When I was 6 years old, my Mother arranged for two Elise ballerinas to be sent over to Sydney for me. They had the most gorgeous clothing and were a wonderful influence.
Oh I was wondering if you were gonna do something on Madame Alexander, what I didn't know was that I would tear up. Oh dear BelleAnne you and this collection are bringing back so many memories of my Grandma Belle (Isabelle Krieg of Redwood City.) These are so beautiful and I am going to take out my beautiful Madam Alexander's and give them a proper place of honor 😊 Thank you guys So Much !!! Blessings for you and yours always❤
Lovely presentation! I recently saw an interview with A. Glenn Mandeville that when he met Madame Alexander in person, she said, "don't call me a doll manufacturer but a doll fashion designer" She was so proud of all the gorgeous clothes she designed! That really stuck with me.
I have enjoyed your program so much. Ive learned more about this company and the beautiful dolls. I loved the small dolls when i was young and had 2 muffies. I had seen some wendy sculpt dolls in the 1990s . I bought my first one from a Lillian Vernon catalog. Now i have almost 200. Some are different styles. I can't get over how much i love them. I was never disappointed when one was delivered from dealers. The outfits, oh my ,the outfits. Now i buy the older ones when i find them and clean them up head to toe. There's always a way to add a few more. Thanks for the great show.
Every post is such an adventure with Michael and David, and this one with BelleAnne is of personal interest. I had a friend who gifted his nieces a collection of all the ethnic costumed 8" dolls. He also built and furnished a large dolls' house for them. Quite an interesting hobby for a classics professor!
They are so cute and primitive, it definitely shows that the doll itself was an afterthought. The effort in the clothes definitely looks better achieved.
