What do you about the large gaps between ceiling and wall?
They'd put cornice over it all
Why do you have big gaps between wall boards and ceiling boards? Why not just butt them up tight to each other? I realize it might get crown molding but it just makes it look cleaner.
To add, if you don’t have drywall off concrete floor. Moisture will wick up to the board causing moisture on board.
gaps are because of crown molding, no need to go tight and they do have a 1/2" offcut spacer to lift up the boards. that is how it is done there, other places hang it differently. The crown molding is made from the same gyproc material otherwise those gaps would be a fire hazard (in our area)
It’s cool that y’all hammer in some drywall nails, you don’t see that in the US anymore. Any particular reason you guys did that in that one spot ?

They are called solid plasterers. They only work outside using cement render etc. yeah you could find work. Anyone who is skilled can

How come that you dont isolate the walls? No offence, just curious since ive been learned to always do it due to sound etc.
in US we just use insolate in da exterior walls not interior walls.

Why a large gap at the top?
They’re probably putting crown up top (most likely) But you can tape and mud that and won’t even know there is a gap there.
@@loganpowers6997 Yes taping and mudding would cover it, but if that was the case why not just butt joint the sheets beforehand. Crown molding does make sense though. Thanks.
One room in a California house has more cutouts than a whole Australian house, just saying.

I don't get why in Australia you spend loads on coving / cornice which is unnecessary, and zero wall insulation.

We insulate external all External walls, and ceilings. Some houses get internal insulation or sound proofing if it’s in the spec. That’s what we do in Victoria anyway, not sure about Queensland but I’ll find out next month when I move
