines are rockered slightly. I suggest you train circles by practising them in toe roll position (stand on one skate and then allow the front wheel of the other skate to roll on the floor behind you, giving you additional support). From Toe Roll, you can then train large circles and make them smaller and smaller over time. When that's perfect you can remove the toe wheel and do it all on one foot.

    Then you can begin to learn to transition from toe/toe forwards to toe/toe backwards. You can also learn how to 'walk' on your toe/toes, which means changing from left foot forwards to right foot forwards while still on 2 toes. All these fill be the foundation skills you need to then develop further for more complicated slalom moves. I hope that helps. I will add this to the list of new videos to shoot for a future tutorial, OK? Good luck!

    I'm confused, sorry. I do speak Spanish but I haven't filmed any tutorials in Spanish yet. This is caled the New York Shuffle as that's the name of the move, nothing to do with where you are!

    All ICP certified instructors can be found on the inline certification program website. I can't put links in this text but google it. There is an 'instructor locator' which lists worldwide instructors. Where are you?

    There are two crossed positions in Grapevine, rolling forwards and rolling backwards. I'm not clear about which crossed position you are talking about. Also, are you trying to be on 2 toes for the WHOLE grapevine, is this your intention to learn? Or are you just saying that there is a moment of 2 toes in the grapevine move? You are being clear but slightly incomplete, which is normal becasue it's difficult to be really complete talking about skating with no reference (like a video).

    I'm sorry. It's really difficult to know exactly if we are talking about the same thing? I dont understand what you mean by "after I move back with cross back". It's so hard to write about skating so that everyone understands what is being said. V-ing will only make your skates roll out faster. You should practice all the combinations of being on 2 toes. Parallel with scissors forwards and backwards. Backwards crossed and parallel in scissor. Side surfs on toes and crossed side surfs.

  • @user-ft8lb1lc6g
    @user-ft8lb1lc6g Před 11 lety

    it means that i should not practise my self in grapevine by trying to go up on toes after the back cross, before i'am learning your basic skills... cause its more difficult to go up on toes when your legs are in a parallel or a v position???

  • @user-ft8lb1lc6g
    @user-ft8lb1lc6g Před 10 lety

    i am sorry i will explain my self again. there is a cross that brings you to the v position, in that moment i need to go up alittle bit on toes and lay or put my body forwards thats corect? that moment is critical because the momentum of the movement is throwing me a way( when i am trying to go up on toes)/ so i am asking about the to practise ? i realy try to explain my self... thanks

    OK CAN YOU GIVE ME A WAY TO PRACTISE IT GOING UP PARALLEL? BECAUSE AFTER I MOVE BACK WITH CROSS BACK , THERE IS A MOMENTUM THAT THROW ME BACK, AND THE MOMENT I AM TRYING TO GO UP ON TOES , I AM LOOSING THE BALANSE AND FOLLS MABY I SHOULD PRACTISE GOING UP ON TOES IN A V POSITION WITHOUT THE CROSS BACK? BUT I PREFER YOUR recommendation... THANKS FOR YOUR FITBACK!

    I would like to comment on this move. Thirty Two years ago I started these moves and it was always called Regular. This move is the first move in my Rollerdance series from 1981, and has changed names many times. I taught this Move to New Yorkers many years ago and to this day it is still popular worldwide. Visit my Rollerdanceman channel and you will see it a million times.

      Richard, what an honour to have you visit my channel and comment. I also see other skate moves having various names, it's most confusing! Different countries even call things different names, it's like chinese whispers. The regular is much less of a tongue twister when you are calling the names out in dance class. I shall revert back to it's original and proper name! I use your site for inspiration all the time, especially for interesting (non symetrical) dance routines. Mine are Virgoanly symetrical, but I'm learning still.

    I'm sorry, Id love to help but you need to be much more specific and even label which leg you are standing on (right or left) and in which direction you travel etc etc. Everything makes a difference to my reply.
