I traded my 6.7 Powerstroke for arguably the WORST diesel truck ever......

My perspective is that I recently bought a 2006 6.0 power stroke and as long as it’s maintained it’s an amazing truck, but single is a huge yes because my buddy has a setup similar and has a big single and that thing hauls ass, I get a lot of shit and hate from ppl about my truck but at the end of the day it’s my truck and not theirs who gives a shit about what others think. Make yourself happy bro I love the truck and respect the build keep doing these videos and updates, I can tell you’re going to be huge in the future.
Absolutely! Don’t listen to what people say as long as you’re happy ! I really appreciate the input and support. There will definitely be more to come
I had a 6.4 and lost it due to a terrible accident. Anyway, at the time it currently had just over 300k miles. I was always faithful on my oil changes and fuel filter changes every 3months and in the 11 years of owning it all I ever changed on it was 2injectors and my batteries. Everyone I know would used to tell me “ you have a UNICORN !” Now I have a 6.7 and trying to figure out what route I’ll be going with 👍
Awesome! Love to hear it. Good luck with the new truck
The main factor is, don't drive it like you stole it all the time xD
Dad is that you? JK lol but on a serious note my dad had a unicorn 6.4 as well and that thing was FAST!
@2 LAPS DOWN PODCAST fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no
Doesn’t change the fact that you did have one of the few somewhat reliable 6.4s… it very easily could’ve crapped out on you. The 6.7 isn’t that great though, L5P or 6.7C are way betterz
I had a 6.4 and now have a 6.7. Never had a problem with it and I beat the balls off of it with a decently hot tune. If you maintain it, it’ll be a good truck to you. It’s a massive plus that the pistons are already taken care of. Throw a big single on there and have some fun with it 🤘🏼
Good to know thanks man !
that truck is so siickkk! Congrats Homie! can’t wait for the video of you loading the dirtbike in the back!🤣
Thanks dude ! And yeah that’ll be a huge challenge lol
15 Custom King Ranch. Love mine. Several Mods. Good luck with your new truck.
I’ve had two 6.4’s. Never had a problem with either one. The second 6.4 first thing I did was swap rocker arms and related parts, added an air dog, and added a coolant filter.
The audi sounds so much better with the resonators. And that 6.4 is clean and mean , I think you made out pretty dang good
Thanks brother I appreciate it!
Honestly if the thing was deleted from early life, or replaced everything that normally breaks after the delete and you’ve got a good tune they’re pretty good trucks
Or they go 300k all original depends how you wanna look at it!
@@holeshot1721 honestly depends on your length of drives. I’ve only seen original 300k mile 6.4s be constant towing rigs, and I do mean they do not start unless they’re hooked to a like 34 foot camper. The DPF is not happy unless it’s in those conditions
I do not have any experience with the 6.4 or any powersrokes for that matter, I have an lb7, but anyways I talked to a diesel mechanic one time who was driving a 6.4 and he said that he had owned two and his previous had failed at 300,000 miles due to an injector sticking open during the winter, but he said that he loves them, he said “they are good trucks if you have money to spend”. I don’t know I think that a lot of diesels get bad reputations and people think that they are “unfixable” when in reality they’re pretty darn tough.
Yeah dude for sure! It’s the same with anything. Take care of it, maintain it, and do the necessary steps to keep it healthy and you’ll never have an issue
Love mine, has 256k on it same engine, no major problems besides the radiator. Definitely would swap out for a mishimoto rad if there’s already not one in it or an all aluminum one. These trucks are great if they are deleted and taken care of correctly. Most people don’t understand that it’s a truck not a race car.
Yeah man I couldn’t agree more with you ! So far I’m very happy
Audi sounds sweet. Hyped to see this new unit brotha
I’m glad you liked it! Thanks for the support
I have a 2020 6.7 powerstroke and a 2008 f350 . I love the 6.7 don't get me wrong but the 6.4 is an absolute powerhouse and fun as hell to drive .
That’s awesome dude ! I loved my 6.7 but this 6.4 is Definitly a different animal and I love it
The 6-4 is a great engine that easily makes a ton of power, when you deal with the shortcomings. God bless.
We had couple 6.4 were deleted but still not compare with the 6.7 looks good park ones you start driving it let is know when its start braking down
Why would you go from a 6.7 to a 6.4?
another big reason for 6.4s Self destructing is something called Drive pressure. How quickly the vehicle makes boost. the compound turbos make boost almost instantly which is really bad for a engine at low rpms. slam a Big T4 turbo in it and youll make more boost at the top end. and it would be easier on the motor than same amount the compounds make sub 1500 rpm.
Yea the bottom end hated that a lot
@@M_A_R_I_N_E785 really strong bottem ends on the 6.4s and 6.0Ls. but to say the least. on both platforms moderate to big non VGT goes a long way. or "lazy" VGT tuning. thats a tiny bit smoky and on the back side of that forbidden drive pressure curve. its probably why theres been hundreds of trucks rolling over 500,000 miles and the owner isn't aware that their VGT has been bad for that period they just think the trucks down on power. but they don't complain its got them over half a million miles. due to reduced stresses on the headgaskets and bottom end.
@@justnsaliga8518 buying an 06 6.0 soon. Needs injectors and tires but I’m gonna get it checked out by professionals before I wrench on it
6.4 has a lot of potential, it just needs to be built properly.
Absolutely
Better put some track bars on that. Nice lookin 6.4
It’s defiantly one of the many plans for sure. Thanks !
If she doesn't have an airdog on her, better get one for her. Mine just took a shit, and now I have to order a new one. But from what you explained in video it sounds like you are golden bro. 👍🤘
Yeah dude I hope so !
@@LBZeric hope so too what.
Bro got the double decker 😅 nice truck man
Thanks dude!!!
you did something you will absolutely not regret
So far I have no regrets and I’m super pumped
we just picked up a carolina 08 6.4 runs awesome awesome car fax good truck deleted etc
W trade. Can’t go wrong with a deleted 6.fo
Dude I love it bro.... show those haters there not that bad...😂
Honestly so far is phenomenal and I have no complaints with it
Cruisin down the road in my six fo
blowin a gasket and needin a tow
I love my 6.4 she's minty, I do religious oil and filter changes and she's been a good truck I love them, they sound good, make insane power, and it's just a good looking truck
I agree!
I’m currently owning a 6.0 and my father had a 6.4 when I was younger. Out of the two the 6.4 was probably the worst truck ever driven. Sand would be created in the motor causing seizing and some pistons wouldn’t fire after about 200k miles my current 6.0 is a bone stock 6.0 with straight pipe and sinister diesel cold air intake. With proper maintenance it has lasted me 278k and still running strong I hope to drive it until the truck rusts away.
where is the front drive drvie shaft? Those rims covered up the hubs.
The video tells you
My guy I hope you get some leaf springs
You got a good good best trade ever
Hell yea that’s a good trade looks 10x better too
Thank you!
Thats a nice truck dude, , I bough a 6.0 06 f350. never owned a diesel before, so i blindly bought it cause I wanted a f250-350 sense i been a kid. So I bough it. She 232k miles on it for 14k . Then later found out 6.0 are bad and all. Only thing that got replace was brake calipers on the front were locked up. they got replaced, i replace fuel filters, Ive had her for bout 6 months only put 1000 miles on her. Love her idc what anyone says. Runs like a champ Cant wait till she get bout 5k on her so I can change the oil my self.
Awesome ! Love to hear that
Most ford diesels after the 7.3 aren't that good
NOT saying the said motors after are piles of 💩
Nice truck man
Can I ask why you specifically wanted a 4 door short bed?
I race dirtbikes and so do a few of my friends so it’s nice to have the extra cab space for them and the gear in case it’s raining or anything like that. And I wanted a short bed personally bc I just don’t put enough in the bed to justify a long bed
Swap the headlights out for morimotos for some more newer looking headlights
Nice Truck sir, im in the market for a Ford Diesel and everyone says how horrible the 6.4 is. but like others in the comments i believe any type of vehicle can be good as long as you maintain it properly, Ill be honest im a little horrified to buy a 6.4 because i live in Cali and i know it will be a pain finding someone to delete all of the stupid emissions stuff off of it
Any vehicle has its pros and cons. Alot of vehicles get a bad rep because of the owners who don’t do maintenance or absurd them. These trucks are very fun and run great when maintained and deleted. I’m sure there are plenty that aren’t deleted that run great as well. Best of luck in Cali. I’m sure you can find a way around it
Put some frame protector on it or it'll be rotten in a couple years. If you still have it.
For real! oil any and all crevices! Everything underneath that you can ASAP. Only way to keep it looking like that without rust in salt country.
6.4 is a beast I have one. I have had it for 7 years now with strict regular maintenance starts up fast every time and I use it for my landscape company. The right care for this truck it’ll last u for how ever long u want it’s a great truck. Now the 6.0 on the other hand is what this title should’ve been for lol. My 6.4 don’t go to the shop much. An the 7.3s are just beast I have one doing a frame off build but my old 6.0 would break every time an It blew gaskets and the injectors
That’s awesome man ! And so far I’ve very pleased with it. Thanks for the input, I have more videos to come
@@LBZeric look forward on to the 6.4 adventure. Use all motor craft for the trucks oil change my truck loves it and it’s made for these trucks
I bought a show room 08 in 2013 with 30,000k and removed all the engine killing shit right away and at 200k and many miles pulling a 5th wheel on worst mountain roads in North America I have put an alternator and brakes on it, my bitch is not enough gears but the exhaust brake controller I put on worked very well!
I have a bullet proof 6.4 Lariat 2008 4 door shortened, only difference is mine is black 🤣
6.4s are so quick tho😂 honestly I've heard of plenty of people having good 6.4s. It's all about the truck tho could get a bad one could get a good one🤷🏻♂️
Yeah man for sure ! Time will tell lol
Looks like it’s Missing a bolt on the radius arm bracket btw
Yeah I noticed it when I got the truck. There is a brake line that runs right online with that second hole so I’ll have to figure something out there
those tires and rims are a crime
We hope it makes it out there 😂
i woulda done the same thing. good move im sure it'll be fun
Thank you! I’m happy with my decision
My 6.4 has 255000 miles and I’ve been through one transmission and motor is very powerful and has lots of torque
As soon as I seen the title of the video I knew it was a 6.4
Get yourself Forscan with a GOOD USB adapter and shut the tire pressure monitor off... Forscan is free and the adapter will run you about $30.
Oh awesome ! I’ll look into it
Where do I get forscan?
6.4 are amazing
Once there gone through once and rebuilt right there a good truck
I love it so far
It’s nice but I don’t think I would trade my truck for an older one
What are the wheels called on the 6.7
Nvm
That truck looks like 6 cans of shark shit stacked up
What
@@LBZeric that truck looks like 6 cans of shark shit stacked up.
Huh?
@@LBZeric it's ugly and useless
I had those same 38x15.50r26 tires and wait until you have to replace them…. $$$$$$. Nice truck tho!
That’s the first thing I looked up and I was like wow lol. Thanks I appreciate it !
Was this on marketplace?
My 6.7 was but I don’t believe the 6.4 was. The guy messaged me
BAd as 6fo did u check how bad the blow by is??
Yes I did and I had him also send me a video prior to him trading me and it was fine
@@LBZeric man that was a good trade imo sick bro all you have to do is keep it up all the work Already done 💯 I would have traded my 2014 f250 6.7 probably too man
I'm looking for a 6.0 powerstroke gonna invest in it cause these new diesels are way too high on price
Absolutely ! Keep them alive
Betting it’s tougher than your 6.7
nice invisible front drive shaft
Guess you didn’t bother to watch the video
Steve your a dum ass nothing is ever perfect if you even have a truck problem a toy truck
damn, I wish I still lived with my parents...
Move back in with them then. I personally like living on my own with my own house but that’s just me
i would get different tires and wheels but thats me
6.4 fast asf
Sure is man
6.4's are Fun.....thats why
Ehh i mean theres probly a reason he wanted to ditch a 6.4 for a 6.7. But idk what i do know Dude the blocks on those leafs are straight up dangerous even more so with the power turned up str8 sketch man if seen failure on much shorter even with track bars ditch em do it right man it will be cheaper, then the risk that comes with those
Thanks for the input man. I think you’ll be shocked if you watch my more recent video on what I traded the 6.4 for!
@@LBZeric now thats funny ! im going to check right now. Some one gave me a 6.4 I had it for about four hours and got a 6 L for it.. happily … still have it I don’t think I will ever get rid of it. and no problem for the input. I literally never make CZcams comments, but in that case I had to say some thing lol
I wouldn't say the worst. My brother in law got a million miles out or his or should I say about 1.4 million miles
That’s crazy! The more I read about these trucks and have this one, the more I really like it. Once deleted they are honestly really good
Dumb trade
Front driveshaft?
Watch the video
@@LBZeric I did. Must've missed that part. Sweet ride though. I've had the 7.3 and the 6.7. I've heard the 6.4 is a fast mean engine!
And the fastest power stroke of them all
Absolutely nothing wrong with a 6.4 or the truck. The problem is the lift/suspension............that inmature? Really?
Is it your truck ?
At least put a lower lift on it
No front driveshaft
What
6.4 is arguably not the worst. Lmao.
God that thing is hideous
#6.4
But does it have blow by?
all 6.4s have blow by even built new motors
Every diesel does. Both these trucks have some which is normal
@@TRatzlafff yeah but how much pressure is actually coming out of the blow by is what matters if your cap flies off that not good if it just a little blow by that normal
Take the lift off first
I quit watching when he said he is not going to say what he traded for.
Useless truck can’t do anything with it but ride around looking ridiculous.
What
@@LBZeric sorry bro
Useless truck!
I loved mine and it was my first diesel. If I had the money I’d buy another 6.4
I’m very happy with it so far
@@LBZeric I had mine oil changed every 3500-4000 miles and I added Lucas oil stabilizer to substitute a quart of oil religiously. Mine was from Texas and the frame was rust free and that was a buying point for me. I traded my 6.4 in for a Nissan Titan xd 5.0 Cummins love it but I do miss my 6.4 a lot. I’d like to get another one and build it.
hell ya 6.4 ROCK
Laughs in 6.2L Detroit idi non turbo diesel
Another weak point on these bad bois is the twins. Rip them shits out and put in a single kit with good tunes and you basically have a reliable 6.0 with more power.
I’ll definitely be on the hunt for a single in the spring !
unless they bought a 6.4 billet block it isn't bullet proofed lol
Fair enough
@@LBZeric Not trying to beat on you or anything. I would love to have one of these trucks. I understand all the mods you can do to make them reliable. In all honesty you probably won't have a problem. It sounds like the previous owner did everything he could to alleviate any future issues. I do love how much power 6.4's make and how good the torque curve is. I just hate all the things you have to do to make one reliable. Then you find out the block itself can be a prob. At least the coolant filter will stop the sand.
