The Voice Of The Spirit - A. W. Tozer Sermon
A.W. Tozer playlist: • A. W. Tozer Sermons
If you have read or heard classic "deeper life" Christian authors and/or preachers, i.e. Watchman Nee, Andrew Murray, A.B. Simpson, Leonard Ravenhill, then you will quite likely find this sermon by A.W. Tozer very edifying. May you be blessed.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Hailing from a tiny farming community in western Pennsylvania, his conversion was as a teenager in Akron, Ohio. While on his way home from work at a tire company, he overheard a street preacher say: "If you don't know how to be saved... just call on God." Upon returning home, he climbed into the attic and heeded the preachers advice.
In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. This began 44 years of ministry, associated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), a Protestant evangelical denomination; 33 of those years were served as a pastor in a number of churches. His first pastorate was in a small storefront church in Nutter Fort, West Virginia. Tozer also served as pastor for 30 years at Southside Alliance Church, in Chicago (1928 to 1959), and the final years of his life were spent as pastor of Avenue Road Church, in Toronto, Canada. In observing contemporary Christian living, he felt that the church was on a dangerous course toward compromising with "worldly" concerns.
In 1950, Tozer received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Wheaton College. It was May 1950, when Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA. From his first editorial, dated June 3, 1950, he wrote, "It will cost something to walk slow in the parade of the ages, while excited men of time rush about confusing motion with progress. But it will pay in the long run and the true Christian is not much interested in anything short of that." In 1952, he received an LL.D. degree from Houghton College.
Among the more than 40 books that he authored, at least two are regarded as Christian classics: The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy. His books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God.
Living a simple and non-materialistic lifestyle, he and his wife, Ada Cecelia Pfautz, never owned a car, preferring bus and train travel. Even after becoming a well-known Christian author, Tozer signed away much of his royalties to those who were in need.
Tozer had seven children, six boys and one girl. He was buried in Ellet Cemetery, Akron, Ohio, with a simple epitaph marking his grave: "A. W. Tozer - A Man of God."
Prayer was of vital personal importance for Tozer. "His preaching as well as his writings were but extensions of his prayer life," comments his biographer, James L. Snyder, in the book, In Pursuit of God: The Life Of A.W. Tozer. "He had the ability to make his listeners face themselves in the light of what God was saying to them," writes Snyder.

Wonderful, I praise God for saveing me in 1965 and it is real today! I love Jesus!
Praise God. How wonderful to hear this report, Linda. 1965 was a long time ago...I was only 2 yrs old at the time. He has held onto you all these years...all praise, honor, and glory to Him.
I have read Tozer's words. What a delight for me, now, to hear him speak. Those words he spoke decades ago are still powerful. Praise God that we can still read his words and hear his voice, especially when all his teachings are as fresh as they were in his lifetime.
It's men like Tozer who help us to grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for this post. You have no idea how it's helped me. God bless.
That,s right we don,t hear the voice of God,s Spirit nowadays.
FINALLY !!! I get to hear this man in " person"...
I have all his books so far....Love love to listen to him. They younger generation has no idea what they are missing.
Carol Fryer, it’s sad. The Lord said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” Hosea 4:6.
Tozer prayed God would raise up someone else before his departure.
I’m 23 lol 😂
You can say that again 🙏
My prayer is to be a part of a local body that teaches in this matter- the Truth and NOTHING but the Truth! 🙌🏾 June 2024
god allowed me to know that once your saved you have to die daily i was living the ''grace life' i praise god he opened my eyes before i was lost.
Hallelujah for AW TOZER! God has arranged my life such that I recognize Tozer's sermon about loneliness- the mark of a saint.Thank you Pastor Tozer for your gift of great sermons.
Humble yourself..... The lord will not walk with the pride filled or the scorn filled. Great words! Amen! Thank-you
Amen. The Holy Spirit is my Helper and Comforter.
I love this! Oh how I want to be filled with the spirit!!!!
AMEN
Love these sermons , thank you Lord
Lord God .. Glorify yourself with more men like AW Tozer in my Generation.Amen
Tozer was an anointed man of GOD! LORD raise up some more in this generation!!
AMEN
He was Leonard Ravenhills mentor under God.
Outstanding exposition of the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Praise God for God’s Pastors.
The same loving God who saves also uses His Holy Spirit to fill special messengers with His instructions on how to proceed from justification into sanctification .. Thank you God
Jesus is the and the way to our salvation.
Let today's preacher howl for the dire state of church.
Such depth and clarity in his message. The kind of message we need to hear today!
Let us not harden our hearts
Doesn't this just captivate your senses, edge of the chair sermon.
Everything makes perfect sense with this beloved man's teaching. The appeal he made to those who were "half saved" echoed so much with me. Intellectual assent is indeed never repentance. How great is our God who grants repentance 🙏
Thank you father for this man of God!
I would have loved to meet this man.
I am so humbled, I have learned deep truths tonight. I am thankful for these post. We need truth today, we need the Holy Spirit to guide us, convict us, and keep us walking in the truth of Gods word. That it is a matter of the Heart, and only the Heart, the rest will follow. Amen.
What a wonderful thing to witness the preaching of CHRIST; not the stories of Christ, not arguments of Christ, not the history of Christ, but the essence and the PERSON of Christ, for THAT is the purpose of God's called men: to proclaim the Light, to proclaim the man, Jesus Christ. In HIM is Life, and those with eyes to see and ears to hear, rejoice at His coming.
Awesome Teaching....I would trade a dozen of the feather merchants from TBN for ONE more A.W. TOZER......
Amen, amen and amen!
Tozer tells the truth. Amen
Extraordinary sermon! Thank you!
That dude can seriously preach.
A sermon to change the world. AMEN
I want Gods holy judgement and justice to be exercised even if it cuts into my own family.
that is one the of realest comments I've read.
deep and powerful message . I love these classics . God is Great . God bless y all Amen.
The true gospel is timeless. This is what preaching should be. What a blessing!
Great sermon. So many think they are saved, many are half saved and almost everyone I have preached to, though saved, have not surrendered themselved, consecrated themselves, to God. Yes, the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment.
I wish all would listen to this man. He is a true teacher of God and our Lord Jesus. Our watchman do not listen to what the Spirit is saying to the church of God. Thank you Lord that we still have sermons of the true Pastors that are no longer with us. Thank you Lord for your promise to send us new watchers even if they are from another time. Thank you for Paul and the apostles and for your Word and for A. W....and men like him. Not like the watchers of this time who care more about riches. Amen
SHared this great message in FB and hope others will hear and understand the Goodness of God.
What is there to Unlike? This is all true Biblical teaching
AMEN
I am happy that the Holy Spirit convicts me. A.W. Towzer's book Knowledge of the Holy will help you understand that Gods ways are not mans ways and He still loves us,
Thank you my Lord for you still talk to your people in this present time. I am so grateful to my Lord for He knows my heart and answers my prayers. I pray for God’s people to get up and surrender to him so he can do wonders in their hearts as he restores and lift them up to a better relationship with him. It is time to surrender to Him in Spirit and in truth so that he can transform our lives
Excellent teachings! Thank you 🙏🏼
A w tozer is my inspiration to know the Lord personally his prayer life is worth following . I really praising our heavenly father for this masterpiece
Thank you feel inspired word from God, it has blessed my soul.
Thank you Lord for Aw Tozer. His preaching brings joy to my heart and draws me closer to God. I can't wait to see him in heaven so I can thank him for his faithfulness to our heavenly Father. Thank you Jesus!
Jesus is coming back soon repent and give God the glory.
The church in the US needs now to truly repent from all its wickedness. The Holy Spirit convicts you, now church. Repent, turn from your sins!
A saint gave me three of his books, which I read very slowly.
"A MAN OF GOD"👍👍👍
Thank for posting this teching . God Bless u
Powerful and a blessing!
Amen! I have half of his written books and his biography! Powerful, that we at present experience and inspire our christian community!
Yo... listener!!! Before you go ahead and leave this page and say you heard the MESSAGE, please meditate. Sit in silence and let those words from the HOLY SPIRIT come ringing in your ears and heart. For what use is it for you to rush thru the sermon and forget this TRUTH and die inside due to lack of ruminating on the GOSPEL?
I wanna add around the 4 minute mark when he says people are lost.
People are lost, they don't know their loss, but deep inside they all know something is wrong, something is missing. But they don't know what that is and they often dont even want to find it
This is a wonderful video of deliverance and inspiration, and without doubt it is the word of God. Thank you. May the Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
God Over Everything!
this message brought me to my sense. I've come short to total dedication to my everlasting father ( i.e Jesus Christ ). I will leave all: my pride, things or materials that make me flamboyant before people, my little understanding of TRUE GOD. Willingly, I'll go the Narrow off the straight way and see to it to the end. This A.W Tozer's services have been a check to my poor knowledge of the Truth. Thank God for this man's breaf life.
Man of God, Tozer is!
This is the kind of preaching there is too little of nowadays. Instead we have rubbish like Benny Hinn, Rick Warren, Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen etc etc. There still is some good stuff but its hard to find. Alas.....
I urge you to listen to " Paul washer "
He is my favorite preacher and speaks highly of A. W. Tozer and Charles Spurgeon
If anyone speaks bad about Washer the truth is not in them
+Tommy D Listen to Dr. Michael Lake at Biblical Life. Jonathan Cahn and Jim Staley are others I recommend. They work from a Hebraic heritage perspective. They are biblically sound from what I've seen and heard, amazing expositors.
God bless
***** Thanks. I will
I love Benny Hinn
Tre Davis Then you love having your ears tickled with lies.
intense. Near the end he was talking as if he watched my life for the past few years.
Powerful messages. Thank you and God bless you
May God bless you as well, Vasile.
Praise God.
Amen.
Yes the greatest lostness of humanity is we don't know that we lost this is the major problem . If someone afraid of darkness we can take him to light but if he afraid of light ? ........ Jesus came to save the lost ....
awesome!!!!
Amen!
Please pray for me. I feel that I’ve silenced the voice of the Spirit and I need to be sensitive again.
Spama Lama, Mt.12: 20 says
A bruised reed He will not break ,
Nor a smoking flax will He quench
Till He sends forth judgment to victory.
God knows the need before we ask.
So have confidence to approach the Mercy Seat any time and find full favor and the grace to help in time of that need ❤️
Holy Spirit drew you there to begin with, Rejoice!!
Love you 🙏
Great response. I was blessed by it.
Man of God
I'm not a calvinist but I do enjoy his preaching.
Um homen de Deus.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

A Man of God
VERY RAW TEACHING

i like his Pennsylvania accent
He definiately had a Godly accent which prevailed over all common preachers in his day and in ours.
