      @lacrossetechnology  Před rokem +1

      We're sorry for not covering this in the video, but assuming you own our WS-9160U-IT model featured here, °F/°C is controlled by the 12/24 hour time setting within the main menu. When set to 12-hour, the temperatures will display in Fahrenheit; when set to 24-hour, you'll then see temps in degrees Celsius. Our apologies for any inconvenience. More info can be found in this item's full product manual and FAQ docs here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/ws-9160u-it#support

    I will buy nothing but La Crosse technology weather stations. I purchased another brand for our cabin but EVERY time we went out to it the batteries were dead in the unit. I replaced it last summer with a La Crosse technology weather station and we have accurate weather all the time now. The other units batteries died when the temperature dipped to 40 or so, but the La Crosse works when it's -40.

    Good video. You might note that if you choose 12 vs 24hr clock set, 12hr will get you Temps in Fahrenheit. If you choose 24hr, it will be displayed in Celsius. That's too bad, because in logistics, I use the 24hr system, but I read my Temps in Fahrenheit.

      Thanks Russ! We appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately, there is no changing this 12/24HR setting controlling the °F/°C readout on this original WS-9160U-IT model, it is how the item was designed. However, we do offer a large number of other weather station models that separate these two functions, including our Version 2 of this exact item: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/ws-9160uv2 -- Our apologies for the inconvenience. Just moving the sensor 6 feet away does not tell us the outdoor temp. We have kept our sensor outside out of the sun, and it's given us the correct temp. Why don't you discuss this in your video?

    There seems to be an odd cadence to the display of the signal icon. After connecting, we see a short - long (several seconds) - short pattern. It seems to me that previously the icon just displayed a single long interval. Is the receiver trying to tell us something?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 4 lety

      Hi Linda, sorry for the trouble! No, this is not normal. Batteries in our products should last at least a year or more before needing to be changed. If you've followed our restart steps in the later part of this video, and are using a new set of reputable alkaline batteries in both the sensor and display (other battery types should be avoided), you may need a replacement sensor. I bought the newer 9160Uv2 and although it still has the high and low temperatures like the old one. It just seems to show the historical high and low. So if my low was minus 10 degrees on Jan 10th, will that be it for the rest of the year heading into warmer weather? I want to be able to see overnight lows daily when I wake up living here in Maine. It's frustrating not knowing. Thank you.

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Gary, our apologies for the trouble, but we have some good news. Though you are correct in that the WS-9160Uv2's HIGH/LOW records will not reset on their own, these can be manually reset individually as many times as you wish. To do so, simply press the MIN/MAX button to view an individual high or low record, with it showing hold the MINUS (-) button until the value resets to the current reading. These will need to be cleared individually for each MIN/MAX record, which offers you the option of only clearing the record low temp during cold months and record high temp during warming months, or vis versa. If I put outdoor sensor in window, which way should it face, i.e., toward the outside or inside the room?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 4 lety

      Hey Louise, in this situation we'd recommend the sensor be facing outside. However, we do want to note that the sensor should be placed in a somewhat protected and 100% shaded location for the best results. Any direct or indirect sunlight may cause the temperature to read high. Our video here: bit.ly/th_sensor_mounting may be helpful.

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 3 lety

      Hey Joni, our sincere apologies for the trouble with your outdoor sensor. Our first suggestion would be to perform a basic restart, as covered in our instructions and other video here: bit.ly/basic_restart -- If this still doesn't work, a new sensor will likely be needed. These replacement sensors are projected to be back in stock mid to late January. And, if this was a recent gift, the product would almost certainly be covered under warranty, meaning this replacement sensor would be covered at no cost to you. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page (social media will likely be a bit faster this time of year).
