I have learned and was reminded many times that basics is the most important. For everything in life. Some people that want advanced stuff probably wants to see excavator machines digging. I love bushcraft. Made some mallot myself also and few wedges. Which comes handy to also split logs and to release a axe or saw blade that got stuck.
Hope you incorporate this shelter into something this winter when the snow and cold take over.

As great as it was to watch him previously build some of his more architecturally advanced shelters, this was a really cool series. I liked watching him create something primitive in stages and vastly improve and evolve it. The little sped-up, time lapse parts were a nice touch as well.

Find a nice piece of shale to make a cooking stone and line fireplace with rocks to hold heat and small fire to heat stones,cook and be warm without stoking fire

I've seen those bushcraft mallets before, but I've not seen someone show them being made from start to finish. I figured it would go something like that, but actually seeing it in a time lapse was super helpful. Thanks Corporal!

My husband and I watch a lot of your videos. Older ones and recent ones. We appreciate the quality of your work that you put into them. We preferred the longer ones. 30-45 min.
We are both over 75 yrs old and did a fair bit of camping with our kids when they were growing up. Yes that's a lot different from what you do and we appreciate how difficult you do is but you make it look simple.

I can't wait to see this structure in a year, f you would revisit it. I bet the grass will almost have it covered, if you don't move some on top before then. This is one of my favorite in ground shelters you have done. I really like the idea of it being almost invisible from a distance.

As far as the shovel goes I have the exact same one. It's the same shovel made famous by Zachary Taylor who won season 3 of Alone. It's worth pimping.

At this point is your just starting to get interested in survival skills, don't try cutting corners and go for advanced skills. Learn the basics and go for more advanced skills. Basic skills will save your life. advanced skills will help smooth it. I remember when I was in the military learning survival. I really thought it was impossible. I am so glad I knuckled down and learned. It have saved my life a few times.

I'm not a prolific commenter of youtube videos, but I do want to take the opportunity to say that I am really enjoying the iterative improvements that you are doing with a build like this. It tickles the old noggin. I also appreciate the plugs for actually useful gear that you're using. I know that 100 positive comments are not as impactful as a single negative one, and I also have not personally seen any comments digging against them, but I thought I'd toss my own two cents in for you. I think you have an amazingly supportive following here in youtube land, which is refreshing.

I am digging the new knives. I just ordered the brave. I have been daily carrying the Lord & Field Frontiersman Survival Knife. It is set up for right hand Scout Carry. I feel the Brave will become a every day cary and will replace the Lord & Field for a little while. Great video as always.

This series has been fun to see coming together. I wonder if you could experiment on your flue pipe with a flat rock on top and see if damping it down a bit will allow more heat to radiate into your living space yet not the smoke. Finding the sweet spot would conserve fuel and maximize heat in the shelter. Seriously great shelter. Thanks to all our veterans. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
