  • Usher was on hand to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, shortly after an all-star tribute to the singer from Childish Gambino, Victoria Monét, Coco Jones and many more. He began his speech by remarking that he had not prepared any words to share, but that he “likes to talk.” From there, he began swearing, and the audio cut out for almost four minutes of the 13-minute speech.

    FAQ:
Who are you and what is your name?
My name is My View My Opinion (MVMO) & I am a Podcaster, on CZcams. Due to safety concerns on the internet, I do not share my personal information anymore and I ask that others respect this. Also, I'm against the cult of personality & the promotion of self. I have no desire to "make a name" for myself. That's odd in this day & time I know, because most strive for this. Too many folks make themselves the center of attention instead of helping others first & allowing the information they share to be the focus of folks attention. Many crave applause, acceptance, & "fans & followers". I believe in letting the information take center stage.
Why don't you show your face?
My CZcams channel is host to my podcast. However, I do make on camera appearances from time to time & have many times in the past- as this is how my channel started, with me on camera talking about whatever. And for those who always ask, yes, I am a black woman, LOL!!!!
What is this, where are the pictures or videos?
The MVMO Podcast is a talk radio program. Generally speaking , there aren't any pictures or vids. It is made for busy professionals like the host. To have the best listening experience, place your device down and multi-task or minimize the podcast on your cell and continue doing whatever you need to do as you have the host's voice going in the background. Your hands and eyes are free!
Where else can I find your podcast?
My podcast is only available on CZcams. I use Spreaker, a free podcast recording app to record, but I do not have an active podcast on their site. If you hear my podcast anywhere other than youtube, feel free to let me know as it is not me but someone misusing my content.

I respectfully chose not to watch the BET awards this year, as the event, in my opinion, has deviated from its original essence. I fondly recall a time when attendees showcased elegance and distinction, which, unfortunately, seems to be lacking in recent years.

As a Black woman, I grew up with my parents in the same house until death parted them. All my uncles & aunts are married and growing up in the Black community all throughout school from grade school to high school, that was the experience of virtually all of my friends.
So I never understood that narrative because that was not my reality nor the reality of the Black community I grew up in. And my parents were not wealthy, so income doesn’t have anything to do with it.
If folks in my family could not do anything, one thing they could do is find a husband or a wife and raise kids.
So happy you highlighted this point because I NEVER felt that my experience was rare because almost all my close friends growing up had the same experience with their parents and family.

This is very true. In my friend group, I am the only person who did not have my father around, nor was he present. My dad was however present for his wife and his sons that he has with his wife. (I was born as a result of infidelity). But I am glad that he was at least there for his two sons. All that to say- my situation is the minority. Black men are present and I am proud of those black men who are active and present!

I haven't what watched any award show in years. If I hear enough about an incident or a particular part of it afterward, I will go and find a clip to see that part. Like the slap heard around the world. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting and watching it all, and giving your thoughts about it.

I love Usher. He's an icon for sure who deserves a lifetime achievement award. I have seen interviews with Tameka and I have never heard her speak negatively about Usher. In fact she describes him as a great father and has said they are friends. I'm not sure why he called her out in the speech. Only the two of them would know.

      @anointedra Před 24 dny +5

Within context, he mentioned the way Swiss Beats & his ex plus current wife have forgiven & all work in unity for the family’s sake. So I would conclude his calling her name is related to that and not about her speaking negatively about him in public. He didn’t even allude to that.

Well I grew up with both parents in the house until my father died. Most of uncles were married. Same for my aunts. Brother very involved in his children life. If ppl parted the fathers were very much involved. I just caught the curse when I had my boys whose father isn’t present bc his beef with me and the many kids he had. My son’s father didn’t have his father present growing up. His father is around now but the damage was done. So I am convinced I caught someone curse bc I’m the only one I know whose kids don’t have a father involved. Right most ppl had dads in house or involved.

ll the fcc stuff is totally true. I know first hand.
    Short little story time.
I work in news. I started my career in Savannah in 2013.
One of my coworkers got a dui around that time.
He was suspended for a month.
About a year later, , he ACCIDENTALLY SAID “SH** on air.. they Fired him.
We were all shocked and pissed. We couldn’t believe he got fired for cursing, but not for the dui.
Our news director called everyone in for a meeting to read the compay's policy.
Basically, he was fired because of the ccc fine.
Also... the company considers alcoholism / drug addiction

When you start using profanity, you lost your point. Usher demeanor diminished his message. As talented as he is, he's too young to get a lifetime award. He's 45. That should have been a moment of his accolades, not to bash his absentee father. Obviously, he has not dealt with that pain, but an award ceremony was not the place to broadcast it. I know his pain intimately but forgive.
