Shop Talk Ep. 9 | I Need Your Help With eARC!

Hey Friends! I need your help with eARC. I am not a video human. I am really not a Hi-Fi human! So...combining "video" and "Hi-Fi" is really messing with me. At LM Cases, we build portable entertainment center cases. The sound system is fed with the analog audio output from the TV, which then goes to a DBX Zone Pro which acts as the system processor, then goes out to our speakers. Ive been hoarding Sony TV's with the analog audio output for the past few years for these systems - and I just used my last TV. Now...I have to find a way of attenuating the eARC signal with the Sony remote. I know Im probably going to have to incorporate a sound bar or a Sonos Amp for future builds. However, I am looking for a magic box - should one exist. Thanks for your help in advance!

Most sound bars and receivers use the CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature of HDMI for volume control. Some eARC converters also support CEC for volume control.

eARC is using CEC, which is control over the HDMI connection. You have to turn that on in the tv for it to work with the remote of the tv. Just needs a eARC audio extractor box

Test a few different TVs, some I have used have a setting to control the headphone and spdif output with the volume. As others have mentioned CEC is the proper way to d this.

How about the haedphone output of the tv combined with a programmable remote that adjusts the volume of the amp?
That how I solved it.
Still analog for simplicity....

Thats how I used to do it. No more analog output on Samsung or Sony monitors.
