As I mention at the 6:39 mark, this will be a charity video. After 2 weeks I will take all the ad revenue and Super Thanks generated from this video and donate 100% of it to the Owen Hart Foundation. Direct link to the website is in the description as well. Long Live Owen Hart.💗
The first death that I ever cried over in wrestling. It's been 25 years and I still haven't & won't get over this. Owen is missed to this day & I can only imagine what his life would be like now. Happily retired & seeing his kids off to college. Owen would be a Hall of Famer, definitely a WWE guy with tons of documentaries, toys, video games. thank you, Owen, for everything you gave us wrestling fans.
Me too, Hosea.
Im 49, and I cried like a bizz-nich.
Owen was one of the few heel wrestlers that even as a 6-7 year old kid was always one of my favourites, even in his feud with Bret I was on his side. RIP King of Harts❤
This is still gut wrenching 25 years later.
Edit: This was the age before Social Media where it was really only MySpace out there and I didn't have the best internet (AOL - yes, I'm that old), so I really just got the results of matches that didn't have anything about Owen and went to bed pissed off that 'Taker got the title from Austin. Next morning I woke up to the Today show showing Owen and saying he'd died. I was stunned.
I was 19 years old and a month from graduating from high school on June 25, 1999. He should’ve never been told to do that stunt. You should be here at 59 years old still with his wife and his son and daughter. Rest in peace, Owen. Gone but not forgotten.
One of the funniest and most gifted wrestlers of all time. I will never forget watching his Slammy Award speech on an old VHS tape and cracking up like nobody else.
“I KNEW IT! I’M A WINNER! I DID IT! WOOOOOO!”
RIP King of Harts.
This was an awesome tribute for the legendary, Owen Hart. It's mind boggling that he's been gone for twenty five years. Very, very good gesture with the donations as well. I also agree with everything that you said about Martha too. I respect and agree with her decision. Again, this was an awesome tribute for one of the very best to ever do it. You're a good man, Greg. Thank you, and RIP, Owen. 🙏
Nice job GMW. It’s hard to believe it’s a quarter of a century since this tragic event! Like you, this is the one that hit be the most, being a huge Hart family fan too. Owen Forever x
I was 9, the screen went black and came back on JR telling us Owen fell. My parents were sobbing and I was in complete shock. My introduction to tragedy and death. Owen was one of my favorites, and my wife already knows if we have a son, we're naming him Owen.
You're a good man with good taste 💯
Happy Owen Celebration Day
Owen Hart had a gift. He was extremely talented both athletically and on the mic. I was eight years old at the time and I didn't watch the pay per view but when I saw the story on the news the next morning before I went to school I was sad. It was what everyone was talking about at school. It still makes me sad every year on the anniversary.
Owen hart is loved by his fans all around the world plus his friends and family. Your missed by everyone owen. You were a awesome wrestler and person
Can't help but tear up just hearing that JR clip. I remember watching it like it happened yesterday. RIP Owen!
Whoa! it was 25 years ago today that Owen Hart died in that needless accident at the ''Over The Edge'' PPV I can't believe that Owen has been gone this long. Own Hart's death shocked me more than Benoit's Owen didn't deserve the hand he was dealt.
I was nine years old when Owen fell, I was watching the ppv live with my Dad and Uncle. I knew what was happening, but didn't know the gravity of the situation.
I was there that night and to say it never gets easier is an understatement for those in attendance we were in shock
Fantastic tribute to Owen, man. Seems we are around the same age. I did not watch the PPV but I remember hearing about it the next day. My boyfriend worked at a radio station so he got the news pretty early.
We watched Raw later that night and were both moved so deeply by these big, tough guys breaking down and sobbing genuine tears over Owen. We especially recalled the poem Mark Henry wrote for Owen. That just tore us up.
Bret was always one of my all-time favorites (love all the Harts, really), and I've had the honor of meeting him twice. He is a nice guy, but the pain in his eyes is so clear to see, even years later.
I have always respected and understood Martha's wishes regarding putting Owen in the Hall of Fame, but after my boyfriend died in 2022, I understand what it feels like to lose a soul mate. So I think that anyone who would tell Martha to "just get over it" is being selfish. Her children had to grow up without a father. That's something you can never get over.

I live in Calgary. This was a BIG deal
Never got to see his work live, wish I could've. Gone way too soon. R.I.P. Owen❤️
2008 started watching wrestling & seen many videos of owen wrestling very smooth. Very sad he's not here.
I was very young when Owen died so I never really felt the impact of his passing. Watching videos is just not the same as watching and experiencing him live. He should be alive today and he should have inducted Stu Hart with Bret.
Owen should be alive today. His death was so preventable.
We don't have to like her. We don't have to agree with her. We don't have to respect her or her decision. We do however have to accept that this is how things are. Maybe when she passes we can get him in the HOF. I remember that night. I didn't get any sleep that night. I couldn't stop thinking about him passing away and wondering as a human being how his family were. I still can't believe it's been 25 years. My big brother passed away 12 days before Owen. He was also a big fan of Owen. May he never be forgotten
Yeah, Martha can't keep holding a grudge about what happened to her husband for 25 years. It was a stunt gone wrong, the WWF isn't entirely responsible for that. Owen made the decision to do what he did, he could've said no but he chose not to.
@@jerelminterOwen was too forced
RIP. The whole family was affected. His wife devastated and his brother losing his health (stroke)
It was a domino effect
RIP Owen Hart 💕🖤💕
2️⃣5️⃣ Years Gone 😥
But STILL Not Forgotten.... ❤✊🏼
As sad as it is. I never knew he was supposed to win the belt that night. So much more of a “wtf” moment
RIP to the King of Harts/Hearts.
This is awesome Greg
Long live Owen Hart 4 Ever
Happy
Owen
Hart
Celebration Day ❤
I wasn’t even born until 2 years later but it’s such a sad loss that could’ve been prevented. He seemed like a great human being. With Bray Wyatt’s sudden death pretty recently, I got the same feeling people must’ve felt when Owen and Eddie Guerrero died.
Don't forget about the The countdown that was given to Jim Ross from Kevin Dunn before announcing Owen Harts death.
I don't know if it's because I'm on the spectrum and I'm ultra sensitive to external stimuli and I'm ultra perceptive of stuff most people don't even notice, but every single time through the years I come across a video or whatever mentioning the Owen incident, I feel a very dark ominous feel of dread in the air.. almost as if Owen's ghost is haunting every single material avaliable of him.. Forever in our achy hearts Owen 💔🖤🙏🏻
Rest In Peace Owen Hart
Greg I live in Kansas city I was watching it
I remember watching PPV at my cousins house who had a blackbox. I remember watching and the camera cut away to the crowd and later jim ross announced what happened . It was very hard to watch the rest of the show.
Dam Greg spamming these ads
Every video I release is set to the lowest setting for ads. I don't see them myself so I'm not aware of how frequent they are, but they should never be too bad.
It’s absolutely crazy that’s it’s 25 years ago now that Owen died
And jim I cordelis..was in the ring and he said he felt owen brush his shoulders..
He was a great wrestler Owen he had so much talent in the ring died way to young on a stunt that did not need to happened
I was wondering why the hell it took so long for the show to get back to the wrestling matches. Even though Jim Ross, was telling the audience what was happening, but they wouldn't show it. I saw nothing but crowd shots, did anyone else think it was weird ?
They cut away with the camera and stayed away from the ring because they did not want to show Owen's body laying in the Ring dead the Medical team was peforming CPR on Owen but he was already gone it was not a good sight to see they waited till they removed him from the ring to bring the camera back to the ring out of respect RIP! Owen Hart
@@adampruitt9211 Yeah in hindsight, I know why they cut away from the ring to show the audience but I meant at the time when I saw it on TV, I didn't have a clue what was happening.
@@jerelmintercould they show atleast a side of it.
@@adampruitt9211which is shocking
Owen Hart's death still breaks my heart i wasn't even born yet but I've heard about it through youtube videos and especially through the dark side of the ring episode this should've been all avoidable I've heard jim cornette say in a kayfabe commentaries interview that owen didn't want to do it owen shouldn't have done it in the first place owen hart should've wrestled as himself against the godfather and not a gimmick from 1989 I'm so glad greg did this video can't believe it's been 25-years since owen hart's passing.
I was coming home from a high-school related function and made a quick pickup at Burger King before I got home, knowing Over the Edge was taking place that night. I caught the show partway through the second hour, so I was completely oblivious.
So I was stunned when they went to JR and King and Jim made the announcement that Owen had died. I hoped against hope that he misspoke or that it was a hoax. When my local news led with this accident, that’s when the reality set in.
I immediately watched the replay to see what happened and what led to it. (Thank goodness the accident didn’t make TV.) Hearing Jim calmly explain the gravity of the situation while the cameras went strictly with crowd shots was surreal and chilling.
A very sad night as a wrestling fan. Makes me equally as angry knowing this was COMPLETELY avoidable.
Hey Greg, this was beautifully done and can feel your own sadness and I felt it too but damn, you did remembering Owen Hart perfectly ❤
I appreciate you taking the time to do this and Honor 1 of our best!
I always mention and thought that Owen should’ve been allowed to go to Wcw and bulldog stayed in wwf instead. Owen’s wcw run be severely underutilized like Bret. But also unfortunately I think just like Bret and bulldog in wcw, Owen would have gotten severely injured looking at wcw track record in its last few years. But Ofcourse Owen would likely still be with us so it’s the lesser of two evils.
I don’t care what anyone says, accident or not . Vince is evil enough to have planned this
For injuring his biggest money maker . The fact he also
Counter sued Owen’s wife tells you all you need to know . RIP Owen
You kinda have to counter sue when being sued substantially tho. That's just how it works man.
Watched it on ppv at a bar full of screaming wrestling fans. The place went silent for the rest of the night. Will never forget.
And yes, you need a good bullying for the 1999 apartment. That's coming from a huge comic book nerd, so take that how you will.
It still haunts me to this day watching Over The Edge and the death of Owen Hart was definitely one of the biggest devastating blows in wrestling history. I grew up watching Owen back in the day and he is very charismatic, a loving father, and a very excellent wrestler. Bret vs. Owen will always be stuck in my head watching one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history. Rest in peace, Owen. You will still be missed.
