As a boater and occasional paddleboard fisherman, it is really amazing how ignorant people can be when fishing. It's really just common courtesy, especially if you have the luxury of a boat. That dude could have fished anywhere he wanted but chose to fish close to you guys on the jetty because he saw ya'll catching. What an absolute tool - you were completely in the right to call him out! Embarrassed for him. And the scuba guy?? Holy cow what a day you had testing your patience! Great videos as always.

I remember this one time I was Striper fishing in a tidal river. I was on this spot loaded with Schoolies and catching one after another. At one point I turned around and saw a shore fisherman had hiked what I knew to be at least .5 miles to the very spot I was fishing. I gave him a big wave, told him “this spot is loaded” and moved 100 yards away to another school.
He thanked me profusely and said “most people wouldn’t have left” I told him I’d like to think others would!
There is so much more real estate when you are on a boat, and if you have any experience at all on both sides, this is ALWAYS the right thing to do.
You are 100% in the right here man. Keep doing your thing!

I was casting but first boat went along the beach so close to the shoreline that it pissed everyone with bait fishing lines in the water right off. Then two morons came right up where I was casting in a small boat doing circles all over and setting up their gear, not even fishing yet. I mean come on...

I can honestly say I have been in all 3 of those situations!
The Florida DNR was correct. The diver is required to have a flag. And although diving alone is not illegal, it isn't safe. I have Scuba dove that jetty at St. Andrews State Park, a hundred times and its always different conditions. I have been hooked by anglers, numerous times. But, I think they were being A$$ holes and casting towards our group. If I had to surface, I will usually tell anglers where the big fish are stacked up!
While fishing, I have also accidently hooked a dive flag and bouy, as our lines just got crossed! I always give the divers the right of way, because they can't see where the anglers are on the jetty. And they pass by in a matter of minutes, not disrupting the fishing.
The boaters can just be a$$holes too! While they can fish the entire coast line, they choose to anchor out in your limited location. Thats just being a prick!
It looked like the conditions that day were perfect! For diving or fishing! 😊

Boaters were definitely at fault for the conflict. Usually, if the bite is on at certain spot people should ask for permission to fish nearby within reasonable distance. Even if several anglers are casting in the same direction as long as they are communicating and not being rude then everyone can have chance at hooking. Every fisherman has been on both ends of this where you might have the hot spot and on other occasions someone else does. Personally, If I am on a hot bite I don't mind people fishing near me as long as they are cordial and don't crowd me. Sometimes you need to give other anglers a chance as well because some of them that are just starting out and are still learning. That first hook up may mark the beginning of their passion for fishing just as we all have.

Those are some very valid points. Always 2 viewpoints of the same situation.

You just happened to have a few jerks come into your area. Glad that karma took care of the boat - fishermen. Thanks for sharing your day.

I've heard of Montauk fishermen switching to a sharpened lure meant to cut other people's line when they get crossed over too many times.

It shows you are a better fisherman than the boat guys. I am a boat fisherman but i would NEVER do what they did. Just me but i would have tangled their lines every time they threw in front of you !!!! But that’s just me you can’t fix stupid but you can give-em hell!!!!!!

I had commercial fishing boats pull up near my spot, and their onboard idiots would cast as us; so WE brought out the Wrist-Rockets (steel ball-bearings), and got on the radio to that boat, advise the captain we would start firing at the boat unless he busted the IDENTIFIED IDIOT. They didn't want us shooting, so they leave in a hurry.

I know a 3 or 4 oz sinker sure dings up gelcoat …….don’t bring your boat within casting distance

Dude this reminded me of the time I was fishing that canal in destin where there were a bunch of pogies schooled up and a damn charter boat drove right through all of them to where I was fishing. Never been so damn pissed in my life 🤬

As a boater I have been anchored up and and had shore or jetty guys walk up and fish on top of me with no one around, tangle me and not say a word. It works both ways but in the end the guy there first has the spot and a respectable distance should be observed by both parties especially if there are only 2 or 3 fishermen present. So if you jump on top of someone boat or shore....Game on. We gonna have words. The boat life of fishing is a different passion of fishing and that passion can turn it rage when both parties have prepared for that day in different ways. Love beach and jetty fishing but I love the boat fishing life too and mostly stick to that now. At the same time watching these shore and jetty fishing videos reminds me that I need to get back to it. Tight lines!!! no real drama there. I seen far worse to the point I'll rap a line in the wheel just to spool a D-bag that has no common sense and is a complete idiot because 150 to 300 yards of braid will fit nicely above my shaft seal and it only takes 20 minutes to clean it out lmao. On the other hand the pleasure boater that runs the beach as there are 6-7 people obviously fishing... thats gonna cost everyone. Had that too. so works both ways.
