Malcolm Island, spontaneous stop, Coho Joe's Cafe

Sometimes the best part of travelling solo is being able to make a change and take that turn on to a different road. After trying to find camp sites for the May long weekend from Campbell River down to be fully booked, I followed a suggestion from a fellow on the ferry to Gabriola.
Go to Malcolm Island and stop at Coho Joe's Cafe, he said. He couldn't have been more right.

Awesome!! I’ve been to Port McNeill, did a dog & house sitting gig at a place on the beach. And afterwards went over to Alert Bay to visit an Elder, who gave us a tour around the island. I’ve heard about Sointula but have only seen it from the Alert Bay ferry. I hear it’s beautiful up in Port Hardy, and Port Alice too.

There is so much to see, I’m glad all the campgrounds were booked up for the May long weekend, otherwise I might not have gone.
