Me and the team take on the biggest project of our lives!
We plan to restore the world's only FV4005 back to running condition.
The turret itself has been outside for nearly 60 years
This project would not have been possible with out the help from
Wargaming and Bovington Tank museum.
In this video we show the current state of the Mk3 Centurion hull that we plan to use for this build.
Stay tuned for further updates on this project! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Am I following this correctly. You had acquired the FV4005 hull. The tank museum from their U tube videos on the subject had the FV4005 turret, which for years was sitting on a random (later mark) centurion hull. But didn't know where the hull was. Now WoT are backing the resturation of putting the two halfs back together. Very well done, this should boost your subscriber count more than the colab with WD?
To start with I wasn't too sure if it was satire or not 😂
i think your right
Hopefully Mr Hewes will come along and put us straight.
The tank museum 4005 os sat on the wrong Hull, its a mark 3 originally so the gun and turret is the onky original thing anywy 😊
It's not the original hull, its just a Mk 3 hull which is more correct than its current Mk 12 hull
I have just donated £100 to The Tank Museum, to get the FV4005 running! YOU NOW WORK FOR ME!! STOP MESSING ABOUT AND GET ON WITH IT!!! Signed Mr Poor-Now!
Seeing that freshly painted Foden basically on idle whilst pulling that tank chassis was seriously impressive to see
Yeah, it was like it wasn't even trying to pull the tank chassis
There is no way you're restoring one of the most legendary tanks ever! Holy koe!
I am astounded that the Foden has remained so clean for so long!
What does Foden stand for? Thank you
@@nigelspendlove9088Wikipedia:
Foden Trucks was a British truck and bus manufacturing company, which had its origins in Elworth near Sandbach in 1856. Paccar acquired the company in 1980, and ceased to use the marque name in 2006.
Iveco stands for It Vibrate Eventually Comes Off.
They painted it about a month ago
@@nigelspendlove9088it was the surname of the guy that started the company, the F in ERF was also Foden, iirc a family dispute had one of the brothers leave and set up a new company.
Congratulations to you and the boys on being chosen to restore this piece of history, says a lot about your skills and work ethic. Can’t wait to follow this restoration. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
More like, who do we know whose mad enough who we could get to restore the Beast?
I was a bit sad when I first saw the 4005 sitting out in the open and exposed to the elements,, now you guys are making it whole again and giving it a proper home now.. You are awesome
Awesome project. The Foden is looking sharp.
This!
You sent it out to be detailed?
fantastic i saw the FV4005 parked outside the Tank museum in '21. well done lads.
A dream of mine for many years was to see "SPUD" restored and operational, as the tank is truly a unique vehicle, and made me sad that it had spent so long already as just a gate guard, but now that it is finally happening, I can't help but smile and just be happy about this, even being backed by Wargaming!
This is going to be epic. You were so near to being sensible in the into
Lol
Brilliant. Foden looks great. Never been really interested in tanks but I am now thanks to your much watch channel. Good luck with this one
All the best to you all. Regards Mick.
@mickboakes7023 you'll enjoy their good honest content and banter
I was at the Tank museum a few weeks ago and noticed it wasn’t out front, now I know why, awesome! can’t wait to see the finished restoration.
Damn the thumbnail caught my eye! Can't wait to watch this video. Love the idea of ships on land (altho not very practical)!
You lot are beginning to make a name for yourselves...well done...well earned....keep up the truly fantastic work.
Retired engineer those reduced bolts I would suggest you get a slightly larger nut put it on top and weld the nut to the head in the hole I have had this work for me numerous times Kind Regards from Liverpool
Kudos to all.. The Grafters/Big Hitters all collaborating to restore a Big Heavy Hitter.. This is one to watch. 👍
Jack is a living meme.
Nice Project 👍 I have fond memories of that outside Bovington Tank Museum as a gate guardian. Have a great picture of my Son standing front of it when he was about 4 years old. It'll be great to see it get restored. Keep up the great work/videos .
I knew this was going to happen but I thought you were going to making your own 4005 turret and gun for one of your chassis. So pleased to see it’ll have (hopefully) adequate funding from bovington. Keep up the good work chaps. Can’t wait to see this finished
WG has pledged £20k and the tank museum raised £20k from the public in 24 hours
I am a War Thunder-fanboy, but i still love when Wargaming does help with projects like this. I wich you the best and am looking forward to the restored tank!
Wow, two of my favourite CZcams channels and one of my favourite games (WOT) working together - bliss. So looking forward to watching the videos of the restoration. Hopefully, as already said, the collaboration with the Tank Museum will give your channel a huge boost which you all richly deserve.
what a project to be involved in - very well done - you have to go all the way and make the gun fireable
Not in this country, unfortunately 🤷♂️.
@@johnnunn8688 You actually can, you need a special permit though
That’s gonna make your ears bleed
@@johnnunn8688 Someone does not understand the laws/rules of the UK
@@gregsbiplays9899, I’m not going to bother googling, I’ll just take a punt and say you’re wrong.
Amazing project, can't wait for progress videos. Just shows how good you and your team are. Bring it on
It's awesome to see such an iconic machine coming back to life
FINALLY!!!! The Centaur deserves this so much!
Foden - one of the best and most reliable bits of kit in any British Army unit back in the 1980s. I am confident Mr Hewes and his crew will do a great job renovating the FV4005.
WOW. Or rather, WOT! This is amazing... When Mr. Hewes, The Tank Museum and World of Tanks Collide! Like the hundreds and hundreds of hours I spent playing WOT (and numerous visits to the museum), I can now also add Mr. Hewes channel to my "Hey I'm doing research" excuse list (I work in videogame design), and feel less guilty watching the channel in work hours. Thanks for the awesome tie-in lads!
I had to do a double take on the title! I hope you lads keep up the fantastic work because watching all these tanks come alive is something special!
This is why I don't regret giving WG money. For all their questionable game balancing decisions, they actually spent their money well. It's no exaggeration to say, for at least a decade, they've been the organization with the most contribution to military history.
Congrats on being invited to collaborate with the Tank Museum. Hopefully they'll provide some parts in addition to the plans. Can't wait for part 2.
That Foden looks so good now Joe, well done everyone.
Fantastic project good luck cant wait to see part 2.
Great project guys. You must be doing something right to be restoring this. Can’t wait for next episode. 👍
Love how far you guys have gone over the years and how you are helping the Tank Museum iam very proud of you 👍👍
Magnificent that your skills have been recognised by such an august organisation!
Outstanding Joe! What an excellent collaboration!!!! See you at Tankfest 2024!! Very best, John
No one better than you for this job!
Good to see such young guys and girls interested in this equipment long may it continue.
it's about bloody time this was done, fricking hell!
Immensely proud to be watching along, wishing you boys the best of luck!
This is so awesome that you're doing this, I've always wanted to work on restoring these kinds of vehicles myself
Fantastic opportunity guys, do us proud 👍🏼😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The Foden is looking good, especially in full sun! Interesting project, can't wait for part 2
SPUD is getting a restoration! Love to see it!
Good luck with the restoration. If you do a great job perhaps the tank museum will use you to restore a panzer. That would be fun to see...
Dear Joseph,
It’s nice to see how easy it was for the Foden recovery truck to pull the down part of the FV 4005. The problem for me is that I don’t know a lot about British army vehicles from the early period after WW2. All I know that the FV 4005 was a tank meant to be as a heavy long distance Anti-Tank. As far as my knowledge goes this tank was for this purpose equipped with the most powerful and biggest gun ever built for a tank on a more or less standard size tank. Only the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus built by the Germans during WW2 was bigger but had a less powerful gun.
Thanks for your attention in this lesson 😀.
I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
The 183mm gun produced 87 TONNES of recoil 😳
Excellent, good luck chaps.
what a great thing to have on your channel & CV Joe !
Foden looks very dapper in black and white!
Great to see a bunch of young men grafting at heavy engineering, not afraid of getting your hands dirty on that beast. P.S Nice driving of the Foden, well done young man.
NOOOO WAAAAY ! one of my favorite tank, so happy that it's getting some love !
That was an awesome part 1 of this restoration. Keep up the good work.
fv4005 is my fave tank to play in war thunder hope with goes well!
thank you for restoring one on my fav tanks, i cant wait to see it done
Great video!!
This is going to be a really interesting restoration, I look forward to the coming fight of man versus rust!
You always make it interesting and entertaining!
Хороший дрын. Корабельный калибр на гусеницах. БАБАХА.
I was in bovington last june for the tankfest, i went to see it and when i saw all the rust thought that this was a shame that a one-of tank is left to rust and be destroyed like this, glad to see this project
Watching a presentation on the FV4005 from Bovington. The mentioned that the rocoil was so intense, it would have flipped the tank over if fired at 90 degrees to forward. Really a note to WoT showing it firing at that angle. Loving your work boys.
Glad I got a picture of this a few months before restoration started
That is a big project! 😉 looking forward top seeing more!!!
World of Tanks and War Thunder have done a shit ton to promote military vehicle restoration/preservation and it’s crazy to think what would’ve been lost if they didn’t
Wargaming is insane with what they do for military stuff(they're an active sponsor for USS Iowa and were involved with rebuilding the Maus)
Criticize them all you want for their money practices but at least they put that money towards preserving history
i want a foden painted exactly like that with a custom overland cabin on the back, perfect motor home! :D
Great vid, fantastic project, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
Damn the goodest Derp Tank of the history
Awesome Foden & Ted supervising lol
I was here today and saw the guys around it, amazing news I am so stocked
I just love the Idling-Sound of the Foden. Awesome piece!
Congratz on the Collab with WoT. Great video as always.
Cool! I've been waiting for this.
Hell Yeah - The greatest derp tank ever!!!! It's nickname was "The Barn" iirc...
Had an unexpected Mr.Hewes moment early this morning while going across the radio dial unable to sleep, a national overnight radio show here in Canada had a sound bite from you and this vid ( The Shift with Shane Hewitt, the clip is not part of the podcast, looks like they cut out all the hosts banter between guest spots) one of the co-hosts is a gamer and tank fan and gotta be a Mr. Hewes regular (Speak up Ryan O if you are lurking) as he was excited about this restoration and it got you some air time. Congrats Mr International Media Star. =-)
Incredible 🤣
FV4005! The legend!
I look forward to seeing this incredible piece of armour restored.
fuggin awesome, bring on the boom barn
they are finally restoring the big ol boi
Looking forward to this one Mr Hewes.
Damn, that Foden is looking good!
Fair play lads that foden is looking mighty fine 👌🏻😎😎😎😎 think you need another to keep this one mint 😉🤣🤣🤣
Огромную работу проделали ребята , огромное вам спасибо , благодаря вам можно заглянуть в историю танкостроения ❤❤❤вы делаете реально отличные вещи
That Foden paint job looks amazing.
im incredibly grateful i found this channel, it has provided me with the most satisfaction of any youtube channel over the last 12 months. I think i started following you when partridge exterior cleaning came and cleaned one of your tanks with a pressure washure (cheers dits). fucking love you guys. yes ive had a cider. mint
Legend ❤️
This will definitely be one to follow!!!
I wanna see that big mama rock and roll again
What a beauty this is going to be! Mate, cannot wait to see this beast thundering down the arena during tankest!
thank you very much for good entertainment. 👍🤗👍🇸🇯
Well done all all trying to achieve this chaps
That Foden looks epic
Im a bit late to the party with Mr Hewes but have caught up. Foden looks ace. The FV is a mean tank one shot kill on WOT but quite weak armourwise. Hope this goes well.
Looking forward to this. 😊👍🏻
A truly enlightened pairing between the establishment, ie the Tank Museum, and the veritable Young Turks of the resto world that are Team Hewes.
More power to your collective elbows gents.
These tank waiting for you guys. Good work!
Good gob
Yard looks mega great setup mate
FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY to restore an amazing Vehicle
Im guessing a few companies were bidding on this project !!
We are just glad it was you guys that got the job !
Looking forward to part 2 !!
The whole project was actually my idea
Clever old spud ! 🤪
The Foden is loooking gooood!
10:04 Is it wrong to feel THIS good, listening to that Foden chug along under load, just about idling?
Yeah tick over pulling 40 ton
Wild that a video game is the greatest patron of armour preservation in the world
I just started watching and it’s already the best video yet!!!
very cool!
Cheers
jim
ao glad youve managed to be allowed restore her
Ted❤ This sounds like a great project
Working for the Tank Museum now? Awesome!
I do love the sound of that Foden.
