Found this at a flea market for $20, I think that was a good deal considering what they usually go for. This thing looks really good almost like it’s a prototype design of Max Mallard. I’m not a fan of the programming with the head moving back and forth so much and it’s really distorted, I’m not sure what Gemmy was thinking with that. As you can see the neck forward/backward and the tail are splitting, I’m probably not going to fix it as these seem to be a pain to repair. Or correct me if I’m wrong.

Gemmy Dancing Douglas Fir

Found this on eBay for $6 $11 shipping. I’ve been hoping to find this version at a thrift store, but had no luck. This is definitely my favorite Douglas Fir out of all of them mostly because of the jingle bell rock recording. It only needed a new motor shaft gear for the eyes and mouth and now to fully works, besides a little clicking.

I have modified it with a Billy Bass speaker because the original one sounded terrible. I was originally going to connect them to an amplified speaker, but it made a hissing sound that I wasn’t comfortable with. Otherwise, this item is pretty cool, but it would be much better with the full Monster Mash recording.

I found this at Goodwill for $4. Unfortunately the plastic behind the mouth somehow broke off, and that’s why it doesn’t move very good. It’s pretty cool that it has Billy Bones audio except it being cut a bit differently. I feel that phrases would fit this item much better though.

If you are unaware, Wesley purchased a big bunch of jiada fish from Egypt. It included 3 of each of the following: Bass, Alligator, Swordfish and Shark, all with the box. I never ended up taking it apart because the mouth started moving when I held the head back once. I’m going to leave it alone until the wire completely falls off. Thanks for watching!

This is what’s left from the custom I made out of the Louie Wesley sent me. I put a voice module in it and made it play The Honmeister’s amazing recreation of Splish Splash. I used to collect singing fish when I was younger! I still have some. I’m married and have a kid now (sheesh) but the fish bring back good memories. For a time I grew out of them and kept them away in the closet but man getting married and inevitably getting older these lil guys bring back memories of simpler times for me. I still have a wonder singing and dancing rainbow fish, a rocking fish trout version, a largemouth Lou - and of course the OG Billy Bass. Sadly my Largemouth Lou doesn’t work the way it used to. I’d pay to have it restored with a new mech to keep those memories alive. Any way to make it possible by chance? The only fish I have that still works great is the Wonder Singing Dancing Rainbow fish. Eventually will likely hang up the fish in random places in my house 😂
