  • The vinyl wrapping continues on the van, I show you what I’ve done to date and do a bit more on the back end.

Got to be worth a try. 1500 for a half wrap means I can learn that for 1500

Great video, I'm thinking of having a crack at this with my T6. Some invaluable advice here.

Well done for your patience 👏 I think if I was doing it I would just have the bottom half done. Think they look cool that way. Nice work though 👏 😊

How many meters of vinyl did it take to wrap the van mate?

Great job, how is the wrap holding up? Just about to wrap mine, any advice? 😂

Looking good! How much wrap did you order?

    • @retromechanic2238

Hey! Thanks for watching & commenting. I ordered a total of 35M (1.5m roll) which enabled me to mess up a fair bit. I should just have enough to finish the van. Wastage is about 6/7M - I don’t doubt a professional could do it in 20M to 25M with subtle joins of off cuts for various parts.

Looks really good, you clearly have a lot of patience! Could I ask where you sourced your facelift parts from, if they are none genuine, how was the fit ?

@@ianwilcoxson1579 thanks for watching & commenting! I (by pure luck) managed to source the 5.1 front end from Facebook Marketplace; all genuine parts.
The lower spoiler & splitter I managed to also source from Facebook; these were previously fitted to another vehicle so any subtle cutting / shaping of the edges was already done - fits perfectly 🙏
Managed to get the whole conversion for around £600 but was a waiting game!

Me again 🤦🏼‍♂️ 😂 did you smooth the grain out of the bumpers or just put the vinyl straight on after a good clean cheers

      Hey Liam 👋
I just washed the bumpers BUT I would be inclined to rub down them next time for better adhesion.
It’s stuck but I’d imagine it would stick to a smoother bumper better - so might last even longer?

Can I ask why you didn't use soapy water? Good job though.

Brilliant job, which front bumper did you buy?

    • @retromechanic2238
      @retromechanic2238  Před 10 měsíci +1

Hey VinneTheVanno, a second hand “genuine” VW 5.1 front bumper with added spoiler & splitter on which gives it that greater depth & “meanness” 😁
