- A connected map mod has been one of the most requested mods for nearly a decade, so the fact that I'm releasing this today is...slightly surreal. Anyway, I really hope you enjoy it!

welcome to the world of modding my friend, almost all of your childhood classics will have some form of modifications out there to change it even things you have to dig a little for and are uncommon
@@masterjenkins632 yeah totally. if you like wind waker or majora's mask, try a randomizer for them. especially for wind waker. making it open and non linear makes it feel like a whole new experience.

@@Shano1101 I had an idea to solve that, there could be a new game plus where all the mission and race take advantage of the other maps, so the original game design is intact while the new map is in NG+

What I notice is, modern games are bad because game developers are so focused on graphics that they don’t focus on making great characters, games today are also to political, they also have poor game play with poor story and activates.
Overall, fewer companies making games means there’s less competition and therefore they only need to nail the trailer, graphics with map design. People will buy the games even tho there not the quality of the old ps2 era or the early PS4 era.
When I talk about games the older games like simpsons, need for speed, Star Wars and even barnyard are all far better and much more memorable games because game developers had to compete with a larger amount of options and didn’t really on technology to mask there games flaw. It was vital to make games memorable by making players love characters and story.
Notice how today most games are online and have no to little story and character development. Online is just a business making scheme which has a simile effect to gambling.

Dude this is so seamless. If they ever remake hit and run, they need to do this, and have each level unlock one at a time, like the maps in old GTA games
If they remake it they should redo the whole map from the ground up, game is so old that just an HD re-release won't be very exciting
@@wile123456 We're at a point now where a new game would basically be indistinguishable between game and TV show. It would be absolutely incredible to have this remade using today's tech
@@AverageAtBestHDTB if a Simpsons game had to look like the show it should be 2D with hand drawn assets, or it should be rendered similarly to Dragonball FighterZ, which uses 3D but posing, pinpoint animation and cell shading to make it look 2D.
That isn't easy to do though, so they'll need to give a team enough time and money to properly do it

EmeraldCrossing01 I quite like Virtual Springfield sure there wasn't much gameplay there besides moving to other locations but what it lacks in gameplay it more than makes up for in sheer charm it was like being in a actual episode of the Simpsons I miss when a lot of the computer games were 2D animated it holds up a lot better than the 3D stuff.

It did mine as well. Yesterday I had to 100% the game after I noticed most of my old saves from 2004 were at 95% or higher. It's still such a fun game even to this day.
Yeah I hadn't played the game since the PS2 days, and I was looking for wherever this transition was supposed to happen. Instantly I am like, "Something about this left turn doesn't feel right..."

Man the fact that you went above and beyond with the bridges and curves in the level intesrctions instead of just making straight lines amazes me. Also there needs to be a suicide bridge card that you can only get by jumping off the bridge

I think the developers were probably just inhibited by time and money.
@@drewlovelyhell4892 hit and run was released in 2003, just cause was released 2006. 3 years, especially for games back then, is a lot of time. Even if the ps2 didn't improve, im sure developing software did, thus making it easier to create bigger, more demanding games.

It's one thing to interconnect the three maps together. But it's another thing entirely to theme the bridges after actual bridges in the show that fit the transitions.

I’m surprised this game doesn’t have a remake/sequel or even a reboot. With today’s tech the map could be all of Springfield and include so much
I believe it's because the company the made the game shut down or something.
Why reboot a game that is already good?
Because it's a licensing nightmare. Fox, or Disney who owns them, needs to license the game to be made and also have a billion other companies agree since you need so many things like the voice cast and other TV stations. Tie in games with movies and shoes mostly only happen as marketing, when a new movie or season launches and the game is used to create hype. Simpsons isn't doing too hot right now which might be why.
Making an original IP means it will be much easier to remake In the future because you don't to worry about these things as much
@@tylermatthews427 It's because EA owns the rights to Simpsons games now and this game was made by Radical and published by Vivendi Universal who got bought out by Activision and later shut down. You could get a remake of The Simpsons Skateboarding though ;) That was EA.

The Suicide Bridge existed before Hit & Run, it was first seen way back during the first season. In the third episode, Homer’s Odyssey, Homer attempts to kill himself after getting fired from the power plant by tying a rock around himself and carrying it to the same bridge.
I was gonna say this, and then Homer did just that in this video

I dont. Simpsons was funny when this game was out. Its now not funny and should have ended 15 seasons ago. Id imagine the game would he a total failure like the new south park games.

I used to think it was getting worse as time went by but it just changes as the times do. Its only been 30 years everyone, thats not that long of consistent aire time haha
It’s been many years since I last played this game and I am still disappointed there never was a sequel. Mods like this just prove how well appreciated it is.
That left turn at the donut shop just to reveal the whole second map was incredible. And then you manage to find a way to make all three of these insanely shaped maps fit together. Great job!

In this game (2003), incoming traffic reacts way more realistic (moving away, using headlights, honking), than it does in Cyberpunk 2077 (2020).

Old games: Press the ‘Action’ button.
Me as a kid: Which in the fuck is the “Action” button?! Then proceed to press everything on the controller, till I found it.
Relic og a time when devs didn't want to or have time to make specific HUD for every console including PC. Especially on PC its an issue since you can ebind everything or you might still use a conteoller
These days they program the hud so it changes icon depending on what button you have assigned
There doesn't seem to be any "any" key!
There are still games that use descriptions like "press (button 3) to continue".
And some PC games still to this day refer to the function rather than the actual key, like the "press the action button to continue" example.....double points if the devs decided to bind the default button to something you never ever use as an action button like J or Ctrl or something.

All the console versions had specific huds, back when this was released on pc xinput didn't exist, directinput was the main means of controller input through windows which allowed for various gamepads to work and self implementation from developers to distinguish a device. Xbox controllers weren't used on pcs back then so of course they didn't integrate a hud for them on pc, this came out in 2003
Somebody woke up one day and said:
"I'ma make the best Simpson's game even better"
And then just did it...
Amazing. Imagine if every mission was on this map and you could do chunks of them in any order, with the faster cars spawning in traffic as you progressed.
I find this fascinating! I used to sit and imagine how the levels connected when I was a kid, but this works way better than anything I ever came up with.

I didn't even realize the levels transitioned with each other at first and that messed with my head. Honestly I think that shows how well done the transitions between levels are. Bravo to you dude!

Imagine if you could make the traffic dynamic, to where when you're in level 2's area, then level 2's traffic spawns in, or getting into level 3's area, and level 3's traffic spawns.
This game was a big refuge in my childhood and this was one of my dreams about it. It's really amazing what you've done here and it was lovely to see this. Thank you for doing this! 🙏😊

I heard there's a possibility this game will see a remaster - a fully connected map is one item on my wish-list.
At times while watching I had to stop and rewind the video just see that you'd moved onto a different map. That's how seamless this mod was. Great job.

Good job. It actually looks like something that would be part of the actual game. I'm actually surprised that this wasn't done originally, considering that the hardware of this era was more than capable of running an extensive map like this.
It was about the level system I believe. You accessed different characters and locations over time. For example, when you unlocked Bart you got the downtown area.
I heard the developers were rushed to release the game, thats why most of level 7 is blocked off :/
