The owner of those boots will be watching and thinking.." He's making a fine job of them "....AS ALWAYS
A display case with your fathers last ,tools and a bit of history with some photographs would look good and show the history of your family in the shoe making /repairing industry.(cordwainers) would also be a nice tribute.Great job as always. 👍
And a nice tintype backdrop clollage of those tools and pics for your website, while dating it, will actually upgrade it. NICE CRAFTSMANSHIP.
Why do we do this, “frankly I dont know” 😂😂😂 classic steve! Always honest!
600 dollars for those shoes? Only after Steve does his magic can that price be justified. Well done, Steve.
I literally went "WWWAAAATTT??????".
Etro , high end fashion brand. Makes very goo quality clothing, they don't make a lot of shoes and I would imagine it's outsourced.
Go and try to buy the leather they used for that shoe. Let me know if the price is justified then. Then add the cost of skilled labor. On the other hand, a nike sneaker costs about $5 to make and they sell for $200. That's ridiculous.
I guess those chuka boots are not walmart specials .
This is next level customisation! 100$ shoe for a 400$ resole. The owner is a boss!
I wore something like that in the late 70's called dessert boots. Really Comfortable!!!!
Desert boots were a staple with school uniforms in Australia in the 70s. Those crepe soles were everything!
I wore them for years also, suede Wallabee boots
Fern Brisot Still popular now and expensive I may say. Late Anthony Bourdain always wore them.
Dessert boots are either sweet or they are only worn at the end of a meal.
I still wear them!
Keep sharing Steve's videos, folks. That will get him to 100K in no time. Very cool conversion. I have donated items on online groups before and they appear on ebay days later. Like you say, once they leave your hands, you have no control. It doesn't diminish your kind gesture though.
Steve you're truly a genius among every shoe cobbler
Glad you have an apprentice. There aren't enough craftsman in the world anymore.
Love the notion of a give-away for the 100K mark... however, may I suggest that instead of giving away a pair of shoes (since not everyone wears a given size), which would exclude many folks, rather, give away a discount on a job they send you and film the job? (Since you asked for input on the topic)
Amazing transformation from a flimsy looking boot, to something which can be worn with pride and confidence. If those were my boots, I think I'd've opted for a full leather mid-sole to be added to it for the additional structural support. But, I'm a big guy and think in terms of having things sturdy.
Saphir sells a product for suede/nubuck (aerosol) that conditions the leather. I've used that, as well as their aerosol waterproofing for the same materials. I like it, seems to serve me well. So, there is product available to the consumer on a retail level.
You should auction the Carmina shoes, pick a charity and donate the proceeds to them.
Charity in Lebnon
The Bedos last will be in a museum one day
Like the elegant oxford does- how about give them to a young man going on a job interview or someone returning from the military?
My mom always says that you give for yourself and what people do with what you give them isn’t your worry. Great video as usual, thanks for content.
Michael, so true. Its a gift. What the receiver does with it is none of your business. Its like multi millionaires . They set up trusts for their kids so they cant blow their inheritence in one year. Ruling from the grave its called here .
Such impeccable quality and care and always driven by doing your best for each customer regardless of the job. Love your love for the work you do! We need to get your channel to 100k soon..... Keep on doing what you do!
Boy, that changes the whole look of the shoe!
I guess you really know your trade...😂👍 bravo, once again you manged to save the shoe from embarrassment. 👍😂
Love to watch you work! You're a true Craftsman!
I dont always comment your videos, but watch them all and am amazed everytime. You do nice work and have amazing skills.
When I was a kid, back in the 70's that shoes were very popular, and we in my late homeland Yugoslavia called those "Sajmonice" (Simon's, after Paul Simon). I like your video, as always. 👍
Thank you for the video! Awesome as always, dear Steve!
Didn't think this would work...but I stand corrected! Great job!
Nice. Ready to relax and watch this video while I wind down. Love his videos.
In South Africa, they call that type of shoe, a 'Veldskoen'. But you have transformed it into a masterpiece.
Hi Steve 🙋🏿♀️. What can l say, another job well done ‼️. have A blessed Awesome Amazing Beautiful rest of your week ‼️💯💯💯💯💯💯♥️🙋🏿♀️.
Wow, just wow. Excellent as always Steve!!
My mother made me wear 'desert boots' as a kid. I despised 'desert boots' . I own a couple pair now and love them.
You are the best on this man. You make us very happy showing your work. Just keep going please, never give up. Cheers from Argentina
Thanks Steve. I really enjoyed this restoration.
My favourite shoes are a pair of brown Clarks (not very expensive, about £100) which are stitch down construction (I didn't know that until today thanks!) which I bought in 1997. I had them repaired around 2004 and the cobbler glued on Dainite heels and half soles which lasted a couple of years but then the glue peeled away and the upper also started coming unglued from the sole
I've kept them all these years as i just couldn't part with them but no local cobbler would touch them
I am SO grateful for your channel as watching your videos has finally enabled me to repair them and I just love wearing them again now!
I would have loved to have sent them to you for a masterful repair (or even a conversion like this) but I just couldn't afford it right now, maybe next time they need attention I will see if you can do something like this..
Anyway, I bought a small iron last on eBay, some Dainite Logger heels and half soles and some contact adhesive, however, after my first attempt the upper started coming away from the sole when I wore them; then I remembered one of your videos where you applied a layer of super glue to a plastic / vinyl sole which didn't provide a good glue surface so I took them apart, cleaned up & sanded the surfaces and applied superglue to the plastic / vinyl sole before re-gluing; this method has worked perfectly, they are solid and I finally have my favourite shoes back, all thanks to you!
fLaMePr0oF 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
fLaMePr0oF , when I left the US military in the 1980's I bought Clark shoes. My wife told me later that people in my East Harlem neighborhood NYC was laughing at my footware. Little did they know was that a man named Clark copyed his design from African fighters from the Sub continent who fought in World War II. The shoe covered the shin and calfs, Clark designed his copy as a Chucka boot and was popular footware for years. I being former military could appreciate a decent walking and hiking shoe.
Clark’s as in the Somerset (UK) brand?
flaMeProof....Clarks shoes are amazing quality! I bought a pair of vintage 60s Clarks Chelsea boots, Ive worn them to death, and they're still good! They're probably older than me.
@@Horizon301. Yup
I love your voices Steve; especially "the complainer" voice. It's hilarious! Never stop being you! Keep doing what you love and, loving what you do! Best regards, Steve. And Happy New Year!
Hi, Steve so much enjoy watching your videos, know nothing about shoes but love sewing it actually is what I do for a living, I watch every bag project you do with great attention beautiful the way you work the leather. Just wonderful. Stay safe
As good shoemaker is needed so much we need a good gobler who understands them and can love & care for them on our behalf. 🙏👌 Looking forward your shoemaking chapter to come. 👍💯
Your new saying, "Jus' Relax," was something my Mom would tell me all the time. Thank you for your patience and wisdom you share with us. 💚💛❤🤙
Beautiful conversion Steve 👍 the shoes look like brand new. Nice to see you have kept the original last your father used. Respect is worth more than money 😊
Stay safe and take care 👍
Steve ,this is beautiful work as always.I think it’s made the shoes look more dressy than casual now and much more serviceable too.It was nice that you shared the memory of your Dad.Its obvious you love him and you are very proud of him as well as being great fun for what he has taught you too.I do hope your son wants to also follow in your trade as it’s something that’s leaving the high streets as owners retire .People who spend a lot of money on shoes obviously want repairs rather than just go and find a new pair ,and obviously we all have that one pair we just love that are so comfortable..Such a joy to watch you work 😀
Heyhey new help in store 👍🏻,nice vlog thx for the learning and your time Steve 👍🏻❤️🥇🙏🏻see you next time.
Love the way you remember your father.
My late husband was into leatherworking designs as well as putting together pieces purses jackets just like some of the things you work on your work is amazing and I appreciate the hard work that I know it is take care of blessings and good health to you and your family peace out
One of the coolest jobs you've done so far!
You are a hoot. Ya gotta love what you do and have fun! We decide how our days are going to be: Good or bad. Yea? We leave our mark on the World, like you leave your aesthetic marks on shoes... Happy designs.
Great result, they look fantastic
I love your voices and kidding that you do! And I have learned so much watching your videos. Thank you for all you do. From your 74 yr. old viewer in WI👵🏻❤️
I love your videos keep up the great work and thanks for letting us be part of your work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Don't listen to the haters, you just keep doing what you're doing. I really enjoy watching your videos. I like the voices and the bitching. Lol. Very beautiful part where you showed your dad's last. It touched my heart. You do amazing work. Please don't retire and please keep making videos. Thank you.
Awesome work, you are a true craftsman!
Superb job as always Steve, great video! Thanks!!!
You just revealed how Etro should've constructed the footwear , in my eyes
I love when you mention your dad, Steve. Thanks for sharing that with us.
A Super restoration Steve, love your work, Forget 'bout it !! Keep the videos coming, alot of super knowledge. Awesome stuff !
I like what you're doing, keep it up. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Now that is a stunning job Steve.
That style, the desert boot, is one of the rare cases where I go with the cheaper option: Clarks. It's their most famous boot, and is a lot less expensive.
Give the Astorflex Greenflex a try
Love those. I go through a pair every 1-2 years unfortunately, but I love the look and they've got extra wide measurements. I like that the heels's not too big. I asked a cobbler if he could repair the sole once and he said you might as well buy a new pair.....seeing as I got them on amazon for $50...he was probably right!
I got an allen edmonds version from kickstarter which has a nicer last and very high quality suede that I highly recommend
@@WooliteMammoth ... Have a look to the red wing Weekender... It's very similar and fully resoleable
Those desert boots were k iwn as "veld skoen" in southern and central Africa. They were very popular in the 60s and 70s and according to my late husband, very comfortable.
However, in those days the colour was always a light beige brown. Almost a khaki colour.
Night and day difference beautiful job well done!
My dad is a retired optometrist and my sister and I were always the last to have current glasses. So, good for you-your boots look great!!!
Your workshop and you just done a fabulous job it’s far away from Australia otherwise I’ll send all my shoe for you to repair. Great happy worker great job
You made me smile on this rainy day in the Smoky Mts.!!😁🤟
Absolutely fantastic another great job xx
The "Bedo-Belly" and "Sneezes Always Come In 3's"...just the way of this wonderful world! You and your video's have become part of my weekend and I thank you for that. MUCH love and respect from the UK 👍
Great job, Steve!! Congrats from Brazil!
@50K subs you said you don't know what that means, now nearly 💯, it means we all like your workmanship , it's not as common for people to take pride in their work and to genuinely care as it once was, I think you already did a history of the business video man that would've been a great 💯 K video.
I think customizing a Hammer for the 100k special would be awesome. HAMMER TIME
You're right, anything is possible. Great work as always Steve!
You're looking Sharp! Way to go.
This is beautifully done. My favorite part is when you were talking about your dad's tools. God bless you and yours.
They turned out stunning
Steve, that there man is superb! Going out sharper than when it came in! Excellent work!!!
To put in automotive terms what you just did is a Restomod and an outstanding one at that!👍👍
Forgot to mention in my other comment, my local shoemaker watches you (he’s about 75yrs old) and he loves the work that you do. He said that you were taught very well. That’s a great compliment to your dad, God test his soul. 👍😃😎
With what is going on in the world at the moment it’s good for some light hearted ness in dealing with our day to day lives. And for those that don’t like it no one is making them watch it. From me in Victoria Australia where we are in lockdown don’t change Steve you are a great you tuber. 👍👍🎉👏👏👏😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahahahahaha!!! Crack me up dude! I was pissed when I sat down to this. Appreciate the knowledge, love the laughter!
Amazing craftsmanship!!
Beautiful work love watching your videos.
Fancy hair, fancy clean shoes and a fancy shirt! Someone is getting all smart for the 100K. TRULY amazing channel, I never really understood what cobblers actually do, but damn you make it so freaking interesting.
Your glue pot looks like something out of the set of Alien. Ridley Scott would approve.
I don’t know how or why I started watching, but I have been for about a year. Great channel.
The boots came out beautiful. I didn’t think I was going to like them at first, but they are WAY better looking with the heel.. awesome!!
Always Great content ... I’ve been kinda binge watching every chance I get 👍🏾
Really impressed with that refurb...nice job!!!
Love your video, its great to see someone doing this work with a light hearted nature, I am a shoe/boot maker myself and will continue to follow your channel, keep up the great work.
Christian
The shoes always turn out much better than I initially expect. Dude's a superstar.
Beautiful job as always!!
It impresses me how casual you are about freehanding cuts and adding designs. One slip and the project becomes seriously messed up, but you don't hesitate at all.
This shoe is looking a lot better now, in fact it is looking classy now. Great job Steve.
Another beautiful job. Don't underestimate the value of someone being able to say, "Bedo did these for me"!
wow !!!! this is now a very nice looking shoes !!!! great job !!!! bravo maestro !!!!
I remember using that shoes in the late 70^s and i did find a pair last year. I always remember that shoes, maybe because it was the first shoes i buy on my own. It is always very interesting to see your videos. See how different shoes and boots are build , and how they last in a time. I wish you and your members all the best, and hope the Corona is soon over, so we can start been safe , and have the possibilities to travel again and look at all the strange and interesting things that is on this earth, Best wishes from Jan in Norway
Another brilliant job Steve
Maybe Q&A as you hit 100K, or maybe a tour of your shop with stories about tools you use and what they are for. You also could pick the nicest comment and redo their shoe with the viewwer doing a vid about when they receive their shoes back? Relaxes me watching your vids. Shame you live in US I would volunteer just to lear to repair my own shoes , lol.
You have tremendous knowledge of what you do.
Wow! What a huge difference in aesthetic! Much more of a classy/dress look than the original!
I love this channel... I'm addicted
It's cool you still have your dads tools. I remember when most shoes were made with leather. I'm not seeing that too often now.
Wow...What a difference it made. Awesome
Love you talking through the process...it's important to know all this stuff. I'm beginning to see why a shoe costs a price depending on things in its making. Cheers
Great job..as usual..they do look better than before..
COOL SHIRT, Steve! Excellent restructuring, too.
BEDO'S! Come for the shoes, stay for the voices! And... HAMMERTIME!
Hey my man, congrats from Miami, I am a American Romanian guy, you know or maybe your dad(God rest his soul in peace) he used to knows ,Romania and Lebanon have a long history of friendship, for the last year I've been watching you and I really enjoy it, maybe one day I have the chance to meet you, for me you are number one for real. If I made some mistake in writing English is not my first language
STUNNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
100% improvement, nice work.
PLEASE keep talking we love it!!!!!!!!!!
Mighty fine work your doing. It'll last for years to come.
