Steve, thanks again for taking on this project for me. You hit it out of the park! You know I’m happy!!!
That’s a fantastic Cobra btw. Keep it up!
"i don't have Alzheimer's, or the other one.... I can't remember what the other one was..." I'm dying over here i really do hope that was intentional ;D
Yeah, i hit the replay button like wtf? Lmao.
I may have Alzheimer’s, but at least I don’t have Alzheimer’s! 😂
I thought exactly the same, that was priceless.
I just suffer from memory loss 😁 it’s just your advancing years Steve. I have the same problem 😇
Alan Jenkinson “old timers” disease. 😁
Very prophetic words you spoke during the video, because in just 3 short months after this video I lost my high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years to the virus, and things will indeed never be the same.
It’s just over 18 months since you put this video up and your wisdom about personal care and sanitation during this pandemic could not be more profound! Thank You
Another excellent video. The public announcement about reaching out to our local cobbler at the end was pure class.
Steve, this was a true masterclass, and I can't thank you enough for sharing your craft with us. It's very cool to see people whose channels I love to watch collaborating with each other. Thanks also for using your platform to advocate for local small businesses, as that's the backbone of our economy and communities. Finally, stay safe!
C'mon, we've all seen Crocodile Dundee!
Michael Sunday lol i came here to write this😄
He was joking.
Here's a mind trip - it came out 35 years ago.
Argh... watching you open up a beautiful new pair of these shoes almost made me cry. But you’re such an artist. Take a day off and get your self a manicure. Hands as magical as yours deserve it.
Although I’m not a fan of the Strands with that new sole on them, the actual skill and craftsmanship of this resole is OFF THE CHARTS! The quality of that new sole is astounding
I have to agree in that it’s like putting 20s on a Volkswagen beetle. But I can never emphasize enough how precious Stiev’s work is. Pretty soon I’m going to have him do a job for me and after it’s done, I just cannot see myself putting the shoe back on the ground. However, it is a pair of shoes that are sentimental to me and I really don’t wear them anymore anyway , they are shelf shoes /show pieces so I do think that Stiev can enhance them in that way.
It’s been hard staying at home, but this video makes it a little more bearable. Btw, I prefer no music.
You know.. we can always turn on another CZcams playlist and let it run in the background while you work.. Smooth Jazz is my daily go to. :) And as far as nervous while you cut, I've watched you cut a zillion things with your shaky hands and you never cut yourself, and the cuts are perfect! I especially enjoy watching you do the cut to lift the leather on the soles for the hidden stitching. Let's continue..
I love how enthused you're about your work. You've obviously doing it for a very long time and you're an absolute master at what you do, but to have the same passion and enthusiasm about your work years later is respect worthy.
Steve, You can’t pay any mind to the negative comments. People are miserable and misery loves company. Love your videos and your profession. Keep it up boss.
I bet he cries a lot...
Love your concern for your fellow cobblers and people in general. All the best to you and your family.
Cheers
I've done my share of Leatherwork. Mostly holsters, sheaths, cases and custom watch bands. I can tell you that it takes some skills to use a utility knife on leather. You have the touch. Most people may not understand. The way you opened up that edge for a blind perfectly even perfect depth. With a utility knife. That's the magic touch.
Steve: you are a craftsman, an artist, and an American treasure.
You elevated one of my favorite shoes to the next level! WOW!
Im about to contract this guy!
Steve. My Brother nice to see you again. We need your video now more than ever. With this cuarantine your videos are a blessing.
Thank you for putting out these videos Steve! You're making this quarantine more livable. I absolutely love the Spade soles! Be safe.
Man, you are a jedi. I was literally thinking about spade soles yesterday and was wondering if anyone's ever asked Bedo to make them.
They need to make a comeback!
What amazes me is that in this day and age nobody has taken it up, especially with the growing popularity of vintage dress shoes with men of my generation (i.e. Gen Y/Millennials). Even if they aren't as popular as other styles they should still be available as an option.
These are not the soles you’re looking for... move along...
Thanks Steve, you did an amazing job on these shoes, I’m sure Preston will be delighted.
You mentioned reaching out to local cobblers. I wish I could. We had a magnificent cobbler and shoemaker where I live right until her retired when I was around 25. No one took his place. The nearest we have now is a chain “cobbler” who only does soles and heels, cuts keys, engraves cups and trophies that they sell etc etc. I miss our cobbler who was a genuine craftsman. He used to make surgical shoes as they were called back then. I guess these were to accommodate leg calipers for folks that had had polio or who had leg length discrepancies.
I’ve rambled. Please keep safe and well along with your family, friends, customers and whoever else. It’s scary times. Xxx
With regard to the surgical shoes I'm sure he was a lifesaver for residents in your area, while it was possible to petition the "March of Dimes" and its later iterations to cover the cost of leg calipers, the parent in almost all cases had to provide the shoes, which being fully bespoke ran to sometimes a hundred dollars a pair in the fifties and sixties. Having somebody local be able to make them and have several fitting sessions to fit them properly may well have made a difference to the progress of a child in the rehabilitation process. I can see a lot of joy in being a cobbler/shoemaker under those conditions, being able to make a big difference in the life of kids afflicted with polio. Polio in the 40's into the 60's affected so many and so little was known that they couldn't prevent it, over two generations tens of thousands of kids fell to it, most making some sort of recovery, but always with significant
future challenges.
I have a friend who unfortunately contracted polio as a small child in the mid west in the late 40's, and life was every kind of bad for her. People were scared of polio, and by extension her, and she got treated badly by children and adults alike, for a significant portion of her life. She's easily the coolest, most resourceful and inspirational friend I have though, she's overcome a lot but still managed to carve out her niche in life. I worked with a dude who contracted Polio in the 60's in Kenya too, but although he had a withered leg unless you knew you probably wouldnt have noticed, he walked fast and wihout a stick, just a slight antalgic gait. Demonstrates in part just how much more effective rehabilitation and treatment had evolved over those 20 some years, although there's always variation. Both had dozens of childhood surgeries, but Lauren ended up on sticks for life, Imi eventually improved to a point in his rehabilitation where they weren't necessary anymore.
I’m not sure how I stumbled upon your videos, however I’m hooked. Your a true craftsman. Hello from Australia
Even with new shoes the before and after is amazing. This shoes turned out quite nice !
Bedo... From Argentina...you are an amazing footwear artisan... my grandfather was a shoemaker too and I enjoy watching your videos...Congrats!!
Steve, You are 1 heck of a amazing cobbler. I love the sense of humor. I love that you really make people feel like they are part of your community. Even though I could never afford the shoes you work on. Keep up the amazing work. And most importantly thanks for sharing your amazing craft with us.
I haven’t finished watching, and yet I already love it. The collaboration is really cool! ...and the Cobra....sick!
i am still sick from that "cobra" and I didn't even know it was a COBRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A-MA-ZING!!!! thank you Mr. Dennis !
I can just picture the pure joy on Zeus's face riding in a convertible with the wind in his face! 🤣🐶🔥💨 Sign: Slow down, corner. Steve: hits the accelerator
When I saw that shine, I knew it had to be an enthusiast.
Nice Cobra, Steve. Thanks for posting the video. I love your work. I don't care if your hands shake or your knees knock or you forget to "hammer time" in your video. People need to take care of their own business instead of constantly asking you about the same thing. Comments left like that are very personal and you should ignore comments like those. Stay strong, healthy, and safe.
Loved the car and city tour. Thank you Steve.
I love your town and shop. Cool seeing the ride in. Thanks.
I love the spade sole but I really really like the higher heel on the 1st one. It would make a man stand straighter! I love what you do. It makes me want to be a cobbler. I also love your friend from "The Elegant Oxford". It amazes me what you guys can do. It's like magic!
Excellent craftsmanship! Beautiful!
Thanks for another awesome video and a trip out in your car 🚙, watching you keeps us sane as we are in lockdown Reading England 🏴, but hey ho, we will get there, so Steve best wishes to you and your family keep safe, wash your Hands 😂 looking forward to the next video xx
Love the shoes, love the car, love the sentiment at the end. We are supporting the businesses that we use all the time as much as we can to get them through this. Everyone who can help should consider it. Take care and be safe. Regards, Solomon
Another one!!! You are more than a shoe cobbler, you are a master craftsman Steve!!
Awesome car. Enjoyed the virtual ride. Excellent job with the shoes, as always . Gracias!
You’re a ray of light, Steve. Never change!
Great to see a skilled craftsman doing what they love. Thanks for your content.
My dad had an MG convertible
(late 1950s model) and this brought back lovely memories. Thank you. 😊
Your shop is sitting on a realestate gold mine.
Hope it not heritage listed.
Love your honesty in pointing out some imperfections in your job. This shows the intrinsic character of your integrity.
I know where I'll be sending my shoes in the future.
Thumbs up from Syd Australia great job as always.

Good advice. I've taken a few shoes to my local guy since the shut down.
I'm a first time viewer, it was a delight to watch you work. 👍
You sir are definitely a master at your craft thanks for sharing your work and your beautiful car..
A work of art Steve...👍
Great work - beautiful shoes being made more beautiful! Congratulations. You mentioned local cobblers - I’m in the UK, and my wife and I are making sure to use our local cobbler, a great guy who does fantastic work.
Wow. Steve fixed the one reason I won’t wear AE’s...those heinous factory blob heels. Bravo!
The '70's SWAT theme at 10:16! Spelling Goldberg Productions is on line 2. Seriously, besides you being an amazing craftsman, I'd bring my shoes to you just for knowing that theme, LOL. Who needs smooth jazz!
Another very good one Steve with Hammer Time ... Lol ... Nice ride also ...
Steve, be safe, I love the car. Thanks for the drive at the end. Man the shoes look so cool. I've never herd of a "spade sole" interesting. Great looking finish. I pray all goes well in these times for you and the Family..

I;m new in thge shoe repair business and your videos are very informative for me. Glad I found you.
Sick ride, Steve! When you spoke about your shop at first being almost it's own on that street and it's now been built around since, I wasn't quite expecting massive rising buildings everywhere around it. Gosh.
Steve, great work as always! I do enjoy Preston’s work as well! It’s good to see people in this craft that go above and beyond! P.S. sweet car! Enjoyed the ride! Be safe!
Hi Steve, great interesting and creative video and extremely cool car👍glad to see you are safe and healthy. 👍Take good care of you and yours. 👍Love from the UK👍

Connection between two of my favorite channels, nice 👍
The shoes turned out great but the highlight for me was the beautiful lady you own. I smiled so big when I saw it and the sound oh such a happy sound to me! My dad used to run and auto restoration shop out of our home. My mom always tells me that when I was a baby and didnt want to sleep they would drive me around in my dad 79 455 firebird. So I have a great love for cars!
