Custom singing fish knockoff

I painted this a few months ago, but it really looks more like spider webs than wood grain lol. I may eventually paint it differently. I have also made the pitch higher using a variable resistor, like seen in this video: • Shorts

Why didn't you sand the nameplate down before painting it gold?
