I lived in Lancaster from the 80's-90's. I'm from Denver Pa. area.
Love PA Dutch Food.
I really enjoyed your lesson today. 🙂
Yay! Thanks for letting me know! Make sure to subscribe to my channel if you have not yet.
This is the first time I have seen you. Enjoyed it very much. I love baking too. Pies & breads. I am in Florida.
Thanks for watching!
This is the first video of yours I've seen. I love the cooking, and to hear you speak PA Dutch.
Thank you for your video! You do a great job!
Born and raised in Western PA! Grew up around the Amish and loved it! From New Castle, PA.
Not good at pie crusts, you say?? oh, let me say, those are BEAUTIFUL pie crusts!!! I love the tip about not working with them too much, just kind of press them together into a ball. Thank you so much!!
Gude Daag ! Missouri is my husband's home state ! After we got married we moved there (he was in the military stationed in Georgia ) and that is where I had my first encounter with the Amish / Mennonites.
I fell in love with their simple way of life.
I say " simple " because only until recently have I learned through videos such as yours, that it's not as " simple " as it looks to us outsiders.
But I do still love the language and what a brilliant idea to speak it as you're working
😁👍. Denki fer the video 💖
Miss you making these videos!
I'm sorry. I'm just having to figure out what to focus on now days. Too much to do, too little time.🙃
Just saw this and loved it! You make pie crust look so easy! Like how you mix in the pa Dutch along the way. Sure hope you keep doing the videos!
I am already a subscriber to your channel and loving it! I have always been interested in the Amish way of life. We visit Lancaster, Pa a few times a year. Learning Penn Dutch or preparing pie crust in your kitchen, I’ll be here “cheering” you on.
Thank you! You are so sweet!
Here in Australia, it's winter and cold.
You made that look so easy, I struggle to make pie crust.
Don't give up. You'll get it🙂
I loved this! You make it look so effortless and you look so relaxed. I learned a lot. Will definitely be following you from now on
Thank you!
Just saw this and have a little background in German which is in the same language family as yours. I’ve heard of PA Dutch here in Hawaii from a woman in her 60’s who spoke it as her first language. I came for the pie, but staying for the language!🫶🏽
Awesome, recipe and your sweet personality❣️
Thank you! You are most kind.
My mothers mother was Pennsylvania Dutch so im guessing she was from Amish Family. They never talked about it.
Hello thank you so much love your videos
You're welcome.
Great job
Do you make "gnorkles" from the leftover pie crust? My mom was mostly German (some American-influenced German was spoken in her family for decades here in Pittsburgh until her parents' generation, when the world wars made it unpopular to speak) and always rolled out the leftover crust, sprinkled it with sugar and cinnamon, rolled it up, sliced it, and baked it.
I never heard of gnorkles. But I have already just sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on the leftover little pieces.
Well you made that look easy and relaxing, not the way I look or feel when I have tried making pie crust :) . I love the cooking video!
😀
I do enjoy watching you cook and learning the recipes but it’s harder to understand you when you’re not telling us what it is before and then speaking it in Pennsylvania Dutch later
it's called a pastry blender :)
Yes, I knew that, but it escaped my brain for the moment🙃.
Do bisht da gout cook of da Haim! Das isht gout a gout fra.
Danke
Do you partake your crusts before adding the pumpkin filling and if so what time and temperature do you bake it?
I do not prebake the crusts at all. I bake my pies in the lower half of the oven, and that helps the crust to bake properly on the bottom.
Can you make corn pie! Please
Hmm...don't believe I ever had corn pie. I've made corn casserole before but not corn pie.
@@myamishheritage6426 you must try it! It is one of my pa Dutch grandmothers favorite foods. 😊
@@jacquelynjohnston8849 Grew up in and still live in PA Dutch area. My mom made corn pie a lot and you can get it here seasonally..I love it!!
Pastry blender
Thank you. I remembered as soon as I finished. lol
