- I take a 4 day trip to the North West point of Vancouver Island (Grant Bay, Holberg, Winter Harbour and Schoen lake) , and camp in my Subaru Outback Wilderness with my dog Tilda.
Plus: bears, camp recipes, epic views and a secret campsite!
I watch a lot of these kinds of videos (I live on Vancouver island and love exploring), and I just wanted to comment and say that I really appreciate your delivery and conversational tone. You make it interesting without being all hype-y about it, and it makes me want to watch the whole video rather than just skip around. Great job, thanks for letting us come along on your trip, and please keep it up!
it's giving back country mr rogers, and i'm here for it
I agree, great video and my ADHD mind stayed interested all the way through it. :)
Cool video! I’m a Vancouver Islander, born and raised here and it’s always neat to see how tourists view our home. One tip though, from Ucluelet North keep that doggo close. So many off leash dogs get taken by the wolves. They hide right on the shoreline and take them. Had it happen to many of my friends and it’s tragic.
Fantastic post-production work. I loved the music. This video got me all nostalgic about my trip out to Vancouver Island two months ago. As an Ontarian, I will always be awestruck at how much raw natural beauty there is in BC. You guys are extremely blessed to be around the Coastal Mountains and the Pacific. Nature is truly some of the best medicine.
Nice video. But I guarantee that the "most remote place on VI" is not accessible by car!
I agree......and I'm not mentioning where it is and how to get there

You have great taste in music. Thanks for sharing your journey, look forward to the next video!
I am so fortunate to be living on Vancouver Island. This vid shows some of her beauty. If any of your viewers now visit, please be ecologically aware and protect the earth from fire and garbage!
Lol. Fires are a natural part of nature. You've been lied to and brainwashed like most others.
Beautiful cinematography! Thank you for sharing your fantastic trip with us.
Dude you hit the jackpot with that lookout! Great video and the drone shots are unreal!
You took the easy route and missed so much , Gold river to Port Alice thru the Nimpkish valley is much more entertaining, drive to Tahsis is interesting and a walk thru the Carmanah Walbran valley will send you back in time 😮
We've driven from Gold River to I think it was Tahsis? Along a terrifying logging road which was much in use by logging lorries! We also drove from Port Hardy to Port Alice. We live on the Saanich Peninsula.
@ForceFreeTrainergirl06 Tahsis is the butt hole of Vancouver Island 😅 terrible road to get there and there is nothing really to see or do 🙄
@@ForceFreeTrainergirl06and you didn’t come visit me lol. Joking😅
Sad to see the lack of BIG old growth trees (mostly gone now), and so much clear cut, but a very nice job on the video! Well done!
gotta love the views the drone provides :)
As a born and raised local I always find it terrifying when mainlanders adervtise beatiful, wild spots on the island. Keep it secret, keep it safe 😢
Thank you for taking this Island gal on a new adventure... I've been out that way before... Just never got to see it at the angles you showcased... Nicely done...
The food at the Ibis is terrific (so is the beer). The North Island is an amazing and unique place.
Great camping setup you have, so easy 😊 Really nice video.
This is the first time for me on your channel, the vid came as CZcams Recommended. I am so glad it did because this is a great video! I have been to Vancouver Island in 2019 but only went from Victoria to Qualicum Beach, I never went as far North as you did. I said to myself next time I go there I will hit the tip of the North end. I love the camp sites you found and your dog is the BEST companion. Stunning scenery and you have skills in getting the right camera angles and shots. Your dog is absolutely adorable and so dang cute just chilling out inside your vehicle beside your sleeping spot lol. It was great to see your dog go off the lead and run around on the sandy beach having so much fun.
Great video. Next time you must go to San Josef Bay. I used to live in Port Hardy and will be visiting in 2 weeks. So many hidden and off road treasures to explore up there. Loved the video. Beautiful dog!
9:40 i've lived on vancouver island most of my life, and i'd venture to guess that 99.9% of residents haven't been up to that corner of the island before. i've been up to port hardy but never the northwest side. the high up view where you can see the curve of the island in the distance is stunning.
i hope you truly enjoyed your time on Vancouver island ive been very blessed to be born and raised here
I’m South Island and used to travel up to Holberg often. This video reminds me I should make another trip.
Yes. You should. Come for a meal at the ibis 👍
Lived on the island my whole life, family has been in forestry here for 3 generations. Those trees would be considered “Old” second growth, somewhere between 60 and one hundred years. Likely 6-80 years old . 😉
Man, I can't believe you went on those roads with your vehicle! You could have been stranded in the middle of nowhere. But you made it and it looks like you and the dog had a great time! Thanks for showing us what the island looks like way up in that area. I suggest next you do a trip to Pachena Bay. It's supposed to be stunning.
Lived around the north island for most of my life.Really enjoy watching these videos thank you
Now this is the type of video I can relate to, honest down to earth friendly and interesting, plus a dog which is important lol.
A road trip that the wife suggested we do, she might be onto something 🤔
Nice job mate
The. Human. Traveler We appreciate your content
I love the northern tip and west coast of the Island, I visited San Josef Bay 3 years ago and that area is still to this day only of my favourite places ever! I think I know where that lookout where you camped is, amazing place!
This guy does this travels is utilizing modern day technology to share his adventures in the factory. Pretty damn cool get the ability to mix different music montage. Yes. 👍🏼
Thank you! Great video. Made me smile remembering growing up in Winter Harbour. Love the soundtrack. :)
born and raised in Nanaimo, cool video!
Nice one! Lets me know I need to plan a trip up Island to see everything that I'm missing😁
Great video😀
I’m soooo jealous … I was born in the lower mainland … loved taking the ferry over to the island as a kid …Having lunch with my parents on board … Fond memories 🤔🇨🇦👍
Great video..great scenery…great music…perfect…
Love the cooking part, short and sweet and looks yummy! Great vid!😎
Nice! I’ve visited some of these places and you’ve given me some ideas for next time I venture that way! Thanks for sharing!!
Excellent video! Very nicely done. I live in Victoria and have never ventured that far north. Love your dog!
Great work on this! Thanks! P.S. Awesome Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” music clip at 6:20! The movie about the British kids becoming Springsteen fans is a fun watch.
Time to do some homework Chris. These are definitely not the most remote places accessible by car on Vancouver Island, as next month they will see a steady stream of camping traffic. But as a Vancouver Islander, I will not list the most remote spots, as videos like your put an end to a campsites remoteness!! Enjoy your remote camping!
My thoughts as well. ❤
TILDAAAA!!! :) :). beautiful view up that logging road near the north most point!
Nice set up! That sleep in your car vibe is awesome when you're in bear country.
I laughed watching the outro and it showing the ferry pulling up to the island and not departing haha
Hi Chris. Nice to see a new face on here. Great scenery. Keep 'em coming 🙂
Nice job. You got yourself a subscriber.
Never actually seen the north-most point of Van-Isle - even on camera. Also: golden curry for the win!
Just found your channel , good ish . Your dog is hilarious 😅 with out trying
Love the shots, Carbon and Mira gave it a 5/5 rating
Cool! Stop by and say Hi next time
Just did this trip (Ladysmith to Port Hardy) and it's a great drive. Need to get an old banger so I can get on the logging roads though!
Nice video and great soundtrack!!
Great photography.. thx.
Thank you great video
Wow it's so fun to see others have found the edge of the Earth. My son and I spent a couple of days up on that clear cut.
There is cell service up there Too! We streamed movies and kept in touch with family.
Most remote, yet not.
This looks so cool, wish I discovered my province more ❤
New subscriber here... love your stuff!!
Hey Chrispy, Subscribed!
Loved this Vid. Thank-you :)))
Really enjoyed this very chill exploration. The drone work really complimented your video. Do you plan to make more of these?
We have driven to Port Hardy and then to telegraph cove where we did a fabulous whale watching trip. We then went to Port Alice. We also drove from Gold River to I think "Tahsis" along a still busy logging road, which was terrifying and of course the logging lorries don't stop for anyone and there were not too many passing places!
9:25 gorgeous view!
P.S. I was born here on Vancouver Island. I lived on the mainland for years and moved back in ‘97. I love it here!
Well produced video, in all aspects. You got the recipe.
Amazing plateau spot and drone footage, editing and music. Thanks for taking us along. Always wanted to do this trip as my dad worked logging in port hardy when he arrived in Canada. How are you taking drone footage while you're driving lol
curious ...do you hv alternative during the fire-ban? kicked in today july 10:ps great vids: lived in Bull Harbour and traveled the Island before the hwy was paved: brought back great memories of the 'real' Van. Island esp Holberg where the radio 'gals' used to patch our calls to civilization. cheers
Aww you missed the BEST beach!! san Yosef bay!! You should come back to check out that beautiful beach!! Make sure you visit with the tide out!!
San ’Josef’
So beautiful and no people my favorite places.😊 Grant Bay garbage dump really a bummer! Slobs and no respect for nature. Pack it in and pack it out!
Hey friend! I love this video, thanks for sharing! I just started my channel as well! I wish you great adventures!
great drive (music is a bit loud) very cool...... hope you brought a chain saw - just in case one of the forest people pushes a tree across the trail/road.
very interesting point. I was thinking about forest people the whole time.
I grew up in Port Alice, which has less than a third the population of when I lived there. I could live rent free in my mom's abandoned townhouse but there are no jobs. I would have to be on welfare. I live in Quebec City.
Damn. I missed you. I live on the north end of the island!
I've been to a place way more remote than this...the tip of Brooke's peninsula. 50 km from the nearest logging road! Accessed by kayak.
Malicous Beavers
is your last name Bacon?
I came here to ask the same question
Channel is Chris P.
He looks kinda like Chris Bacon, be he isn’t him. I haven’t seen that dude in a while, I hope he’s good.
@@Autistic_Internet_Slap_FightsI was thinking it was Sugar, Chris P.
This is even funnier if you know that a group of high up gang members around here have the last name Bacon 😂💀
well done very nice
very well done... great video work. Just a point of interest.. I fly (usually helicopter) over the island all the time in the VR world... a flight simulator is a great way to find those hidden logging roads into lakes you didn't know existed... anywhere in the world at any elevation. thanks for sharing your trip.
I just caught your video on CZcams. I just wanted to say hi and let you know I grew up in Holberg and we called the Scarlet Ibis the purple bird. You missed the best part Sam Jo Bay it’s the best beach on the island.
Welcome to Vancougar Island!
Holy smokes!!!
Really nice vid , love the drone footage , great tunes . Damn , I've gotta
go to these places on the island I live on .
Thanks
Your doggo is soo cute what breed is it. ?? Came across you on my for you page. Love the video
Grant Bay is a beautiful spot...
Want to be there 😊😊
as remote as it may be its NO LONGER wilderness confirmed by your handy drone, all the towns and villages, official camp grounds, piles of garbage and free wood not to mention the gigantic clear cuts you camp in the middle of. you seem like
a nice guy though and don't hype yourself...which is refreshing. thanks for the views.
Good video, very enjoyable. Know this area quite well.
Who operated the drone when you were driving….your pooch?
Drones can be set to automatically follow the vehicle using GPS settings
The Ibis! When did they add the adventure huts?
Vancouver Island is my home.
Stay cool man.
A trip a lot of us have thought about doing
🔥
there are more remote places on the Island, but they are very difficult to access.
Do you use a head camera (Go Pro)?
Did you bring your big foot costume ? 😂😂😂
your break pads are not covering enough of the rotor, what model and year is the car? Also... video so laggy hurts my eyes
Holberg is only 50kms from hardy so what were you 100kms away from?
i just wanna say that the old growth spruce you seen is infact not a old growth . it would be way bigger if it was old growth . looks like second growth or whatever its called
Im terrified of Van Island, too many people go missing
Huh? What? Give the Dets
At rimes you pan to fast. Great trip.
I was born and raised on Vancouver island and can't afford to live there, the people who bought homes there from other parts of Canada need to go back to where they came from so i can go home
I feel your pain on that one. Never saw it coming either….
Is there any people on the island?? Lol
You can see the forest C c
You look like regular phil
Top of Golden Hinde or Brooks peninsula would be more remote, you're not going to drive there.
Dog?
