  • Watch the video that accompanies the story in the April 2011 issue of eurotuner magazine. We took a $2300 1992 BMW 325is and added a series of performance parts to try and reduce the lap times. With better brakes, suspension, intake, exhaust, engine chip, 17" wheels and racing slicks, we were able to improve the car by 25sec per lap.
All the parts were supplied and fitted by Turner Motorsport. Professional driver Michael Marsal was at the wheel, and we used Monticello Motor Club as our race track

I had plenty of cars, but I just love the E36, I can't get enough of these cars :) A timeless design and years ahead of it's time... Just the sound of the BMW inline six is like no other... Any E36 or BMW owner will understand :)

And if the inline six breaks you can fit a LS2 under the hood

I have done everything to my e36 that you did to this one if not more. This has given me the confidence to finally pop my track cherry! Thanks ET and TMS!

Must be nice to do all these upgrades at once! I used to own a '95 325is, Turner Motorsport is a great tuner.

This was a great video, very encouraging. I race SCCA Solo in my '94 and currently am working on freeing up air flow (i.e intake, exhaust). Next event weekend seems promising =D Thanks for the video

E36s are so great. I've had it 6 years and before I got it and shipped it down south it used to live in Boston. I have a bunch of service receipts from the old Turner shop. You can't beat having suspension reinforcements welded on by the same company that developed them!

Great video guys!! Great concept that proves your parts. Other companies in the industry should be doing the same. It gives the consumer (like me) confidence in your products. 5 Stars.

Really? Interesting to know. I haven't done much interior work on my bimmer, first time I tried though I wrecked some parts. Think it's important to have the guide! Regardless, it would have been very interesting to see the gains made after some nice weight reduction! I like the video style of incremental improvements and the resulting time improvement - very cool to see. Man racing slicks are effective!

WOW this was ironic. I just got a '93 and am basically planning to do the exact same thing, budget track car. I have all those mods in the works

You're absolutely right, but they said "track day car" not "race car"

  • @ColinZwirner

You guys realize that the 325is had a professional driver, right? He was driving with amateurs on the track. If you or i were to try this, we would be behind by 7 seconds or so.

  • @s3rojito
    @s3rojito Před 12 lety

lol, the mods costs twice the car!!
... very nice mods by the way... Nowadays im getting porsche calipers + hawk race pads + brake lines + bilstein pss9 . I have an audi s3 chipped with exaust and k&N cold air intake... so i guess im getting almos the same prep of that bmw.

Yes, the car was $2300... but what did the mods cost?
    I'm guessing we're somewhere around $10-15k total.
    Great video nonetheless. 6:57

still though. BMWs are often like Legos in many ways - stripping out and then putting back the interior is that much of a task, it doesn't take long, and that is a good thing when you absolutely NEED the interior for street driving (if in your country it's illegal to have interior bits missing). however, maximum legal tint all around is an easier way of solving this - unless you're pulled over and thoroughly checked, no one will know :D

why the fuck didn't they strip the interior and put in a bucket seat as the first mods? stripping the car is a FREE upgrade, and it compliments your handling, acceleration AND braking. you can't be stupid enough to NOT do it -.-
